Let's watch that double posting Efullner - much appreciated.

Welcome Daedalus. The Emerald really is a beauty, isn't it? It will be interesting to read how others compare the Maersk to the Emerald once it's available. In any case, I hope you enjoy the forum.

Welcome to Train Tech Laka. It sounds like you have a very supportive wife which is always nice. I've been looking at the Public Transport set since its release and still haven't purchased with all the other fantastic sets that came out last year. My last "big set" was the Cargo Train which I still haven't opened. I'm looking forward to the Maersk though, and excited about its release. Hope you enjoy our LEGO Train community.

Really nice Tony. I like the colors and the roof design. This looks much like the real depot. I look forward to seeing the brick-built version.

Exclusive Train 10219 Maersk Train (Exclusive 2011)
WesternOutlaw replied to paul_delahaye's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Okay guys: this is not the place for this. If you want to make a statement, I suggest you either write to LEGO or don't buy the product. EB is not the LEGO Company. I can understand the frustration but in a free market, supply and demand determines price.- 379 replies

Quick query - Getting started with LEGO Trains
WesternOutlaw replied to Treadwah's topic in LEGO Train Tech
It's a basic book during the end of the 9V era with a retail/cover price of $19.99. My Own Train sets, the Super Chief, and sets available around this time are pictured. Some history of LEGO Trains is included and instructions to build a reefer, a diesel locomotive, and a container car. I'd pay around $20 for it but not much more. To me, it's more of a keepsake for train fans. I would love to see a newer version with PF and more pictures of older sets. -
Deejay: welcome to Eurobricks, but this is an English speaking forum. I'll go ahead and leave this topic open if you care to discuss in English.

Welcome MXLPT. While your NSB train is really nice, your layout is magnificent. I enjoyed watching it pass through your town and tunnel. The aqueduct/bridge is really nice as well. Love all the details and the music is fitting for a relaxing train viewing. Thanks for sharing here on Train Tech! I look forward to seeing more from you.

Yes - thanks. Appreciate that.

This is really impressive Frankie. Thank you for sharing. I do ask that you please resize your images though. Our site guidelines are images no larger than 800x600. Much appreciated.

Fantastic display. The brick trains are pretty intersting. I haven't seen that idea before. Thanks for sharing. -

Moc: Tropical forest
WesternOutlaw replied to Captain Flint's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Very nice diarama CF. You've combined some great components with the ancient temple, cliff, trail, and tree. Great details! I like seeing the gorilla lurking down on the adventurers. The use of lots of foliage gives the entire scene a dense jungle look. Nice job on the large custom palm near the adventurers. I've always been a huge fan of jungle adventurers, and overall, this is a fine scene. If I gave it a name, I'd call it Congo. Great job! -
Getting started in LEGO Trains - What to buy?
WesternOutlaw replied to MrTools's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Welcome to Train Tech Physalis. I find these types of topics always interesting because so many have had similar experiences after puchaing their first train set. Mine happened to be the My Own Train (MOT) collection, and at that time, LEGO Train availability was pretty limited (aside from the MOT sets). Personally, I always thought the MOT locomotive was nice, but probably far from one of LEGO's top rated train engines. The added color packages offered some customization though. At the same time, the green passenger wagon, log car, and caboose are still among my favorites for their colors, parts, and Western look. The passenger wagon and caboose didn't have removable roofs, but they were nice looking sets. You can see image reviews of all of these sets right here in Train Tech - check the Index. I would also suggest you read an article called "What to Do After That Starter Set" - in RailBricks 7. It might provide you with some additional ideas. Right now is a great time for LEGO Train fans with the "Fantastic Four" - Cargo Train that you have, the Passenger Train, Toy Story, and Harry Potter. Plus Maersk is just around the corner and will be the best. Even though, I'm still a huge fan of 9V - esp. the BNSF and SFSC. These I would recommend for any train fan, but you will need that 9V layout unless you plan to modify for Power Functions. Good luck with your train purchasing.- 191 replies

Review: 7779 The Batman Dragster: Catwoman Pursuit
WesternOutlaw replied to The Penguin's topic in LEGO Licensed
Penguin: I have not commented previously on your outstanding Batman reviews, but you've really shared/created some nice ones. I love your graphics, colors, and text boxes/call outs. This was my first Batman set, and while I think the set is really more of an introductory type, it offers one of the best LEGO minifigs (IMO), Catwoman. The set is probably an average one at a reasonable price, but for play and fun, I'm sure the kiddies loved it. I do like the purple cycle and the set offers a few nice Batman elements. I may have to break this one out of the box and revisit some of these nice Batman sets that you've taken time to review. Thanks for taking the time to provide a quality review. -
Looks like a MOC to me - and a clever one at that. I almost didn't notice which one doesn't belong. Very creative ISC.

Thanks WF. I've always been a fan of Batman, long before the LEGO theme. I loved the first wave of sets, but didn't buy a single set from the second collection. I tried building a Batcave way back when, but it was pretty basic (and probably bad). It did take a few rebuilds, esp. the front-end. It has a secret compartment in the back (for diving), but the tail has to be taken off to open it. Here's a revised picture with Divers background: I wasn't happy with the 1966 Retro Model Boxart
