I figure the rims, orange reciprocating catch, and.the blue 20z clutch gear will be in the $10+ dollar range initially until they come out in another set. -

Yeah, but who in their right mind right now is thinking of opening their misb LE Crawler just for the dark blue parts? Anyone? When it’s value drops from $350+ to $150+ just by opening the box, One tends to let it age like fine wine. I would rather buy 2 Chirons and build one and harvest the other for parts, or better still wait and get my 2nd Chiron from some non-Lego maniac dumping it at a discount used. There will be plenty of those come a year from now. -
@Ngoc Nguyen ? ? it sounds like Dr Suess... I do not like my cranes on trains, I do not like my cranes on planes, I do not like my cranes on boats, or anything else that floats. I do not like cranes on hovercrafts, come on Lego, have you all gone daft? I like my cranes on big old trucks, like the ones that cost a thousand bucks. I like my cranes with sexy looks, especially with metal hooks. I like my cranes with extended booms, just not on every model in my Lego room. So just what will the new year bring? But another winch and a piece of string.

@I_Igor, I have access to all my old collection back in Ohio. I have a fortune in black 3L friction pins to combat the Technicolor in the future... but so far, I been able to keep things within my main color choices of red, black, dbg, and light grey for the most part and haven’t worried about standard pin colors, just axle colors, but since red is in my scheme, don’t mind using red axles, but yellow axles are “right out” to quote Monty Python ATHG. I tend to only use the yellow when completely hidden by journals and gears. @Ngoc Nguyen and @allanp, I was looking at TC10 contest entries and there were 2 Technic locomotives enter in the contest if you want to take a look.

Ok, took a look at the pictures and still nobody has said how the rear spoiler/brake works... hope it stays that way till Friday, but now that I have said something, someone is bound to chime in. -
@TechnicRCRacer, Tesla’s are a nice car, but the company is a bit overrated. My brother interviewed and was offered a job working on the Model 3 to help fix and improve their aluminum body panel stamping operations. But they low balled their offer and he declined because he would have lost money moving to Cali from Ohio and the huge step up in cost of living. He says it’s no wonder they are having issues getting good people to go out to San Fran and silly - con valley. One mistake Musk made was putting an automotive plant in the middle of the highest cost of living place in America. Most Tesla employees commute 2 hours a day to find affordable housing. Working there is more a cult following of Musk than anything else.

I wanted to see a video. But don’t let the number of posts in your thread be your guide. People look, but don’t comment much is what I have been seeing even in my own MOC posts. I have to admit, though, when the response to a MOC seems nonexistent, it makes working on a video a lot harder. I still need to make a better video for my own MOC for exactly this reason. That being said, here is my take on your MOC. First off, I like it. But for a kind of weird reason. It looks like a vehicle that would be built by a big manufacturer to fill out it’s offerings, so not a sedan, not an SUV, but more a cross over vehicle which is very popular in USA right now. The styling and the back end say economy, while the front says sporty and fun. RAV4 is not a bad description, and I kind of agree. Every car in Arizona is white, so it would fit right in here. I saw this car in the background of your Supercar X photos and was glad to see you got around to featuring it here. Thanks for sharing.

Just talked to my Lego Store, they do not have a waiting list. It will be first come, first serve this Friday, and to quote him, “unless 100 people show up, we will have enough for everybody waiting in line”. They currently have them in the back, they expect another shipment Thursday. So looks like I know where I will be Friday morning. -

They just went to 30% off last week here in Mesa Az store. I got extreme adventure and airport fire rescue, they had Claas tracktors and sailboats and pullbacks and Road crew sets still left. -

As far as naming goes I like White slip gear instead of white clutch gear. That’s my vote because those darn things just slip when they want to. Gears with driving ring interfaces should be called clutch gears, unless they are a diff, then it would be differential w/ clutch interface. Just my $0.02 -

Two things @thatrabidhobo, one is it is a double bevel gear with no cross axle hole, but a smooth hole letting it turn independently on an axle. And second it has a driving clutch ring interface on at lease one side allowing it to be used in gearboxes without having to use a red 16z toothed gear first. Hope this helps. -

@aminnich, diligence and speed are the key to Craigslist, sort of like what ebay used to be. Check daily and check often, act as soon as you see the posting, and ask them to take down the post because you definitely want the set or sets. That prevents others from seeing it and offering more for it. The “unenlightened” usually haven’t checked BL or BO or BS for current prices and usually look to get at most what they paid for it if it is misb, or less if it is used. What is the Latin for “seller beware”? And of course true Lego enthusiasts will sell to fellow enthusiasts at cost or at retail, especially if they know you are not a Lego Speculator/investor and want the set to actually open the box and build it. -

Has anyone given any though that the driving rings might act in pairs? That is, two rings engaged at the same time make one gear ratio? Just wondering aloud here... -

Non-Lego stores selling before reveal date has happened in the past and nothing comes of it. TLG ships to these store to ensure it is on the shelf the day of the reveal, and they have “loose” agreements not to sell before a certain date, but one forgives their distribution partners for these kinds of mistakes due to how hard it is to establish them. Believe it or not, getting a store to carry a Toy whose markup is significantly lower than other toy brands can be difficult. Here in the states the markup for Lego is no higher than 40% usually, with most Toy manufacturers hitting the 100% markup price point. This means if TLG sells a set for $100 msrp, they sell it to the store for $60, the store marks it up to $100. That makes Lego one of the most expensive toys to keep on the shelf, and why TLG handles their distribution partners with kid gloves. As a store owner, if you have a customer standing in your store, wanting the merchandise on your shelf, and they are willing to pay full price, you are not going to turn them away. This is life, and TLG knows it. They can be mad, but they are NOT going to sue anybody in their distribution chain. -
If it is flexing and you don’t like it, don’t pass on buying it, buy it and make it better. Modding original sets to your tastes is part of the fun. If you pass, you miss the opportunity of building an unknown model, maybe learn something new, or get new inspiration. And if you pass, Lego makes no money, goes out of business, and you are left digging through garage sales, yard sales, flea markets and estate sales/auctions looking for your next set. So crack that wallet, buy it and stop complaining unless you like the smell of other peoples moth eaten clothes and 10 year old furniture. Me? I’ll take two copies to go, please.

Digital or real, still a lot of work. Not everyone can afford the bricks to make their MOCs real. I give a lot of credit for design, not brick ownership That being said, let me say good work, and I hope you build it someday. I am a sucker for Red and Black right now, so my vote is BOSS.

I think we are still in a "learning curve" situation with TLG and their Technicolor kerfluffle. The biggest problem is the sharing of common parts in small beginner sets with larger complex ones. They need the Technicolor for the smaller sets and the entry-level sets for the children, but the larger sets share the same small components and TLG is not about to mold in two separate colors in two separate runs to fill their warehouse for a single common part, basically doubling the manufacturing overhead and storage requirements. That is not cost effective. People need to accept the fact that they are a company out to make money and everything they are doing has that goal in mind. They spend millions of dollars to figure these things out and pay a lot of people a lot of money and yes even after that they still may be making a mistake in the long run. They have teams of child psychologists and experts in the field trying to figure out what makes playing with Lego fun and enjoyable to the broadest market. For now we are stuck with the Technicolor and if it improves sales of Lego I'm all for it because without Lego my drug of choice goes away. -
