  1. I think that’s an absolute bogus complaint. And if there’s any license that deserves full waves of sets it’s LOTR. And I resent the statement that LOTR isn’t for a large age range, that’s just not true
  2. A few thoughts. I already mentioned that the fact that everyone uses the standard sword piece might be a bad sign since weapon molds would probably be one of the first things they would make if there was actually a legit reboot. So that has me worried. Also, all three of these Brickheadz sets look really good. Aragorn’s hair should be dark brown, not light. Same with Frodo. It’s a nitpick, but I would hope potential minifigures wouldn’t have the same problem. That’s really the only negative thing I have to say about these. Gollum looks so cute! The Balrog looks amazing!!!! I’ll definitely be getting all of these The box art is amazing
  3. Pics of the Brickheadz are out!!! I don’t want to abandon hope yet, but Frodo looks like he just has the newer regular sword piece, which could be a sign that there aren’t more sets in the works, at least not ones that will bring back the Sting piece. Could be nothing though The Brickheadz do look great though
  4. Right!? We’ve got a Ninjago Balrog and a Monkie Kid Mûmak. What is happening?? The only thing that makes me think it might not be just a one off set is the fact that those Brickheadz are coming out as well. That means there are likely some real LOTR wheels turning at lego
  5. The hope is that LOTR will branch outside of the Icons branding after this set
  6. I just don’t understand why lego doesn’t realize most adults want regular sets. A D2C per year is fine but we mostly want regular style sets with good builds and plenty of minifigures
  7. I’m not into Brickheadz but I’m excited for these. I think they’re good choices too. Although I think a Sauron Brickhead would look really cool
  8. It definitely shares a resemblance although I hope they wouldn’t use those same pieces for a LOTR set, the shaping is wrong for an actual Balrog. It is a cool resemblance though
  9. Idk, LOTR has a lot of unique weapons and armor that would need to use new molds, not to mention creatures
  10. Harry Potter is definitely more popular than LOTR (which blows my mind, I like HP but it’s not even close), so I wouldn’t expect that same treatment with something like LOTR. Although even a fraction of that budget would do wonders for a LOTR theme
  11. There were only two waves of LOTR sets. Three waves of Hobbit sets. Gondorian soldiers definitely would been in the next wave. Wave two was just so small
  12. I disagree, I think the market is there, I just think lego is intentionally blind to it for some reason
  13. The only questionable choice I can think of is Pirate Ship Ambush, but I don’t even think that was a bad choice. The ship itself was very detailed and large and accurate and the Oathbreakers were extremely desirable. I remember the sets being almost impossible to find at launch, I had to order them on Amazon. I always wondered if they had bad production issues and if that helped lead to the death of the theme
  14. Yeah they aren’t exactly known for good decision making. “LOTR didn’t sell very well last time so let’s approach it differently. I know! $500 set and Brickheadz because everyone loves those!” Lol I’m so scared this theme will die before it actually gets a chance to live I still can’t quite wrap my head around the sets not selling well before. They were amazing sets, I just don’t get it. I feel like they would have appealed to a lot of people. I’ve heard some say the set choices were bad but I just can’t agree with that. It felt well paced, they can’t make all the most wanted sets at once and then lose their audience. Idk what happened.
  15. If the theme truly is returning, it would be absolutely crazy for lego not to make battle packs. I mean it’s like the concept of battle packs was made for a LOTR theme, it’s so perfect. Gondorians, Rohirrim, different types of Orcs, Uruk-Hai, Haradrim, Easterlings, Oathbreakers, Lorien Elves, Rivendell Elves, Second Age Gondorians, Corsairs of Umbar, the potential is endless. Army building factions in Middle Earth is so perfect for lego. That’s the kind of thing lego should be doing to gauge interest in the theme instead of Brickheadz and a $500 D2C (as excited as I am for the D2C). They should have done a small wave consisting of one large location set, two medium sets, and two battle packs, then release a D2C in the summer/fall to test the collectors market
  16. I will definitely buy all three to support it. I’m not into Brickheadz at all really. I have a couple Star Wars ones and a HP one that was a GWP I just held onto. But I don’t generally buy them, they’re not my thing. But I will absolutely get all three of these!
  17. Lego would be insane to release this and then do nothing else for the theme knowing the demand for it. It could be they’re using this to gauge interest in the theme and if it does well they’ll make more. I would be crushed if this is all we get. But the fact that there are Brickheadz too show that maybe they really want to do something with it. Still, releasing Brickheadz and a $500 D2C before any normal sets sure is the strangest way to test the waters. All we can do is spend our money on it and hope enough other people do the same to send lego the right message
  18. I recently broke the arms on my Rohan Soldier. Luckily I had other dark green arms lying around. I’ve definitely broken a handful of LOTR pieces over the years. Luckily nothing that’s broken has been irreplaceable
  19. Updated face prints, molds, updated more detailed printing, there’s alway ways to improve, especially after ten years. I was unsure how much improvement could be made for Harry Potter when we found out about the reboot but look how that turned out, the minifig designs are incredible. Lego is always updating printing, molding, and parts usage.
  20. I would not be happy if they used that. Doesn’t work at all. I’ll take the old Gandalf hat over that. Also, your Lindir and Figwit purist figures sound great! But as much as I love making purist figures that work well enough with prints that are available, I would always prefer official prints, especially for something like LOTR where there’s a very particular look that need to be captured. Lego has no excuse to reuse things like Chinese New Year prints for LOTR Sure the old minifigs are fine. But all of them can definitely be improved. It’s been ten years
  21. I would make the case that dual molded printed arms for Boromir would be perfect. But I agree that it’s probably not necessary for many others in this set if any
  22. This set is such a wildcard at this point, and is raising so many questions, that it’s hard to say with any confidence whatsoever. That would be cool though. Some people would probably be mad because exclusive GWPs tend to be controversial. But I plan on getting this day 1 so I’d be happy to get a freebie with it. IF there would be a GWP, I wonder if it would have something to do with Rivendell or if it would be unrelated to the set itself. Honestly though, for a D2C releasing three months from now, I would think the existence of a GWP would already be known
  23. Yes I think the Narsil display AND the Sauron and Isildur mural are essential things that need to be included
  24. The good thing is there are really only 12 essential characters for this set: Frodo, Sam, Merry, Pippin, Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, Boromir, Elrond, Arwen, and Bilbo. Any additional figures could pretty much only be some background Elves, Gloin from the Council scene, maybe other random people from the Council, or Ringwraiths if they choose to include the Ford of Bruinen scene, but any of those would be merely bonuses for me. I would welcome them gladly! But those first 12 are the only ones that I would deem “essential” for a $500 Rivendell set. Now if they choose to make this set represent both The Hobbit and The Fellowship Of The Ring, that’s a different story entirely, but I do find it unlikely.
  25. Galadriel wouldn’t come in a Rivendell set unless it was based on The Hobbit. But I would absolutely love a big Lothlorien set down the line. Also, I totally disagree about Theoden, he’s extremely important and is released from Saruman’s grip fairly early in the second film. His role is very big in both The Two Towers and Return of the King. But no, he would have no reason to be in a set based on Fellowship of the Ring. And the Witch King is the lord of the Nazgûl. Stabs Frodo on Weathertop, wears an awesome helmet/crown in Return of the King at the Battle of Pelennor Fields, killed by Eowyn with the assist from Merry In my opinion, old Bilbo is a MUST for this set. Gloin would be a cool bonus. I’d love to see an alternate scary face for Bilbo I definitely agree about a hat/hair mold for Gandalf, that’s a must. My biggest one is still a specialized mold for Narsil/Anduril, I remember being so disappointed that we didn’t get one in the Black Gate and Pirate Ship Ambush sets. A dual molded Sting would be cool, but I don’t think I would want the blue blade to be the only option. If blue and non blue were both available at the same time (not necessarily in the same set) that would be pretty cool to have both of those options The information that it’s a Rivendell set, most likely with minifigures is huge news with so many implications, I think that’s worth some serious speculation and discussion. Obviously it would be foolish to take it as 100% confirmation, as always, but it’s still potentially huge news. I’m just surprised is all, we’ve only added about two pages since the news dropped. If this was Harry Potter, we would have gotten through about 20 new pages by now. Idk, I just found it strange and a little surprising
