I have a tough choice to make. Seems like both 42055 and 42056 would be retiring soon. Wanted to know which is a more satisfying set of the two? There is a $70 gap between the two. Were I to choose one of them, which should it be? -
I am a relatively new Lego fan. I was looking to get insights on what are considered to be the top 10 technic sets after the set numbering changed to 4****. I currently have 42043, 42064, 42066 among big sets and I just bought a 42054. Would love to hear what the fan favorites are!

So I saw 42064 going out of stock on Walmart and Target. I kicked myself for not picking it up when it was for $95 for sale at Walmart a couple of weeks back. It's still available on Lego site for $119. So I decided I wanted it and drove to the Lego store to pick it up. Guess what! It's $95.99 on sale at Lego store (not online). I am not sure if this offer is valid at all locations, but you can check it out. Also got a Lego 40320 set free with it! All in all a good deal!

Hey guys, so now that these 4 new technic sets are out, there would be no other new big ones for the rest of the year right? So as I have said here before, I have decided to get one big technic set for every month of the year. I already have 42066 for August, 42043 for September. Among the sets available in US for decent price right now I will definitely get the 42055 and 42078 in Black Friday sale in November. This leaves October and only one other sub $150 set, the 42054. I don't know if its just me, but this set just does not visually attract me. This is available for $150 in the US and I am sure its going to go off the shelves soon. My question is, should I buy this? Why is this set so highly regarded? I am not a reseller and I am not into MOC(at least as of yet). What would be a compelling reason for me to spend $150 on this? I don't like 42069 at all, so I wouldn't buy it for $120 either. Also I don't foresee prices for 42070, Porsche or the Chiron drop -ever. $150 for this or for something interesting like the Old Fishing Store?

Among the currently available set, if recommend the Light Helicopter, The racing Yatch and the Hook Loader. These are my favorites. I also have 42066 and 42043 which I'm yet to build! I've heard good things about them.

Thanks for all the advice. I already have the Arocs which I'm major league excited to build! Also bought the 42066 as I really wanted it. I will build one of them in August and one in September. I've decided to get one set for every month. Keeping the budget around $150 per month. I feel I might get the Mack Truck for that price and Maybe BWE in Black Friday sale, if I can extend my budget to 200? I like how the Porsche looks but I doubt it will have a price drop. I've never seen it on sale in Slickdeals. In case I don't get the Porsche for a good price, anything else I should snatch for below 200?

Where did you get it from for $209? I see. I've decided to get the 42066. I love how it looks. I also like the Ocean Explorer but the size and position of the helicopter bothers me. Somehow CLAAS Xerion doesn't do it for me. Love how the cab swivels, but can't get excited enough about a tractor. Well maybe it's just me! Yes decided on the Race Jet over Ocean Explorer and Xerion, purely based on looks.

Thanks for the detailed reply. The reason I'm so keen on 42066 is because Lego has way too many helicopters (including themes like City) and very few planes. And love how the VTOL functions look. I wonder why that set is so little talked about? This discussion has piqued my interest in 42055 and 42078. Hopefully will pick up both in a good sale(Black Friday probably) I cannot believe I missed the 42055 for $200 at Walmart recently.

Hey guys, I recently got the Arocs in the Prime Day sale. My birthday's coming up in October and I want to gift myself something good(just need an excuse so I don't feel guilty about spending so much), I am torn between the Mack Anthem, BWE and the new Crane 42082. I love how the red looks and have been hearing how BWE is overrated because it's very slow and a tedious build. Will I be missing out if I skip on the Mac Anthem, now that I've got Arocs? Also if I get Porsche for a price similar to BWE which one Should I get? ( Since I read the points about getting older sets first, I can probably wait for 42082) Also I love how 42066 Race Jet looks. Is that a better value over CLAAS Xerion and Ocean Explorer? Sorry for so many confusing questions. Thanks!
