'Behind The Helm' Episode #16 - Derfel Cardarn
Captain Zuloo replied to Captain Zuloo's topic in LEGO Pirates
By that I sincerely hope you don't mean Gigabites. -
Alright guys, I'm coming forward with the truth. Classic Pirates has planned another contest. The piece of map is indeed a treasure map. Along with each piece of the map there is a riddle. Once you have discovered all the riddles and worked out what the treasure is, it is your job to MOC it, although there are a number of rules. Stay tuned for more details on Wednesday!

MOC: Cumbres & Toltec senic railroad K-36 no. 484
Captain Zuloo replied to gcarstensen's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Great MOC! Your tiled boiler is very impressive, I bet you had some sore fingers and crushed spirits trying to get the internal structure there together! I would love to see a video of this beauty in action if you could find time to record one. This is a very well designed and built train, and I commend you on it. Well done mate, I'm extremely impressed. -
Ahoy there sea dogs, we be welcoming ye to the 16th Episode of 'Behind The Helm'! in this episode, Izzy and Connor get to talk with a MOC expert, famous for his landscapes. With a massive modular Pirate coastline project on the horizon, Luke Watkins (Derfel Cardarn) is a master of the brick. Please Note: This interview was recorded a while ago, so some of the "upcoming projects" may have already been published. It's still very interesting to hear about Luke though, so don't let it put you off! Download and listen to 'Behind The Helm' Episode #16 - Derfel Cardarn! Audio is coming, but with all these long and informative interviews, Izzy has been up to her neck in typing and so she has understandably been unable to get this interview typed up yet...so we've locked her away until she learns her lesson, at which point she will be able to continue to type up the interview for all those who prefer text format. Watch this space! Have you subscribed to the iTunes podcast yet?

I really think you should make the ladders 2-wide. At the moment they are far too wide, and not only is that historically inaccurate, but they don't look great either. I truly think you should make the ladders smaller before you build too much more (rigging etc.).

Actually Z, I'm so impressed by this that it has been

I've got it! It's a piece of piratical toilet paper! Who's with me?
-
I'd wager that Bricklink has 5 of them available!
-
Oh, now you're just being silly...
-
And I'll be the one gaurding my ship at the Pirates table like a hawk!

Brilliant work Z! I'm loving the proportions. That's a brilliant MOC, far better than the original version. Is she built to any particular scale? Those tiles make her excellent, only thing I would suggest is that perhaps you should replace the black grates with brown, but perhaps the black is a good thing as it is very distinct and stands out from the brown tiling. Worth experimanting with though. Good work, keep it up.

Haha, great Christmas MOC 74louloute! I like your use of the flintlock pistols for the reindeer ears, very inventive. Great that you've built a MOC to celebrate this time of year, I'm very impressed. Well done.

Well as I have no contact with him, please congratulate him on the fine work on my behalf. I know myself and TheBrickster are very interested, and so are some others. You should definately continue this great series of photos, keep up the work. They keep me frequenting the train forum.

Great, another Pirate game! They all look good, but I'm especially excited about Pirate Plank. This has been

We don't have any idea, honest!

Possibly. I think only time will tell with this one...
-
Great job with this, I love the concept of the cross-section. Well done.

She's looking very nice! Still, I wouldn't have the ladder splitting. I think you should go with one 2-wide ladder going up the side. I look forward to seeing the 3 decks with a bow and stern, although I fear that this ship may turn out a little stumpy. Keep us posted on further progress!

A great piece Tony! I just recieved my 2010 RB calendar, and this certainly stood out. Brilliant work again, and great work on a whole about the calendar.

Hey mate, welcome to Eurobricks! Like Dave suggested, perhaps you should consider uploading your images to an image hosting service and deeplinking your pictures in here. Here are some tutorials that you might find useful: Resizing Images Uploading Images to Brickshelf How to Deeplink and Post Images But remember to keep your images to a maximum of 800 x 600 pixels!

Wow, this is quite a project! It looks like us Frenchies will need to rally the troops if this is what we're up against. I look forward to following your progress.

Perhaps you could compile a list of EB members that are going in the first post?

Long before the 2009 Pirates line was announced, even when there were no sets, we still had a huge quantity of great discussion going on in the Pirates forum. People MOCing, and drawing etc. as was mentioned above is still pently of reason to keep a theme forum.

All will be revealed in the coming weeks... (And no, I'm not going anywhere)
