  1. The funny thing is, I have lots of Lego city, and I have never realised that Lego police don't have guns (thinking back it is true, I have just never realised). For Lego town ideas, I just like regular stuff, I would love a Lego school, hairdresser, grocery store, etc... sets that have both the playability factor and the opportunities to have really cool accessories.
  2. Hey Chris, it is me, I have just come out of my second dark age.

    And your Minis are amazing.

    Cheers

  3. Great review on a really cute set. My daughter loves this set, and apparently the figure is 'Oma', which I think is why she likes it so much. We love the zoo sets. My daughter likes the animals, and duplo figures that resemble people around her, I am this zoo lady. I wish we had bought 6137, but my daughter at 2 1/2 has already decided that she likes Mama's Lego, so sadly she rarely plays with her duplo anymore.
  4. Hi, I don't know if I have understood the rules correctly, but here is my entry, 'love under the big top'. It is the circus scene from 'Big Fish'. Edward Bloom sees a beautiful girl across the circus ring, the girl he knows will one day be his wife... “They say when you meet the love of your life time stops, and that’s true… What they don’t tell you is that once time starts again, it moves extra fast to catch up.” Category B vignette - Big Fish by tikitikitembo, on Flickr Oh and obviously the little clown is my series 5 minifig :) Thanks for looking.
  5. Wow, that is huge, no wonder he mentions that he doesn't have room to keep them built (other than needing the pieces).
  6. A zoo would be an amazing theme, it would be a great transition for kids from duplo to lego, and a great addition to my Lego animal wants. (so I think it would be perfect for both the kids market and the AFOL market). If they brought out a zoo theme and a school theme in the same year, I would probably openly cry in the middle of the toy aisle (tears of joy)
  7. I am an optimist, so I have voted. (In Australia, many of the modular were hard to get and almost twice the price as in the US (when our $ was on parity), that changing is something I am less optimistic about).
  8. is back from her second dark age.

  9. I agree, the sushi is amazing, but it is all the extras that make this awesome. Such lovely details, and I am definitely going to have to have sushi for lunch tomorrow now.
  10. For a purely selfish reason I want Lego to win. Because at the moment, when looking on ebay at bulk lots, if I identify non Lego figures, I can assume there will also be non lego elements (and make my decision accordingly). If clone brand minifigs look too much like Lego minifigs, this will become increasingly difficult (and I will probably end up making more accidental clone brand purchases). But, my son would probably like comparable clones with more weapons (but that is what brickforge/brickarms etc are for).
  11. I use any hollow container I can find to store my Lego. I do have a preference of few different containers (The sistema 5L clipit container is a new favourite) and also fishing tackle boxes (big clear ones). I also like 20 to 30L containers for bricks and plates. I don't particularly like drawers (although I do use some). When they get full I find they are hard to open, and will fix themselves by scraping the top elements and they fall into the next layer). If they are not full, they are good (I find especially for small technic pieces and minifig accessories). I wish I had a clear idea when I started to collect Lego, because now my collection is a huge mess of mis-matched containers. (Although when I started I used zip-lock lunch bags stored in ice-cream containers Lego storage - workspace by tikitikitembo, on Flickr
  12. These are awesome and full of clever ideas and building techniques. As I go down the list of pictures I think... wow, I love this one... scroll down a little more... no, this one is brilliant... scroll down more... wow, this one is awesome. So I can't pick a favourite vignette (ok, maybe the gangster one, it is really clever and well executed).

    Fire rescue

Great scene Cecilie. I really love the fire damage on the floor it looks awesome. And awesome female firefighter
  14. Great review. I have the girl on my Lego building desk (missing the stationary components) and the boy still in the box. I love these desk pals... but I am a huge fan of Lego 'non-building' merchandise. I ordered them at the time from a store in Texas and they offered free shipping... to Australia... I was pretty happy
  15. That is really cool, you have captured their likeness perfectly.
  16. These are gorgeous. Great use of pieces to get the shapes. I would wear the white ones... they are really beautiful.
  17. That is a really cute ice-cream truck, you have done a good job. I have tried an ice-cream truck but it was less successful my attempt I have pre ordered the lego ideas book, it looks like it will be a great addition to my Lego library.
  18. That was freaking awesome. I think it has to be the best brick animation I have seen. Loved when he jumps through the mirror, when there is the ripple across the ground, when the drummer hits the bell, the images in the eyes, when it zooms out in the end... I loved it all. And 2 years, you are a more patient person than I am (which shows in your animation, it was flawless).
  19. Awesome video. My son and I love Eddie Izzard (and the lego youtube versions). Your giraffe was done brilliantly... very evil :)
  20. That is a good idea, although I would need to source some (I don't own any technic figures). You are right about the scala figures, they only move at the knee, elbow, shoulder and hip (I only have two anyway) whereas I have quite a few belville.
  21. Thanks Huey and Red bricks. In my film, I think the music makes the difference, when you watch it without music, it actually looks quite lame. I am going to experiment with techniques as I learn them (before I start another project). My husband has already taught me how to change where the camera focuses so things will be a little more in focus next time I am also going to play with Scala and Belville Lego dolls because they have more movement I can work with.
  22. Thanks darkdragon, especially for the book links. I didn't know where to start, so I have now ordered, Stop Motion: Craft Skills for Model Animation. It has good reviews and I think is a great place for me to start. Now I can't wait for it to arrive.
  23. Thanks for that Fallen tomato (I had just looked at some of your work today on youtube, you do some brilliant stuff). I am going to try and work with more frames per second, I will need to practice how little movement is needed to get the movement at the right speed (otherwise everyone will be running around, when I want them to walk). I will also try working from one side to the other when working with a crowd of minifigs. (Sometimes I forgot to move minifigs (for example, the surfer in 1:14 to 1:17 just stops walking because I was so focused on other movement in the scene. I might also set up my laptop in my Lego room and work from that so I can get some instant feedback as to whether it is working.
  24. I have finished the clip using my initial techniques (I am too impatient a person to do it all over again . For my next project, I will do some reading beforehand about stop motion techniques (and probably learn how to take a better photo) so my next video doesn't have the obvious flaws that this one does. My toddler loves Lego stop motion (ok, she loves the beer song), so I am thinking of doing some child themed ones (so dr seuss books in stop motion, maybe wiggles clips etc). But I also need to learn about copyright laws
  25. Thanks Huey for the excellent feedback. I am not very camera smart, so to be honest I just push the button and hope it turns out ok (which has been difficult with stop motion as I can't move the camera, and if certain objects move in certain spots it makes the focus go crazy). Looking over the clip, I think the flickering might have been the position of my body (I am using artificial light behind me, so I think I need to move out of the way before taking the photo). We have a remote for the camera (my husband works in the camera industry, so we have lots of stuff which would probably help me) I just don't know how to use it. I might get him to teach me (I will wish him good luck with that). I am going to start taking more photos than I will need, like you suggest, so I can just remove some to get the timing just right. That seems like a great solution to my timing issues.
