  1. I know what you mean, I've only collected this series, but have decided to pass the time before series six by buying a Lego minifigure box and filling it with my random favourites from other series via ebay, got the tennis player, sailor and artist for £3, not too shabby.
  2. Very nice, I particularly like the managers in the corners, I wouldn't like to get on the wrong side of that one will the gold tooth though..
  3. A hearty hello there and welcome to the forum!!
  4. I sent Lego an email which I said I'd hope they'd pass on to him, as I have no idea how to actually contact him.
  5. So that's where I was going wrong. Thank you so much for pointing like that out!1 I feel like such a fool, but at least I finally know what I'm going now.
  6. 7606: Creator Frog Hi all. So here it is, my first review. I was trawling through some reviews earlier and noticed that this set I picked up a while ago had not been reviewed, so decided to make myself useful and do one myself. As it's my first review, things may be a little shabby in places, and if they are, please do tell me so I can do some editing and know what to do next time, many thanks. So here goes, enjoy!! Name: 7606 Frog Theme: Creator Year: 2006 Pieces: 33 Price: £1 Helpful links: Bricklink, Brickset Just a little more information on the price, I picked this up at the Lego Store in Milton Keynes a month or two ago. Didn't see it in the Westfield branch last week. It was one of those impulse buys at the counter. Best thing was the £1 went to the National Autistic Society, a very worthy cause, meaning the set was reasonably priced and helped out a charity, a win-win in my book. Packaging - Front view Presented in a small polybag, pretty standard packaging as far as these little creator sets go. Packaging - Rear view The rear of the packet features mainly legal jargon, as well a photo of an alternative build (more on that later) and the actual size photograph, which seems pointless on this type of set as you can clearly see what is inside the bag anyway... Instructions Small instructions for a small set, only eleven steps. As you can just about see from the photographs they are folded down to a minuscule size, which I quite liked. That's the good thing about the polybag, we get some classic instructions, whereas a small boxed set would come with a booklet that contained page after page of adverts. These instructions feature only a snippet of advertising as well as a photo of something else you can do with the pieces, but you have to work out yourself... Parts 33 pieces for only £1, a bargain in my books. The parts list is pretty unremarkable, but if you like the colour green, this is your set!! The personal highlight for me parts-wise is undoubtedly the dark green slopes, although slopes in any colour are a plus in my book. The Completed Model Here is the finished model, who I've christened Kermit (what else could you name a frog??). I think he's quite a cute little model. Build was very quick, but that's to be expected with the number of parts. This is Kermit's best angle, which is proved by the following photos: Am I the only one who finds him to look a little menacing from the front...?? Side view, sorry this picture's a little blurry. Like most of us, this frog is clearly not supposed to be photographed from behind... Spare parts I found the spare parts allocation to be quite generous for such a small set. I can't seem to remember the last time I got a set that didn't provide me with a spare 1x1 black round plate, but I'm not complaining. Conclusion Design: 8/10 - Very good design for such a small set. Build: 7/10 - Not at all challenging, but great for young children, which ups the score slightly. Playability: 6/10 - I don't suppose there's much you can actually do with the frog, unless you have other similarly sized animals, and he's a bit too big to re-enact the Frog Prince with a minifigure. Price: 10/10 - Very reasonable, and the money goes to a good cause, like I said earlier, a win-win. However, I feel that was probably only at that particular store. Brickset reviews say they got the set for free, which is even better value for money. Overall that comes to a very respectable average score of 7.75/10 Oh, and another thing... Alternative build Here's my attempt (attempt being the optimum word) at building the snake pictured on the the instructions and the back of the packet: He's a bit of a funny looking fella, isn't he? I prefer the frog, but that may have something to do with me not liking snakes in the first place. So there you have it, my first review. I hoped you enjoyed it and thanks for reading.
  7. Thanks for your help you guys, you're so helpful and quick to reply!! Downside is, whenever I link the picture from my flickr account, I get this message: You are not allowed to use that image extension on this board. And I've no clue what to do.. Sorry for being annoying, it's just frustrating me a little..
  8. I'm having real trouble with photo uploads, I've taken about a dozen photos for a quick review, each on about 350 x 350, only to find I can only upload 100k of pictures, and as one picture is over 50K, I cannot make the review at all, any help out there??
  9. Very nice, I love how busy and crowded your street is, reminds me of trying to wade through the crowds at Oxford Street, which are always coming towards me!! And I love the little details, especially the mother and her pram!!
  10. That's really bad, and instructions for both have actually been sold as well!!
  11. I can't believe someone would do that, it's appalling. EDIT: And the seller's feedback shows that people have actually purchased the instructions. I think the message is clear, DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SELLER. Also, your model is spectacular. Words cannot describe how good it is, you should be immensely proud. The best way of displaying minifigures, ever.
  12. They have great customer service. Although I've only dealt with them online, I cannot fault them. I recently got back into Lego and got myself the Fire Brigade, only to find a small window was missing. I filled out the form online and it was with me within ten days. About a month later I stood up and what fell out of my dressing gown (which I'd worn everyday since), only the missing window.. I felt so bad. Interestingly, I found that the very same window was missing from my Grand Emporium, so I used the replacement then, and now longer felt like I decieved them. Even when filling out surveys, they are brilliant. I filled out a survey which voiced my minor disappointments with the police motorcycle set (which wasn't a big deal, it was free anyway) and within four hours they sent a reply saying how sorry they were. Now that's good service.
  13. I know the feeling, I only own two modulars (finally got a GE on a trip to Westfield today, interesting to note that they didn't have an Fire Brigades on display, it seems the end is nigh for that set) and can't wait to get the Pet Shop and many more, especially if it's a town hall.
  14. My mistake. Fixed.
  15. It seems Lego requested the information be removed, that's interesting.. this seems even more probable now, I'm already getting excited, despite owning only one modular at the moment.. may be getting the GE this weekend though!!
  16. The Space Needle is tiny when compared to most "megastructures". This from Wikipedia shows how small the Space Needle is when compared to the Sears (Willis) Tower. To the left of the Sears Tower is the CN Tower in Toronto (a future architecture set perhaps) and the Stratosphere in Las Vegas (very similar to the Seattle Space Needle) is to the left of the Needle.
  17. That was my first thought, I assumed it was the DUPLO equivalent of 9348:
  18. I want it. I want it now.
  19. Where'd you hear this?? Personally, I would love a town hall.
  20. And someone waving their hands in front of the guard's faces and generally getting in the way, I always feel so sorry for them having to put up with them. If I were a guard in that position, I would probably use my gun for its optimum use.
  21. Aha - good point. It's really great though, I was considering designing myself one of these, despite my lack of MOC imagination, but you got there first.
  22. Got my clown (thank you man at Argos), and my set is complete. It's a really great set (far better than what I've seen of series 6.. but that's a matter for another thread).
  23. You did the LoveFilm free trial, didn't you?? If I were you, I'd spend it now, there's always the risk that you'll dislike next year's sets.. however, if the voucher is valid for some time, you can just wait until something that catches your fancy comes along.
  24. I've only got the White House, but it's brilliant. I do agree that the prices are a little steep, but the White House is pretty decent, I don't like to go over 10p/piece, and it was £40 for 500+ pieces and it looks really great. All in all, it's a set I admire, although I find the landmark sets to be quite disappointing. I think Fansworth House will probably be the next one I buy.
  25. This is inspired, what a great 'half' street as it were. Personal highlights for me are the pool table and the clothes rack. Well done mate.
