Paulbricks

The plastic of the original LEGO brick were heavier in the early days and toxic! Well that was from a report that early lego bricks before a certain date contained lead, Cadmium and other toxins! The plastic was changed and I noticed now it is "different" and feels lighter. Might weigh the same bricks, early and later versions and see what the difference is... toxic toys

I suppose if you were to use a "reversed" motor normally, that won't be a problem, as you can reverse a single motor either on the battery box or controller, so it can stay reversed to use use where you like, but mark is as discussed so you know which is a "special".

I had the same dilemma last week, wanted to put two motors in the 60052 fright engine, but one is always in reverse. Not got around to reversing one, and thought about breaking into the motor and reversing the polarity. I'm quite good with soldering iron, anyway, and might do it. Just now I might just. As for the reversing switch, they are hard to obtain, especially here in the UK, and never seen one for sale on ebay or whatever, so far...so soldering is the way to go.

I did like the ICE Train, ultra modern and although the new version is good, the previous version was more realistic. I know the real one came off the tracks at Eschede, killing over a 100 people, due to faulty/worn "tyre".

What about the Tornado. In the UK, this has been built recently and is in service now, offering a timetabled service for fare-paying passengers.

It happens both on Lego and full-size trains. Many lives have been lost by trains going too fast round a corner. In reality all trains will fly off the tracks if going too fast. Usually the track buckles before the excessive speed derails it. Recently, in the UK, a tram left the track, killing people. it was doing 45 mph, where the bend should've been 12 mph.

Although the Lego factory is only a few hundred miles away from the UK, why is it so hard to buy some kits or spares. All the older type toy shops have gone, there is Toys 'r 'rus, which has a good selection of models and Argos. There are Lego shops nearby in Manchester, I only collect Trains, bought loads in the 80's when younger, as well as Technics. Not interested in Technics now, as, 1. I'm older and the new sets are not as complex as the Car chassis (8088) was and I do RC model aircraft as my summer/outside hobby. Have loads of 70's 80's 90s's and even bought 2 sets recently of the 60051 and the cargo 60052, plus found a couple of extra track sections on ebay. But, Lego don't sell the extra cars, no Li-Po battery boxes now, if you can find one on ebay, they are going for silly prices and even track I can't get. How on earth do some have so much track. for 2 years, all the shops have had no track, and the only track I bought is with the kits - and I hate the flexi track - sold that straightaway.. In the 80's, the toy shop, Dean's used to have separate track packages, points, straight, curve, lights, etc. Carriages, even spares for the train, bushes, motors and the like. Also, then, Lego was based In Wrexham, 30 miles away, and literally back then you had no trouble getting things. I was usually posted the next day if you needed something. It's a shame, really. For example, getting tracks is impossible, and started to 3D print my own. The seller on ebay who makes the compatible tracks doesn't ship to UK. I miss the old days...

I still have all my 12v stuff and 9v. One thing for sure is that their value increases with age, but wouldn't sell them, as they were part of my childhood and still use them from time-to time. The original motor on my 7725 was worn, but bought an ebay one now it works once more... I don't think the cones needed the technic axle. I live in UK, so they were bought here, from Woolworths I remember and Dean's Toy shop.I was best friends with their son Mark, whos dad owned the toy shop - advantage - Mark or his dad, Normal usually gave me a train set or loads of tracks from the shop, hence why I have so much. Strange, the Lego thing never goes, I work at JCB, bulding diggers and earthmovers and like dabbling in lego - in fact following instructions are a bonus, as you can't afford to mess up at work, when the machine costs £130,000!

Agreed with using heat sink compound, although if the FET burns out, they are an easy fix, if you are handy with a soldering iron and access to RS Components or Maplin
