  1. Oh my goodness... From lights on to lights off the detail is amazing. WOW!
  2. I have had this happen with Amazon products in the past. I do a lot of ordering through them and have come to expect it to some degree. I have learned the following: Their packaging could be better suited to protect what's inside rather than just a box wrapped around a box. Lego ships with space on the inside with some sort of impact protection. I also think Amazon could put a bit more pressure on the shippers that they use. They have the power, they should use it. Bottom line though, if we don't complain there is no problem.
  3. I'd say the cheapest and safest option right now is to build it yourself. It was a fun process getting all the parts.
  4. Wow was that ever fun hovering around that city. Very well done Alienwar! Was nice to test my PC as well, the whole file loaded in about 50 seconds and panning and zooming was no issue.
  5. Well done! If this can be done now I'm guessing TLG has been playing around with the idea... Here's hoping to see it more polished in LDD 5
  6. Anyone else notice that the site is down? Hopefully it's temporary... http://www.hispabrickmagazine.com/ EDIT: It's back with a new face.
  7. Just picked mine up today, was watching Lego build it at BrickCon. It's a fantastic model.
  8. Please people, don't pay any ridiculous prices on BL. Lego stock goes in and out, it's worth to check back later. Especially for the dish which is outside and can be added at the end.
  9. I am quite new to LDD and experienced with MLCad. So far I am liking LDD quite a bit. It's simplicity by far is it's best attribute, the fact that it's actively being developed is another huge plus. One can only hope that TLG is going to make it more advanced for us power users while keeping it simple for the youngsters. I'm trying to use LDD as much as possible and only going to MLCad for serious mods.
  10. What does this program do when it can't find a parts file when opening a model. In MLCad you get a pop up stating it can't find the part, do you want to load anyway. I think this may be the reason why some of my models are hanging on load.
  11. The one with the slot is the one you want. The other is no longer being produced. I think I asked the question somewhere in this thread a while ago but it seems as though most peoples sets came with the slotted ones. You can order parts up to the quantities that are in the set. So 60 levers, 41 connectors etc. Some of the customer service people will allow you to get a lot more, some will allow you to get just a few more to be safe. They only seem to care about the minifigs, they have advised me on many occasions for different sets that they are keeping track and will only allow them to be purchased once, which is fair IMO. Others experiences may differ, try and see what happens.
  12. Classy with Style, well done Doc.
  13. I can't help but think how many I could build for those prices.
  14. There are a few factors, but somewhere from $500-700 USD would be my guess. There are some tips in the previous posts to help you along.
  15. Strand I get that this (EB, Lego etc) plays a large roll in your life, I can feel your passion within your post. I apologize for all out disagreeing with you as I feared it may evoke a response like above, I should have stated "in my opinion". It is not my intention in the least to try and convince you of my beliefs on the subject, not that I could considering what you think of me... What's the point in playing after that card has been put down. You don't know me, you don't know what I do, and you don't know what I know but it seems as though you are trying to put me in my place because I disagreed with you. I concede, in efforts of keeping my sanity and spare time. I am however trying to find my overpriced question that you responded to... It's worthwhile to check with Lego while on the phone for the parts you don't see in the replacement parts section. Just have the Lego part numbers from the back of the instruction book ready to give them.
  16. I'm sorry but it is about money and that is why TLG is not going to re-issue it... yet. The frenzy cause by this and the "investors" who have jumped onto the Lego bandwagon are worth far more than the amount they would take in by a re-issue. If anyone thinks blindly that TLG is willing to NOT make money because of a relationship they need a reality check, businesses do not stay afloat that way. There is no doubt that Lego has been awakened to the AFOL market, but that must not be confused with them having a relationship with the AFOL.
  17. Glad to be of help. Yes, I looked at the manual quite a bit just to see where everything went and how it fit. There is so much that can't be seen and if you want to use off colors and used parts there's plenty of opportunity to save some money and still make it look good. If you plan on modifying the inside to show some interior I would definitely do it that way.
  18. I use Brickstore, its a lot easier to change all the colors. From there you can import the set into BrickLink.
  19. hehehe I saw that, like yours too.
  20. Hello Here is what I did, I know some others did it differently... 1. Go to Bricklink and click on the "Wanted" tab. 2. Then click on the "Part Set" tab that opens below the upper tabs. 3. Put in the set number, in this case 10179 obviously. 4. Type in the new wanted list name if you wish. 5. Select the condition that you want your parts, New or Used in the box next to "Wanted In:" 6. Decide if you want to be notifed. It drove me crazy so I unchecked it. 7. Check the set min desired qty box. This will set the quantity of each piece req in your list. 8. Submit It will go to a screen where it shows you all the parts. This is where you can change things but you can always do it later as well. At the very bottom of that screen you will see two different pin connectors. One will be checked, un-check it and check the other one. You want the connector with the slots because the other one is impossible to find. The one with slots was included in the official set from Lego so it's not a big deal. What ever is checked will be deleted. Hit "Verify Items" at the bottom once you have picked your connector. Then at the bottom of the next screen hit "Upload Items". You will have a new wanted list called whatever you called it with all the Falcon parts needed. Do not spend a lot of money on 1 single type of part without checking with Lego. Using Lego as a parts supplier is a MUST when building this set. They have all the very hard to find items that cost too much money on BL.
  21. The extra dollars I spent building the set from parts vs buying it at the once retail price was justified to me because it was a lot of fun. Great post BTW.
  22. One could say were going off topic but as the OP I say were not. We are actually discovering some things that are quite interesting IMO. As long as we can all do it civilly and understand that some people have different points of view and we don't need to change each other, this will be a good read. I hear what your saying, it seems as though your focus is on the value. That may be because you spent a lot money on this or other sets or maybe you have a few stashed away ready to sell and make a whole pile of cash. I appreciate where your coming from but I think many of us are thinking about this just as Lego, a toy. The line will not cheapen beyond what it is actually worth, that is the beauty of Lego. It will always be worth what it is worth. Lego will always be worth x cents per piece. It doesn't need to be worth an inflated value to be good. If a person has "invested" in a product then they MUST assume the risk of such an investment. It's not fair nor is right to change a company structure at the expense of those who are in it for the fun and enjoyment. I agree. I'm sure when Lego created the UCS (Collectors) series they did NOT have investors in mind. They were probably thinking, "lets make a huge set. It will be expensive but those who are really into the product will buy it, lets call it a collectors set."
  23. SOLUTION My Win7 user name had a symbol in it (&) which LSynth did not like, or maybe MLCAD didn't like it...idunno, something didn't like it. I Installed everything on a different account without a symbol in the name and it worked perfectly. Found a guide on how to change a Windows 7 account user folder name, the name is easy but it won't change the actual user folder name without a registry edit.
  24. Yep, using 3.1 Funny thing, shouldn't there be a LSynth.exe file in the LSynth folder?? I can't find it and in actual fact have never seen it since the old 2.0 version. The 3.1 installer is not installing it I think... ps. If you have the old version or a link to it that would be awesome.
  25. Thank you, appreciate the concern. I just hope it's something silly that I am doing. 2+2 should = 4, but in this case it's = 3
