The more I think about the advent calendar, the more awesome it becomes to me. 3 confirmed exclusive minifigures with a likely fourth (Flitwick will likely have some variation from his CMF since they typically can’t reuse CMF prints). For $40, what a deal. I’m really hoping McGonnogall gets the dress piece!

I agree, it’s not necessary, but it would be very neat to have both versions (even though I like the newer version much better), just like it was very nice to get both versions of Dumbledore

That’s just what sources have said at this point. Maybe it’s true, maybe it isn’t. I’m hoping that it includes the third task and that’s why it’s that price. That way we get the other champions in their maze uniforms, I would love that

Wow, I hope to see the story completed. It may not be perfect, but I want a chance to see where they plan to take it and Lego tie-ins are always welcome!

The rumored graveyard duel is the $50 one

As many times as it’s come up before, seeing the film changes many things. Also, trying to figure out which number suits we need to add to our Lego collection does pertain to set discussion. I see plenty of discussion on what the official sets were missing, so discussing which number War Machine suits we didn’t get is just as relevant to this discussion as everything else the sets were missing.

It’s important to some people in order to differentiate. Why so offended?

Those War Machine suits can’t possibly both be Mark 6. They are very obviously two different suits. The blue and red suit has to be either mark 5 or (more likely) Mark 7. OR perhaps the first suit is mark 5 and there was just a mistake in the art for it and then the blue and red suit is mark 6. I didn’t see the writing on either of the suits in the film so if someone did, please correct me Also, did we ever get an official name for Tony’s new suit? It can’t be mark 85, that didn’t fit in the context of the film at all, so I’m gonna go with mark 51 until I see official evidence to the contrary

So last year I built the Great Hall and Whomping Willow sets in LDD before they came out by looking at the pictures (they didn’t end up being perfect but I was surprised how accurate I got them), and today I did the same with the Clock Tower and connected it to the others. I connected it to the other side of the Great Hall (where I believe it’s meant to be connected) and it actually doesn’t look bad at all when connected directly to the Great Hall, it looks very nice. At this scale, where they obviously aren’t trying to make it extremely accurate like the D2C, they’re just making good quality connectable Hogwarts playsets, it really works. It looks like it will basically be forming a big rectangle once it’s complete. Looking from above, the Great Hall is one side, the Clock Tower is the top, the Whomping Willow section is the bottom, and I assume the eventual Astronomy Tower will be the main bulk of the other side, with most likely a couple smaller sections filling up some space as well. I’m excited to see what else we get in the future, I’m loving these Hogwarts builds!

Gosh I hope the graveyard set is from GOF and not COG.

I’ll probably just open it all at once if I’m honest. I’ve never actually gotten one of the advent calendars before but I’ll definitely be getting thisnone and I’m considering the Star Wars calendar this year as well. Always wanted to pick them up but for some reason I just never do Also, the trees in the Expecto Patronum set have great pieces to help mod the Horntail

Eh, I could live with a big fig Grawp. Although judging by the Horntail they’ll give him a bird’s head or something

Like I said, if you move the side build of the clock tower to the other side of the actual clock tower (which I think is where it realistically should be anyway, I could be wrong though), you can connect it without it looking bad. Technically, if it was accurate, it would then connect right behind the Main Tower, but since you can’t really connect it there, the side of the Great Hall will have to do. Some modifying may be necessary but there could be a way to do it without it. I would really have to have it in hand to be sure It also depends on which version of the castle you’re trying to replicate since it varies from film to film

I’ll be connecting the clock tower to the other side of the Great Hall since that’s where it is in the films. It’s in the back behind the Great Hall and the Main Staircase Tower. I’m pretty sure the side build should be on the other side of the actual clock tower and then that will connect to the Great Hall

Are Buckbeak’s wings the short ones (Occamy) or the long ones (Thunderbird)? They look like the short ones but it’s hard to be sure

I checked to see if the velociraptor jaw would fit on the Occamy head but it doesn’t so I guess we’re stuck with a vegetarian Horntail. And for the record I would rather have a more expensive set but get a new molded head

I do like how they put the foot rests on the Firebolt

The clock tower itself does need to be a little bit wider but it still looks fantastic. Maybe I’ll mod it, maybe I won’t If anyone that makes custom prints ever produces a pink printed dress piece for Hermione I will buy it instantly. I think this figure really needed that. They chose to make the millimeter size difference a bigger deal than the whole figure looking weird. Wrong choice, Lego.

I’ll be making some serious modifications to that Horntail. The wings only looks bad because of how small and weird they made everything else with the exception of the possibly even weirder massive thighs. The neck is pathetic. I’ll still use the head even though it’s awful because it’s all I’ve got. But everything else is going to have to be modified

The Horntail looks so terrible I’m so disappointed with that set. It looks so bad! The original was better in every way

Both sets look phenomenal. I would change a few things about some of the figures (Hermione needs a dress piece) but the builds and the minifigures in general are so nice. The builds look amazing! I hope we get the rest soon!

Actually I think Hermione’s legs are just a printed brick

I can’t believe they gave Hermione medium legs instead of the dress piece. At least they’re printed from what I can tell
