  1. Great fig! I love the helmet and the silver armor decals on the fig. A suggestion of mine would be to use a cape which is less wooly/furry.
  2. I am not excited about the torso. There are other sand green torsos like that already. And in comparison with the CMF Elf it is underwhelming. The hair is great. The ears will need to be painted yellow, but that is ok. Long hair is often not compatible with capes though. The bow on the back is interesting. I cannot imagine a way to fit the CMF elfs longbow on the back of a fig, so maybe it is a bow without a string as a new mold. Something else would be great: A longbow that can be used by a fid on a horse without interfering with the saddle.
  3. Ok, this is useful information fo me when series 7 comes out. If dot decoding suddenly doesn't work anymore, it's good to know that it might be due to that.
  4. Interesting! How big is a lot? I bought 45 elves in three cities and they all had the same dots. But it was all in the same area, so I guess it was the same lot?
  5. Another Clarification: Dot users will be interested to know that Lady Liberty has the dots as indicated in the link I posted PLUS an additional one hidden in the letters and numbers in the right half of the bar.
  6. 2 of my 3 lady liberties have prints on their skirt that do not horizontally match the print on the torso
  7. I use more than one layer of paint and this usuallys works well in covering what's underneath. With other paints it might be an issue. I am going to post a few more paints once I have the time. Maybe this doesn't work out but it's worth a shot.
  8. Thanks Ibecks about the Lady Liberty Info. Interesting, I didn't know I was using a technique that is becoming obsolete. I am keeping it up though, once you know your pattern by heart you can browse through a box much quicker than with feeling. For series 6 this is not so important for me, because I don't need many figs, but for Series 7 black knights it will. Also I could imagine that shop owners appreciate feeling less because it wrinkles the bag. I use feeling to verify if I am not sure about a dot code.
  9. I must say, I am very pleased with the minotaur. I was not so sure about him when I saw the pictures, but now I like them. The golden metallic printing on the pants is very beautiful. They are cute, running around and bouncing into each other with their little horns, acting all important in front of the other figs "Hey, step aside, I have a bull's head." I am looking for a way to make then taller, maybe two 1x1 black plate as hooves. Maybe I can paint the eyes in a better colour, too. A regiment (stampede?) of 6 and 1 leader will suffice. Also I am not sure if the axe is a bit underwhelming for a character that is supposed to be very strong. They look good with the vikings shield but I guess they fight more in a berserk, not caring about defense style.
  10. I bought series 6 figs at Karstadt in Germany today. Other stores don't have them yet.
  11. At the moment, there seems to be just one sheet for series 6 dot codes, which is erratic. http://blog.betterthantomorrow.com/2011/12/23/minifigures-series-6-dot-codes-and-feel-instructions/ You can see that it is not precise when you compare Lady Liberty, Surgeon and Skater Girl, all of which appear to have THE SAME dot codes. These errors seem to live on, there are still dot sheets about the elf that miss a dot online So this threat is for clarification. And here is the first one: The Minotaur (of which I just got 5) has the dots indicated on the list PLUS 3 small dots that form a triangle in the very upper right corner of the bottom bar. These dots make it easy to differentiate from the Intergalactic Girl which has 1) also a big helmet that can feel like the big minotaurs head and 2) a laser beam that feels like the minotaurs axe (TLG did that on purpose IMHO). I had a hard time finding Lady Liberties today, becaus the box was already picked. Could someone verify her dot code? I am writing for Germany, so I cannot guarantee anything for other countries.
  12. Thanks for the hair comparison. I still wonder why they had to make dark gray dirt stains on the barding. @daleDVM: What is your sigfig wearing? Is it fabric or painted?
  13. For me, this is spectacular news. An elf in new colors will make great new regiments in my custom elf army. I hope it's not more sand green or even regular green. Dark blue or black or gray would be great. Light Blue would make good high elves. Red and yellow, meh, I would have to invent new tribes for that. I hope they do not just give the elf the werewolf's hair... but that would not fit the ears. Even if the color does not change, it will hopefully reduce the price for elv parts on bricklink. I bought my 45 elves for 2 Euro each, if I need more one day things get expensive. It's rather annoying that one has to buy a whole set and not single figs. But this beats buying an even bigger set just for the figs. As for the rest of the selection, I agree with you others, there are many better figs than the ones chosen.
  14. Update: Feb 2016: better recipe Reddish Brown Mix: Glossy 80 Email color 80% Matt 37 Email color 10% Matt 9 Email color All by Revell Germany 90% Take the pot with the 80 brown, pour in the 37 and 9. The result is quite satisfying, better than using pure 37, which is too reddish. Without the 9 it is not dark enough.
  15. Among the most difficult tasks in customizing is finding paint that matches the colour of lego parts. I spent a fortune once on 5 different paints in trying to find a suitable dark blue. This thread, therefore, is the attempt to collect information on paints that match official lego colors. If many participate, it can be a useful tool that saves time and money. I suggest the following format: Offical Lego color to be matched in Bricklink terminology bold in size 5 Name of paint Brand Country paint bought in estimated degree of similarity, see below for values optional: small (!) picture which shows paint used or link to picture optional: short additional remark for example: Dark Blue Aquamarine Blue [fictional example] Citatel/Games Workshop Paint Germany, but internationally available 70% looks dry different from wet, add a drop of black to increase matching, almost as black as the megablocks of a black buffalo in a moonless prairy night Suggestion about similarity values: 100% = If you apply that paint to a Lego part of the same colour, no difference would be noticable. 90% = very high similarity 80% = pretty good 70% = better than nothing 60% and worse = can be regardes as different colour Customizers, now it is up to you if this kicks off or not.
  16. My interest in the joust even dropped further when I just reminded myself that in CMF Series 7 a Black Knight which is IMHO superior to the one in the joust will be available... for 2,49 Euro ... in every number I want in every store I know.
  17. So great. I've been wanting to see this for ages! Thank you.
  18. I guess my tree demon would fit into the Non-Purist Section: Edit: Took out links and pic, because they are listed in the second post of this thread now.
  19. Thanks. The fabric is a official Lego elf cape. I had to cut up about 5 capes till I got it right. I practiced with spartan capes first, then with elf capes. When it was finally done, I accidentally dropped the tip into a bowl of soup. That's why it has the dark stains on the front. I am going to make a new one once I have the nerve.
  20. I like the idea of the horse! Not completely for the outcome, the horse is a bit too cute for my taste; but for the fact that you see the new horse mold, combine it with the old saddle and make compatibility issues yield to your will until it works how you like it. That's a good customizing spirit IMHO.
  21. Here some more pics. Had I allowed different colors such as dark brown, brown and regular green, much more would have been possible. But I limited myself to reddish brown and dark green to get colour coherence with the basic elf. A dark brown version would look even more demonic I guess. Painting was very unspectacular, there is no mastery behind that. The eyes are not painted by me, this is still the original paint. . von MWardancer . von MWardancer auf Flickr . von MWardancer auf Flickr . von MWardancer auf Flickr . von MWardancer auf Flickr . von MWardancer auf Flickr
  22. Thanks everyone. I'll post some more pics of the Tree Demon tomorrow. He was not easy to make because there are not many reddish brown parts. The Tree Demon is not supposed to stay alone. My next one will be taller and slimmer and have the hammerhead's head.
  23. Many who had the pleasure of meeting an elf conclude that elves embody qualities of a forest on a summer's day, such as hospitality, beauty, ageless wisdom, peacefulness and dignity. However, most who were unfortunate enough to travel a forest in a stormy night will agree that forests also have a threatening, demonic and archaic side. In times of war, Wood Elves tap these powers and direct them to destroy intruders. Many enemies therefore wear an expression of utter surprise on their faces even after they have perished. Wood Elf Druid Druids are the key to the forests' dark powers. Their most important activities are summoning various magical creatures and sacrificing enemies in the swamp. Customized parts: Snowtrooper helmet, backpack cut off, painted dark green, dark green capes cut and glued on. Spear tip painted white. Often referred to as Forest Balrog, these Tree Demons are not to be messed with. Never approach them with an axe. If a tree has a circle of mushrooms around it, it is most likely a tree demon. They entangle their enemies in their branches and rip them apart. Many tree demons befriend owls who serve as their air reconnaissance. Customized parts: Atlantis crab warrior head and claws painted. 1x1 plates with clip painted because for some reason they do not come in reddish brown. Big spikes painted dark green. 24. The email advertisment for the joust in the German LEGO S@H just came in. I am still not going to buy it. It has to many pieces that are similar to the castle. I just need the figs which will cost a fortune on BL. I was a bit surprised that in the German description they call the black knight explicitly a Falkenritter (falcon knight). I expected them to avoid the reference to the older faction and call him a "black knight" to refer to the black knight myth.
