Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
fastlindyrick replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
I'm not sure what's going on but today B&P is the buggiest I've ever seen it. When I try to add certain parts I get "an unexpected error occurred! Try again later." Then the icons on p.2 didn't load so I refreshed the page and got a blank screen with an error message saying I didn't have permission to view the page on that server. I tried just going back to lego.com and got that same error. After trying on a different browser, it started ok but eventually the same thing happened. Ultimately I got the same error using 3 browsers on 3 different computers. The issue persists even when clearing cache and logging out and back in to my lego account. Good job lego. Edit: and now I can access my parts bag again, but all the parts from today are there along with all the parts from the last order I placed. When I try to remove the old parts, it goes back to the "unexpected error" lockout. -
DDF Poco-class starfighter, from Brandon Sanderson's Skyward! My design is based on the official artwork by Ben McSweeney, which in turn was based on the DDF pin designed by Isaac Stewart. Above: Jorgen piloting; plus Spensa, four Taynix slugs, and the cleaning droid from Cytonic. Above: Poco in landing position, with open canopy. Above: the underside of the Poco, showing the acclivity ring. Above: top view of the Poco. Above: alternate pose of the cleaning droid. I did submit this to Ideas, but I don't want to be spammy so I'll skip the URL. It's pretty easy to find by searching the Ideas site, though.

The Batman accessories pack (design 50018) is available in the US in Grey Titan Metal (though still not in the original Silver Metallic). The new color isn't even shown on Bricklink so I don't know what set it is from. Cost is $1.90 USD. -

If you have one copy of a part, the design number will be printed on it somewhere in tiny print. Then if it is on B&P you can find the element ID by searching the design number. For example the centaur body is 67638 and is listed, but with a price of 0.00 USD. -

I don't know if they can do that exactly, but if you place an online order and then immediately call in then they can add to the online order. They can only add a small number of items on the phone (not sure exactly, but about 10-20 different part numbers). They will need your order number plus the long part number for each item you want to add, and you will probably also need your VIP number if you have one. -
film-free waterslide decals?
fastlindyrick replied to anothergol's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
I can verify all that Edd (Bricksanity) says here. I've had the same parts printed by MinifigFX, Minifigs.me, and Bricksanity, and the fine detail comes across best with Bricksanity. To be fair, though, I haven't ordered from the other two in maybe two years so it is possible that they have upgraded since then. Also, all three have that grain that makes photos "speckled" with white for some reason. I think that the slightly irregular surface produced by any UV printing causes specular reflections which show up on camera, though they look great to the eye. Regarding curved parts, UV printers spray the ink on, so wrap-around prints on curved parts can only wrap as far as you can see from one look angle, as opposed to pad printing which can wrap a bit further since the ink pad squishes around the part as it applies the ink. That means that UV prints onto heads sometimes have trouble with sideburns and such. Also, I've recently seen posts by Minifig Madness Customs indicating that they also do small-batch UV prints now, though I haven't tried them yet. -
LPub3D 2.3.6 keeps crashing on me whenever I do something as simple as changing the font size in the assembly setup. About 80% of the time when I change any of the settings, LPub crashes and closes with no error message. I recently installed it on a new laptop via the LDraw all-in-one installer. I have the parts libraries installed, I can do the usual operations of adding steps to a page, making callouts, etc., so the program seems to be working, I just can't change the settings. My OS is Windows 10 Home, 64 bit. Does anyone know what might be happening or where else I could try asking for help? Thanks! EDIT: I registered an account on the ldraw forum, but the "new thread" button doesn't show up for me, so I can't seem to post there. :/

Anyone know if B&P orders count towards promos, e.g. the Marvel Bricktober one currently live in the US? If so, today is a good day to order... -

Those are great! Would you mind sharing what printer and sticker material you use? Does the printer print white ink, or is the sticker on a white base? Also, did you feed the cloth through the printer too?- 2 replies

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces

B&P is becoming useless to me. Last week I ordered 12 plain brown torsos, but then a few days later they were canceled from the order because they are considered licensed. Apparently they have been used in one of the Chewie minfigs. I called to complain, and they agreed that it was a little silly and they reinstated that part of the order. Next day they got re-cancelled. New parts and recolors still take forever to show up online (if they ever do), and when they do show they are crazy expensive. For example the 1x1 double half-arch piece from the microscale Hogwarts was briefly available, but was $0.70 USD! -

Gold flame from Statue of Liberty (same mold as Capt Salazar's hair): 6234261, $1.50 USD. Torso, dark red, doorman print, from Capital City 60200: 6228868, $0.81 USD. Also, a while back a few of us were told by phone that the new animal parts, e.g. the eagle, would be available on the website on 6 July. That still hasn't happened; availability is still as sparse and mysterious as ever. -

It may be different in Norway, but in the US the mammoth bag only contains the head and body. You still need the two pairs of tusk pieces, the trunk, and the black technic pin. Source: I received an order with two of the mammoth bags last week. -

I’m confused about the mammoth. Elsewhere the head and body are listed separately (6227893 and 6224747) and I even ordered two heads by phone a few weeks ago. It seems odd that they would be available individually as well as in a set with the body. Also the part numbers I have for some of these don’t match up (e.g. eagle: 6232185, which is def correct as my order has shipped). I’m not questioning your accuracy, just noting that TLG is making this more painful than it needs to be. -

Here’s the status of the new animal molds (may be different outside the US): Mammoth head (6227893): out of stock on website, will be available on 6 July, not addable by phone due to no price Mammoth body (6224747): out of stock on website, no info by phone, I’d guess available on 6 July like the others Mammoth trunk (6224750): not listed on website, addable by phone for $1.68 Common mammoth parts: tusks are 6110023 and 6146951 (need two of each); technic pin is 4121715 Mastodon/cat (6225509): not listed on site, addable by phone for $6.70 each, will ship on 6 July Polar bear (6225509): available on site for $4.97 Rat/rodent from arctic sets (6226594): available on site for $1.33 Bald eagle (6232185): out of stock on website, will be available on 6 July, not addable by phone due to no price Bonus: power blast set of parts (35032): blue and green sets available on site for $1.75, red listed but out of stock and not addable by phone The ones that don’t have a price listed probably will have prices within a few days, and should be easily addable by phone at that point. -
UV printers from Aliexpress??
fastlindyrick replied to RickWJ324's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Those Roland machines are crazy expensive. Do you two have them? Just for lego? If so, do you take on custom print jobs? I’m always looking for more print shops to try for customs, as there are very few out there. -
I would also like such a discussion. Enlighten has great builds, printing, and unique molds, but I’ve found their part quality to be pretty bad. There are so many clone brands now that it is hard to tell which ones will be decent enough to be used in conjunction with lego. How is the quality of Gudi and Star Diamond? Where do you buy them, AliExpress?

He could use the 1x2x1 brick with 2 studs on the front, and turn it sideways so it becomes a 2-high version of the 1x1x1 brick you are referring to. That will probably be cheaper and more stable.

Hello DarthFargus! It’s always nice to see a new customizer. I’ve done a fair few customs myself, through waterslide decals, custom printed elements, custom fabric elements, and occasional part modification. What sort of customization are you planning? Are you planning to set up your own custom printer, or order your own designs from a print shop, or use paint/decals?

fastlindyrick replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
You can only add something like 15 part lots over the phone (I forget the exact number), so for a larger order it is best to place the order online and them immediately call them and ask if you can add to the order. I’ve occasionally been able to add parts not listed on B&P; for example, right after the bear came out it wasn’t listed but I was able to add it by phone. On the flip side, sometimes licensed parts are available online but they will absolutely refuse to add those by phone, so don’t get your hopes up regarding Ninjago parts. They are considered licensed. For example, I tried to add the pufferfish headgear by phone and they said no, Ninjago is licensed. It never hurts to ask though; once I added a few items and then the sales rep rejected about 5 requests for licensed parts in a row, but then offered to send the rest of the small order for free to ease the sting a bit. They do need the design numbers (the longer of the two numbers for a given part) rather than just a description, so have those handy, as well as your lego VIP number and the order number from the online order if you wish to add to that. -
Series 18 Collectible Minifigure MOCs

I just noticed that the unicorn’s horn is attached without the usual head armor piece. What is this sorcery? Is the unicorn another third party part? I’ve revisited this post about five times already since the part use is so interesting.- 7 replies

Imitating dust from running fast
fastlindyrick replied to Truckingyoda's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I’ve often seen 2x2 round plates (turned sideways) used for smoke. You’d have to use a SNOT brick to connect the first one to a foot, but then you could daisy chain several plates to create a dust cloud.
