  1. Its an interesting point,...and in principle I agree. The thing is the Star Wars Star Destroyers surface, were always irregular and rough. Lumps, bumps and panel lines show a surface with a heap of detail. For the scale,...Lego had no hope of replicating that. So I do get leaving the surface predominately with studs. Its a display piece,....so from a distance I am guessing it looks quite realistic. You could cover it with stickers,...….but people would complain it would be too flat and too 2 dimension like. But,..at the end of the day,...like many models (plastic, Diecast, Lego), the finish is in the eye of the beholder and its quite subjective. There really is no right or wrong answer.
  2. No one thought this extraordinary MOC wasn't worth commenting on?? Has it been on the forum before? The video is quite recent so...…?
  3. Fab release and I will be getting this for sure. Just love the bigger sets. I think I have room for it.....?? As said above,...its a display piece, so I am fine with the lack of minifigs,....which are not to scale anyway. I guess a heap of internal stuff could have been done utilising the tiny minifigs like Hogwarts,...that way you could have hangers with tie-fighters, engine room etc etc. But then,...how much would it cost and can the frame support the beast with all the internal stuff?? I am guessing, probably not. Excellent release, in my view.
  4. Yeah,..like that. Would love to see a huge Moonbase, with buildings and launch pads. Oh well,...hope springs eternal.
  5. Thanks for the answer. The listings were by retailer on Aussie Ebay, utilising the LEGO brand. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/pending-24/163659200239?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3D7574d475c75e4dc19edc9faf65910226%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D15%26sd%3D283468956602%26itm%3D163659200239&_trksid=p2481888.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3Ab3cda202-751d-11e9-ad8e-74dbd1804a34|parentrq%3Aaec9879216a0ac1cc237ffa9ffd7c6bf|iid%3A1
  6. Indeed,...thanks for the reply. I guess I had it in my head the theme would be on MARS,...like the old Classic Space theme (presumably the Moon).
  7. I guess I am just a little confused? Is this is supposed to be part of a Mars base?? Some figures have helmets,...one building is enclosed and there seems to be a bit sampling. But on the other hand one building is open and some figures are dressed up,.....non-space fashion?? Is this new City theme on Mars?? I mean the theme is called LEGO City Mars Exploration sets??
  8. Is it just me or does anyone else thing the repair servicing centre should be enclosed?? Love the rocket and launcher!!
  9. Interesting comments from the lads. Certainly room is an issue,...not just for the models, but also for the boxes they come in. I guess I am lucky,...as I have a mancave (although its mainly devoted to another Hobby). So I do have space,...not infinite, but certainly some space. I guess once that is filled Ill have the same view as many here regarding big sets. On another note, I have noted in Aussie Ebay that there is a set (unknown theme) for pre-order retailing at $1000AUD and another Star Wars set for also $1000 AUD. Neither detail what the set is,...or how many pieces. In Australia Ninjago City retails for around $500-$800 one can only surmise this will be a big set,....even taking into account the increase mark up for a new release. Both sets have more than one seller. Any guesses/info on what they may be??
  10. Terrific review JIM and I really appreciate the effort. Being new to the forum and with only two modular sets,....I too am rather surprised with the lack of tiling in the garage ground floor and, for me its a bit of a eyesore and disappointment. Also agree,..the Vet on the second floor is a bit meh! In fact having a vet above a garage seems weird. I do like the components of the set. But together it looks odd and the finish is a bit disappointing. Once again, thanks for the review.
  11. Yeah,...….that would be cool indeed. Add a couple of Rocket launch pads.
  12. Hello lads and Lasses. I had a bit of a search utilising catch words etc and went through general discussion up to 2016,....way before the release of the 75192 - UCS Millennium Falcon. So if the subject has come up before, I do apologize. So,..the Millennium Falcon and all its 7541 pieces has been released and my version is currently on display,....I am guessing like pretty much everyone else here. But what can top it? What would you lads like to see top it with the number of pieces and general size? I personally love the larger kits and I am trying to enforce a rule of 3000 pieces or more (with some failures) to justify the purchase. What do guys think of the larger kits? Is bigger better? Do we want to see another epic kit like 75192?? My choice thus far would be another Ninjago City module. But I also love to see a huge moon/mars base? What about you? Once again, if the subject has come up, I apologise.
  13. I see,...well, I hope Lego's security is better than last year. I guess they are big and expensive sets (although I think they are terrific value for money) and perhaps more need to be sold before Lego considers developing a new one. Mind you, I have no idea what method Lego utilises in deciding to add to a theme. No doubt its been explained in this place a number of times. But I am new so Ill learn as I go along.
  14. That's really cool. Love some of the more spooky/piratical bits and pieces. If Lego made it and it was as good and very big, I would buy it for sure.
  15. Have to say I am curious myself. When is all of this going to be real??
  16. That is really sad to see and no offence, I hope you are wrong mate. Other than the Ginormous Millennium Falcon the two Ninjago City Sets are my favourite Lego sets so far. They spectacularly intricate, colourful and incredibly fun. I love the Modular Expert City stuff, but they way back second compared to Ninjago City and I cannot but help that the next Ninjago City set, is for me, the most anticipated future Lego set. Wonderful review VBBN and I really enjoyed going through your post, brings back fun memories of my build. Fingers crossed there is another,....and another,....and another.....
  17. Love it,...love to see something like that. I still reckon, with CS the Galaxy Explorer has yet to be beaten in the Gravitas category and I hope Lego find a way to beat it. Of course that's just my opinion. I also would like to see some bigger building and launch facilities,...like a proper modular spaceport as CS theme.
  18. Sounds ideal,...in my case anyway. I think Ill wait and see how these turn out before any more 'classic' space buys. Thanks.
  19. Interesting to see the Space theme coming back. Which puts me in a pickle. I had intended to continue to pick up the Luna Space sets from the 90s to join my wonderful Galaxy Explorer. But some of the releases look very similar to those sets of yesteryear. Rocket Launcher base, Rocket carrier etc etc. I wonder if the Galaxy Explorer will look out of place with these new sets?
  20. Thank You Leafan,...and to Reaper, Technics and Dr Spock for the welcome. That's great news on the spaceships. No doubt I have an interest in those. I kick myself regarding the old space sets. I'll continue grab some more of the old moonbase sets as I can. Trying to find them in great nick, at a reasonable price is challenging, but like most collectable hobbies, its the hunt that is fun. Cheers Lads.
  21. WOW,...some incredible stuff in this thread. I also hope very much for another addition of Ninjago to join 'Docks' and 'City'. Be wonderful to have a large Ninjago city. I'm fairly new to the Hobby and I am sorry if I am going over old ground, but is there any hint that Lego will release more large Ninjago sets to join 'City' and 'Docks'?
  22. Hello to all the Lego Community. My name is Christian, from Sydney Australia. I am a 49 year old NSW Paramedic, which is a relatively new career as I was a soldier for 29 years (yes its as long as it sounds). I have a mancave,......my first Hobby is Diecast Aircraft and some armour (over a 1000 pieces). Years ago, when I was a kid I collected Space Lego. I cannot even remember where it all ended up, which is a bugga because clearly I should have kept it. But couple of years ago, I caught the Lego bug again. It started off with Apollo 11 and then the ginormous Millennium Falcon,...which I loved building (all 7000 odd pieces of it). These days, I collect the old Space Lego (started with Galaxy Explorer), Ninjago and Creator. I am finding myself getting into building the cities from Creator and Ninjago world. Currently finishing up with Ninjago Docks, where I just cannot wait to join it with Ninjago City. Next will be Creator 'Assembly Square'. I really like the big sets,...preferably over 3000 pieces and I am really looking forward to the next Ninjago set to join Docks and City. Fantastic forum,.....and I am just stunned and envious of the "MOC" (did I get that right?) sets. Maybe one day I can give that a go. I had forgotten just how clever Lego is. Stay well all.
