Wizarding World 2022 - Rumors & Discussion
TheInvisibleMan replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
Im not saying it wasn’t, but I’d be interested to know how this is substantiated? (The last part of the sentence…) my money is on the D2C being a declination of the Hogwart Express (+location). But then again, I certainly didn’t see the ´moments’ one coming, so at this point it’s anyone’s guess! -

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think it would be a particularly exciting set and it’s not one I, for one, would like to see, but I don’t think we can really put anything past Lego… I mean, who of us imagined the Icons set?.. but unfortunately I don’t think screentime is necessarily a good gage. The thresals appear even less that the QWC and look at what’s coming. -

Unless of course the D2C is a Quidditch World-Cup stadium and setting. It’s quite a prominent setting and has plenty of scope for new characters… -

The only disappointment for me is that the hogwart expansions are for the latest iteration of the castle… but really happy about the ministry and shack sets and can’t wait to see what they actually look like. Those thresals in such a (comparatively) cheap set are also a great result. Now we just need to know what the missing and D2C sets are!! -

I reckon the boathouse is probably a good bet for a set in the near future. And as a bonus, it would probably fit in with the 2018-2020 hogwarts too! -

Well I guess we all have different preferences… Personally I’d rather have one-off buildings to complete DA than unappealing Hogwarts extensions or remakes of previous sets. But that’s just me. I certainly think there’s plenty to chose from. -

I’m still hoping they’ll break down the DA set into four individual sets at some point… (basically a reversal of their 3 in 1 type packs) then a stand alone Gringotts would also make sense! And you’d have hoped that if DA sold well (which I think it did) then Lego would be considering individual add-on sets (with one building at a time). That would certainly be a welcome concept I would have thought -

Could Grilauld Place not be a potential playset? -

I’ve never been a completist in terms of the theme as a whole, but I have all the 18-20 hogwarts sections, as building up the castle was always my main goal. So the switch in style was actually probably a blessing in disguise as my main issue was starting to be how to display an ever expanding build! Now I tend to mainly just buy the sets that I find interesting (such as Hogsmead) or where the figures are worth it and the price point is acceptable, considering I’m only after the figs, that I then display in frames. i still haven’t convinced myself to buy the Diagon Alley set though, although I’m sure I will at some stage. -

At the risk of being off topic, happy new year one and all! Looking forward to seeing what Lego had in store for us this year! -

That isn’t a bad shout. I could see that as a display piece. Maybe the tri-wizard cup? Either way, not really my cup of tea but I’m sure they’d find their audience. -

I’ll say it first… the €470 set will be another ´icons’ situation../ -

There is no way they would release another diagon alley so soon after the current version and when that one is still on the shelves, so I think it’s safe to say that’s not it. I also understand people’s enthusiasm for a massive gringots, but at €470 that’s more than unlikely. The only thing I could imagine along these lines would be a micro-scale « full » diagon alley, but I’m not sure there’s much appetite for that… for my money, this set will either be a hogwart express with Kings Cross or a ministry set, although we can’t rule out a massive quidditch set. -

I’d agree that the hospital wing definitely looks like it’s the top half of a tower and that a bottom part will likely follow for a different scene. I’m not a great fan of these new sets (mainly because I have all the previous iterations and I’m loathed to spend my money twice on the ‘same’ sets…) but I’ll begrudgingly accept that the concept is pretty good and that for kids it definitely has more playability. and for the rest of us, there’s always the new minifigures, and I’m always happy to see those! -

I’m not personally a fan of the Moments books, but they do allow people to pick up some figures for relatively cheap and they also provide some good pieces (and dare I say it, stickers) for those who want to add them to Mocs. The hospital wing in the ‘new’ format is a no brainer really. I think most of us have accepted that the 2018-2020 Hogwarts has come to an end (even if we can always hold out hope…). I don’t really care for this new style, as it seems more geared towards play than display, but will probably buy it for Pomfrey as I don’t have the minifigure from the old iterations of the HP line. the suitcase could actually turn out to be quite good. My kids are definitely keener on building small custom scenes, so this may be just up their alley. Plus if the parts are good then it could be a win-win for everyone. We just need to see what the content will actually be! -

Well, trying to stay objective, this set is obviously a pretty display set as of itself and actually seems to tie in well with the display sets we’ve seen for this theme over the last 18 months (although I don’t see the attraction here for anyone who already had the previous Hedwig set). This being said, it’s not for me. I don’t see much point in the golden figures and with no other exclusive figures in there, there’s no ‘hook’ to reel me in. I do however think that these display sets show that Lego are investing a good amount of time and effort into the theme, which bodes well for the future (in my opinion). But maybe they are also recognising that a large part of their customer base for HP are older and may not be so keen on just play sets (but at the same time have more money). So I’d expect any future wave to be split pretty much 50/50 between big display/expensive sets and small(ish) play sets. Which is fine, as long as they bother to actually include some new characters! -

So given we have nothing more to go on, what would you speculate to be the minifigs in the D2C? Do we think it’ll be based on years 1 and 2 or a broader spectrum of books? It may be time for an updated Lupin to make an appearance, or even maybe Voldi… -

So at that price point the Hermione polybag is pretty good value. I can’t make out the spell book but would be great if it’s a new one. And a cheap way to get some wizard cards if you’re missing some -

^^ this! absolutely loved the Hogsmead builds. I just hope they give us more in the future (a man can dream)! The bathroom was hugely underwhelming to me, although I only really bought it to get Crab and Goyle, so wasn’t expecting much anyway. But it was still somehow a letdown. Scored 5/6 on the chocolate frog cards, so very pleased there. Not sure what to do with them now though... -

Thanks for sharing. For me this just confirms my initial impressions... the sets may be good play sets (I guess that’s the point after all) but really don’t look good as a display piece. The outside just seems a little unfinished and lacks detail, while the inside is just too boxy. I realise others may well love it, but I’m glad I got the 2018-2020 castle and hope they revert back to it after this anniversary edition. -

Why would they bring out a 14+ Frozen castle? Surely the demographic for this is the younger children?.. -

I know what you mean, but with the exception of the bridge (which would obviously look weird as a flat structure), there isn’t actually even much in terms of verticality with that MOC. The whole castle is on one level I believe. For me, the real gripe with the 2018-2020 castle is that it looks, well... unfinished. If they completed it and it had a structure all the way round, then it would probably look much more like a castle than the current sprawling structure it is. -

Maybe the Icons set is designed to be scaled with those new Harry and Hermione giant figures...
