This is hilarious. I just finished a moc and did this thing I sometimes do of running a reverse image search to see if it returns the real life car. Well, it didn't do that, but it did return your moc, and I'm guessing we both used the exact same car as inspiration (that color combo is a custom job, and with that trim in that year, I'm guessing it's a 1 of 1). It's too bad I didn't find your moc BEFORE I started building, because I would totally have saved myself a ton of effort and just built yours instead. (in short: great work, beautiful rendering, and you have excellent taste in Mustangs ?)

New LEGO Speed Champions 2021 Rumors, Speculation
OpenBagTwo replied to Bartlomiej's topic in LEGO Town
I mean, yes, that's the implication as I read it. I'm not aware of a poly like this ever not corresponding to a real set, and if the Elva were going to be part of, say, the Creator Expert line instead, it would have been branded as such. Speaking of Creator: intrigued by the red and black muscle car.- 755 replies

New LEGO Speed Champions 2021 Rumors, Speculation
OpenBagTwo replied to Bartlomiej's topic in LEGO Town
That's what brickfanatics are reporting today. Honestly, I feel a lot better just knowing Architecture hasn't been included in the 2021H1 catalogs--seems really unlikely they'd kill that line.- 755 replies

New LEGO Speed Champions 2021 Rumors, Speculation
OpenBagTwo replied to Bartlomiej's topic in LEGO Town
Spy Racers is another possibility if they go down the F&F set route, as that show is targeted at kids, and all the cars are all generic, so they don't have to worry about securing rights from the real car companies.- 755 replies

New LEGO Speed Champions 2021 Rumors, Speculation

? Rationally I know that the person monitoring Lego's social media accounts probably doesn't have insider knowledge as to what sets are upcoming or which themes have been cancelled, but an AFOL can hope...- 755 replies

New LEGO Speed Champions 2021 Rumors, Speculation
OpenBagTwo replied to Bartlomiej's topic in LEGO Town
O/T but Technic is getting a $50 (US) Senna GTR. Interesting that they chose the Senna over the Speedtail or Elva, but I guess that's par for the course for Lego considering the Chiron got an SC two years before the Technic.- 755 replies

LEGO Speed Champions 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
OpenBagTwo replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
@AlexSanders wow, those look super clean! Totally natural. I love that you did it without the 2020 chassis or axle holders. Going to have to try this. -

Pictures please. I would love to turn my Senna to 8-wide. -

I'm eager to see the first wave of mocs built at this scale and using the new chassis, windscreens, etc. Personally I'm finding it completely overwhelming, and I wouldn't know where to begin trying to reproduce a car in this style (seems like the F8 should be a good starting point to mod into a McLaren or C8 Corvette, but I can't even visualize in my head yet how they should look). Gonna be an adjustment, and I hope to learn from others' examples. -

Built the GT-R last night and was really overwhelmed by the size and scale. With the F8, it just seems like a wide-bodied supercar, and that feels authentic. With the Jaguar I-PACE, I mean, that's an SUV. But the GT-R is pretty much the exact same dimensions as the I-PACE which is totally ridiculous... It's also completely true to life: - 2019 Jaguar I-PACE dimensions: 184.3" x 74.6" x 61.3" - 2020 Nissan GT-R dimensions: 185.4" x 74.6" x 53.9" So yeah, the GT-R could stand to be a plate or two lower, but in terms of footprint, the relative sizing is absolutely accurate. -

Personal take: it's not actually that bad. SC cars are already a bit inconsistent in relative scale (why is the Chiron so much smaller than the other super/hypercars? why are the tiny LMPs the same size--if not larger--than mammoth muscle cars like the Dodge Challenger?). Putting the F8 next to some of the 6-wides I had lying around looked... fine. I'd imagine that when I put the F8 next to the 458/488, that will be more jarring, and when I get around to the urq, I'm sure I'll have feelings about how it mixes in with my two S1 SECS, but I don't think it's going to be anything some careful angle choices can't cancel out when taking photographs. Edit: here's what I mean (and sorry for the cruddy lighting): Yes, if I were to put them, say, head-to-head, the difference in size (but more noticeably, detail) would be a bit jarring, especially since the 488 and F8 are almost identical cars in real life, but there are plenty of angles you can shoot from where they look fine side by side, or, at least, as coherent as any two 6-wide cars from, say, different MOC designers. -

Oof. Fair--honestly, I totally forgot about the recolors. PSA--Lego brand stores are selling the Speed Champions (and indeed most of the Winter 2020 catalog) early. Apparently they've been on the shelves since yesterday. Also, if the Tributo is a representative example, the models look WAAY better in person than they do in the box art. -

Hope I'm not breaking any rules here. This is the link to the most official page I've been able to find for the brand: https://www.facebook.com/pg/SemboBlocks/posts/, and here's where they announced the wave with the 22B STI (alongside an ur-Quattro, Exige R-GT and E30 M3). You can find them all over Ali Express (though keyword search is not going to be your friend), and here's an example listing. I must have a dozen models from this brand by now--extremely high quality with excellent building techniques on par with official Lego sets. Plus, as far as I can tell, they're not stealing their designs from the community, which is always a plus. My favorite so far have to be the Renault 5 Turbo and MG Metro 6R4, both of which are available through this listing: As you can see, they're trying to avoid copyright infringement in lazy but hilarious ways, but the models are pretty nice looking, and they're definitely sturdy builds. -

For those looking for to build a Subie, hachiroku24 has a great 22B on his channel. There is also a clone brand that's been putting out some absolutely amazing SC (6-wide) scale models, Colin McRae's 555 Impreza among them. -

Had a shower thought. Light blue wheel arches from the I-Pace mean that we'll be able to start building Speed Champions scale cars with Gulf livery.
