  1. i like the ship, think it looks good. I would be very keen to see a review of the alternate builds, especially the tavern. The alternates are what will sway me if I pick this set up or not.
  2. slight modification, and similar to an earlier post in this thread. I took apart the interior of the ship and used tiles from the island (and my own collection) to make a gun deck, just fairly basic, kept as much interior detail as possible. The ship looks better with the gun ports opened and some cannon poking out. Surprised that in the instruction there wasn't some steps in place if you wanted to add the cannon, although to be fair its a rather simple modification.
  3. Just built the set, took my time over the last 4 or 5 nights. it looks fantastic! it will look great on display, I'm sure my nephews will love it. Have some changes to make tonight, I wished at the time of building that I moved stuff internally to make way for the guns, so they can be positioned correctly. So I shall carefully take some of it apart tonight, move some of the internals around and get the guns set correctly in the ship.
  4. the ship looks fantastic, in particular the brick built sails. will go nicely alongside the Pirates of Barracuda bay, love both the Ship and Tavern builds which would be very tempting for me to purchase two of these sets. Thinking the Tavern might look well on the island you get with the Barracuda Bay set, with maybe some slight alterations. Perhaps if these sets are successful we will see more pirates theme sets in the next couple of years, it brings me right back to my childhood. Just hope they bring in some Imperial ships /sets, gotta have someone for the pirates to fight.
  5. Yeah I ordered the set and it still says back ordered but shipping on 7th May, not fussed really as I'm fairly patient and don't mind waiting for it to arrive eventually. My birthday is mid May so it would be great if it arrived by then, if not no big deal. P.s. I'm not that patient at all, and the sooner it arrives and I can start building the better ;)
  6. think this is a great set, and i have just ordered it (although its on backorder). very much an AFOL, but have mostly stayed to the Star Wars products, but as a kid I have many a fond memory of playing with Lego Castles and of course Lego Pirates. I shall greatly enjoy building this and displaying it. I plan on just building the ship, but at perhaps a later date build the island and add some shacks or buildings to it. I do like the look of the new creator pirate ship also, the tavern build might fit in nicely on the pirate island, but then again the ship looks great (might have to get two of those sets). but yes very excited to get this, certainly brings back a lot of great childhood memories
  7. hmmm didn't have high hopes for this, but from the exterior I think it looks very good. Captures the look of Vaders castle well, I like these types of scene based sets, very displayable and still has play ability, best of both worlds. Not a big fan of the price however, I will probably get this at some point, however I might wait for it to go on sale.
  8. meh not fussed, although to be fair play sets don't really appeal to me that much. I would much rather have had a fully enclosed display model, but then again that's just my opinion and Lego is after all a toy. The mini figures look great though, that is much more appealing to me.
  9. I have since removed the mechanism that closes the wings on landing. But end of the day it is a kids toy and the mechanism does add a lot of fun, and its function is very smooth. For me the look and feel of this x wing is to date the best representation of a system scale x wing Lego has done. Maybe like you said an improvement to hide that mechanism to open the s foils, but if they get that right then its hard to see where else they can improve on it for later releases. Your right though, having the droid pointing the correct way is a significant improvement.
  10. Got the new X Wing yesterday, had the previous version. If anyone is in any doubt if to get it or not, even if they had the previous, then don't. It is by far the best x-wing Lego has done, looks incredible, its hard to imagine how they could improve on this current design for future iterations.
  11. The LEGO website is awful, I hate having to use it.
  12. Well on the UK site says early release 16th May... But as of yet can't order it..
  13. I suspect there are a few possible track layouts that someone could come up with. Think the biggest challenge for a set like this, is its highly specialised and specific, was no doubt incredibly difficult for the LEGO designers to get that track layout to work perfectly, so if you wanted a different layout you will need to spend a lot of time adjusting all the supports. I would like to see LEGO release a track pack, similar to what they do with the trains. Which then comes with extra roller coaster track pieces, to allow people to customize their track. I wonder, and from looking at the speed of the train after the first drop, that it might be possible to do a loop, just need LEGO to produce a loop piece.
  14. I think for a set like this, you find a place to put it, and leave it there. Wouldn't be good to constantly move this beast around, I'm sure it is as stable as the Lego designers could make it, without impacting the look or functionality of it.
  15. Yes he has uploaded the time lapse, but I'm more interested in his review of the set, which usually he uploads a day or two after the time-lapse.
  16. Awesome! I look forward to watching Jangs review of this when he uploads it. For me this is a day one purchase, I know its pricey, but this set just looks so epic. I can understand the high price, a lot of new molded parts, high piece count, and since its a brand new set I suspect a lot more R&D went into it.
  17. looks fantastic, and at under 3k pieces should be somewhat affordable, what puts me off some of these larger MOCs is they are often over 5k in pieced. I think I shall be purchasing the instructions at some point and slowly building up the parts needed for this. Always wanted a Lego Venator Awesome work.
  18. Tie Bomber and AT-AT yes, I would be happy with either of those as a UCS set. I'm not against them remaking older sets, just been a good few in a row now and i'm excited to see something new.
  19. Venator Acclamator lucrehulk Trade federation MTT ARC 170 All could be good candidates to make a UCS set IMO.
  20. Y- Wing looks fantastic. However I want something new, the past few UCS sets have all been remakes, and all been original trilogy vehicles. I love OT vehicles, but I want something new, a UCS set that hasn't been made before.
  21. this project looks fantastic, I look forward on seeing this progress over the coming months.
  22. I wish you all the luck, sounds like a mammoth undertaking, hope you have a big room to display it as 47.5" x 47.5" is big. I like the idea of the floor lights, any plans to light it from the top also?
  23. picked up the FO Heavy Scout Walker... A set I have absolutely no interest in building, Tesco in the UK had it reduced to 25 pounds, half the price LEGO are trying to flog it for. Purely bought it for the mini-figures and will simply just separate and re-use the parts for futures MOCs.
  24. picked up a few sets over the last few days. Quad-jumper - wasn't sure about this one when it first came out, but Tesco had it for 33 pounds, so seemed like a great deal. I think it looks like a great build and a great display model. Ahch-To / FO specialist battle-pack / Tatooine battle-pack.. Spent my 10 pound Amazon thank-you offer on this (10 pounds off if you spend 50 pounds or more), already had a couple of the BPs but was more than happy to get another one each and very happy to pick up Ahch-to.
  25. picked up the Duel on Naboo for a slight discount, been wanting it for a while the build is alright, but the mini figures are fantastic.
