  1. 'll take some photos when I can then, did a parts order to upgrade one recently so will show that when it's ready too. Looks great! Really love the subtle curves you got into the roof there, great variation of the Ideas model. Never though about using the Indy hat for 4, smart choice
  2. Yes, but this is unrelated to that goal I find it interesting how Despite them trying to do big marketing pushes for the show internationally at the start of both of the most recent eras the show really was only able to break into international markets (In the modern era, PBS and other public broadcasters loved Tom Baker episodes in the 70s, 80s) in viewers and slowly building up a retail presence in the one period where LEGO Dimensions was happening which allowed all those new parts which were a no-no with ideas at the time. This is general discussion, maybe I should share some of my custom figures and MOCs here
  3. LEGO Doctor Who is funny, it literally only could have happened in the front end of the 2010s and came in at the literal eleventh hour of that in December 2015
  4. Since there's not a shrek page I'll say this here, they need to do an Upscaled Gingy since they're doing licenced ones now for the obvious reason
  5. Interesting that the year of space branding seems to noe be for all Spaxe sets
  6. For the Elsa-verse Spiderman of course Also the movie was delayed pretty late, it probably was a loose tie in like the Looney Tunes CMF was for Space Jam 2 but the film was delayed so they kept it. Not like Shrek needs a film to market itself anyways Why I'm surprised Gingy isn't a pack in with someone too, but I guess it makes sense he's a figure given that they already have a mold for him. Anyone else find it funny the one character from anything outside of the first two films is a random side character from Shrek the Third?
  7. My dream theme is The Nutshack. I know that'll be coming in the next five years
  8. Okay, I'm not a fan of Street Fighter so maybe I'm missing something but literally everything I've seen from it is that it's a campy, pretty bloodless, regulated fighting tournament between people or monsters with super powers to win a prize or title or something right? Why are some people here acting like it's even pushing LEGO's boundaries? I think what's stopping it would be if kids give a shit about it even remotely. Interesting architype to do pretty much immediately after a Willy "Wonker" set, hope it means there's some really inventive spin on it
  9. Well Street Fighter would get you Polka-dot Man I guess Yeah, right. I thought it was Street Fighter too but that makes me think Shrek
  10. You both did way better than I could, if I really sat with it maybe I could have dug out Gillian's character from the recesses of my brain but that's it. So with Ruby, Shelly, Stone, Jurgen, Sarah, Peter and Mouse that's 7 actual names. plus Murdoch's unnamed trinity which could what they're credited as that is just under or just over the Olympics CMF. There for it will absolutely be Jumanji, no further discussion. Mods close this topic now
  11. I think I could see Street Fighter? Maybe, is that getting a big push? LEGO is doing a lot of gaming licences lately
  12. Notice how none of them were named
  13. Like, going off the honour system here, can we name 12 Jumanji characters without looking them up?
  14. Yeah exactly my point, even if you really love their look they are just aping what Mega did at either an equal or slightly worse quality but for ridiculously more. They have more pieces but they're not really any better looking, they don't display better and they definitely aren't more playable
  15. Kinda, but a big part of the UCS sets is they can only be so hyper detailed at the scale they're at. The Starter Trio really doesn't look impressive to me because it's 3 slightly upscaled Mega Blox Pokemon sets on a black base, Like if we look at the big Bowser or Mario in his kart set they're smoother and more accurate to the shaping which makes them impressive as builds, I get why they're expensive even if I wouldn't buy them but this set really feels only impressive in it's price which makes it feel more tacky to me. More excessive than impressive from my point of view I guess
  16. God those sets were so cheap in the 2010s, really should have taken advantage of that. But I think what this commenter meant was doing like a brick built Smaug which I think is the only Hobbit set LEGO would do
  17. I don't know if this registers for anyone else but I think a big issue with the adults welcome era is sets frequently don't justify their price, I don't mean in terms of poor value but as in was this the scale this set needed to be. Big sets like Rivendale, sure can only be what they are at the scale they are but all of these Pokemon sets? They simply don't look good enough to be this expensive and they're not forced to be in scale with anything but themselves, like the quality of the shaping and builds could easily be achieved for at least half the price for all of these just at a smaller scale (as shown by the mega blox sets) but they're upscaled because fans are ravenous enough to pay that. I feel the same about the Star Trek set and a good few others.
  18. Probably more so actually haha Yeah actually, only ever touched that with Disney pirates stuff
  19. If it really is a classic series this is a perfect lineup (Well it's missing the single most beloved and iconic minifigure ever but we forgive and forget). Do you think they'd do a Rock Monster as an accessory for a Power Miner? Might be the only chance they do one again
  20. That'd make sense too, if it is that it's a very coincidental series to have this error
  21. How well must that set have sold both times before for it to be remade 5 years later? Like I get doing a Kai vehicle he sells best but I never thought this was one of the big ones, thought it sold as well as any Kai car does
  22. Yeah, don't think they'd use that vocabulary, never seen it before. Could be wrong but this seems like a point to a nostalgia series.
  23. I think it's an argument for legit criticism. Because of course you can talk about the issues you have with these things but you're not gonna say anything of substance if you don't understand the process that goes into making them. Like to circle back to movies I think when discussing how franchise stuff is made most people online assume it's still the 70s and everyone has the sway of big auteur directors, that people just go to a studio and say "I want to write it this way" then they hire a director who does exactly what they want and it's then put to cinemas. This simply doesn't happen with big IP stuff. If there's issues in Star Wars 78: The Return of Jafar the clearly these people just are idiots who don't get how to make movies. It's a childish way of looking at how any form of corporate funded art is made. There was a really interesting interview done by the co-director of the last King Fu Panda film breaking this down. There's a million weird bureaucracy things creatives have to deal with to get anything approved in these scenarios
