I think the red 8T would not allow me to slide the gear to mesh with other gears (blocked by the lego pieces with hold the sliding 8T in place.
my another attempt:
thanks for the alternatives. I think the upper one (orange) will be strong enough, I will try it out. Thanks!!!
Edit: Just tried and it is definitely not as strong as the black 48496.
Edit: I just want to align the sliding gear to the stud because my other gears meshing with are aligned to the stud as well.
Hi All,
I am looking for a way to put the gear in the attached picture align with the stud, so I am thinking of 0.5L pin connector. I cannot use a thin bush because I want the whole thing to slide along the axle.
What can I do?
Thanks in advance!
Thanks. So if I use an EV3 medium motor then I don't need to use a stepper? Can I assume that the motor is accurate enough to do 90 degree turn without a stepper?
How do I prevent the orange selector from going from "4th gear" to "1st gear". Some folks here mentions the need to prevent it from "7th gear" to "reverse". I guess it is the same thing.
Also, do you have any suggestion on a compact motorized limiter for the orange selector?
Thanks alot!
Hi All,
I am a beginner and am trying to figure a compact way to shift my driving gears along one direction in a gearbox. Should I use a set of worm gears or linear actuator? Do I need a stepper or limiter to ensure the gear move to the exact position to mesh with the follower gears? Attach is the example.
