  1. Very nice Coop. I like how you have the cut-away section to show off the PF system. Great train wheels! Are those from Big Ben's?
  2. There he goes again. Too good! - even when he's mad. Can't put my big finger on it (or a Johnson Rod for that matter), but I have a sneaky hunch that he has a collection of other peoples' train pins. Hmmm... Mmmm... Did he even show us HIS train pin? TRUST NO ONE!
  3. Yes, it is interesting that someone seems to have taken my pin. Perhaps you have an impostor aboard the train, one that has my train pin, and is simply "posing" as a train worker. (looks at Max with distrust)
  4. Maybe a murder mystery aboard the train - with a little intrigue and suspense.
  5. It's a great engine, but the cars are a little bit bland all in light grey.
  6. Grease, Max, Pete, and Charlie leave the bridge to get some planks at the mill. I'll tag along if you guys need an extra hand.
  7. I picked up the remote when originally available, but have not had any problems with it. I kept it, but am wondering if I should ask Lego to replace it. What do you guys think?
  8. Thanks for sharing, but I think this topic is better in the "Buys, Sells, and Finds" forum.
  9. Moved to Train Tech.
  10. Excuse me folks, but I have a construction background. I don't think it would be a really good idea to begin chopping down trees and placing them on the bridge. These trees are very old and heavy. Even if we are able to move one, I don't think this bridge would support the weight. Grease's idea to return to the mill for some "ready-cut" planks might be a better idea. I'd be happy to come along. Who is with us?
  11. This would be a Category 1 entry, as it it a complete train I don't seem to see the wheels? Does it have any? Also, a few members believe they've seen this on 1000steine.de. Is this a new creation for the contest or something that you've shared before? In regard to the creation though, it's very nice. I like the colors and overall design.
  12. Blooper Alert: Brakes was on the bridge standing at the area with the missing planks. He was not able to return to the front with Grease to go wood hunting. After all the bridge walkers attempted to return the way they came, they have come to another area with missing planks. This is the section of the bridge where Bulldog fell. They are now trapped between the two open sections.
  13. Through the loss of Bulldog, Greaseman becomes a bit delusional and skips off ALONE toward the mill. He soon realizes that his good friend Brakes is back at the bridge trapped between the two open sections. Sorry Grease, but I'm trapped on the bridge. I'll gather some wood as soon as I'm able to resolve this little situation. CLASSIC TOWN RULES! Want some wood? NOTE those trapped on the bridge: Arin, Jim Butcher, Brakes, Steve Thomas, Lorraine, George, and Jethro
  14. As a big fan of mysteries, I find this story a bit disturbing. EDIT: Christmas, Murder. How about something a little more up-beat?
  15. Arin, Jim Butcher, Brakes, Steve Thomas, Lorraine, George, and Jethro have reached a 5-6 foot open area on the bridge. In returning toward the front end of the bridge, they have come to the area where Bulldog fell into the ravine. The opening is about the same length. What to do??? You guys could try jumping across either direction. Just don't blame me if someone doesn't make it. Ring...Ring... Telephone call. It's for you precarious bridge walkers. It's Bulldog, he's asking for his safety net back. Okay, that was just bad. Sorry Bulldog. (looks down in ravine and does the sign of the cross) I want to watch this!
  16. It's been asked before, but the train does not need to be motorized.
  17. The sides toward the beginning of the bridge are definately too treacherous for climbing down.
  18. Well said Cusaeng, and welcome to both Train Tech and EB. Make sure you stop at the Train Tech Registry to share a little about your Lego Train interest.
  19. Bulldog continues to walk toward the others on the bridge, until he steps on the wrong plank . A loud creak is heard, then suddenly, a number of wooden planks come crashing down. Bulldog falls into the ravine with the wood from the bridge as his yelling becomes a faint whisper... HHHHHHHHEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLPPPPpp p p . . . Looks like ol' Bulldog's gonna meet Scruffy up there in Dawgie-ville. I think he's "bridge kill" now!
  20. Some nice designs. I like the red boxcar with the checkered patern. Here's a very nice reefer shared on Trains n Town. This one has some fantastic details. Description
  21. Looks like there's trouble on the bridge. They've all stopped. CRAP! Did you see that plank fall into the ravine? I'm going to cross. They may need an extra hand. Bulldog then begins walking across the bridge. Later, the others arrive at the gap in the bridge...
  22. Train fans have shared numerous boxcar designs over the years, and as I was thumbing through some of the more creative designs; it got me thinking, what are some good tips for boxcar builders. I recently picked up one tip after building a standard boxcar from 7898 Cargo Train Deluxe. Toying around with a similar design, I build this simple blue boxcar similar to the red one found in the Cargo Train set. 1) The boxcar uses a standard 6x16 plate as the base. 2) Adding two 1x6 plates to the base creates a 6x18 baseplate. 3) The longer baseplate allows the use of three 6x6 roof plates. 4) The rails for the doors are separated on the bottom by two studs. Those on top touch one another. 5) Within the 2-stud wide space, a 1x2 plate is uses with a grill piece on top. 6) The grill piece prevents the doors from sliding too far to the right or to the left, but also moves just slightly enough to close the doors. This is a great tip if you've tried building with these classic cargo train doors. From Lego's Instruction Book Notice the 2-stud wide gab between the door rails, as well as the use of a 2 stud grill plate between? There is no gap on the upper/top rails. This a simple yet very effective boxcar tip. So, what boxcar tips and tricks have you learned? Do you have a creative method for using classic train doors? How about a brick built door? Share your boxcar tips and tricks in this Train Tech topic, Thinking Outside the Boxcar.
  23. The precarious bridge walkers make it about one quarter of the way. The wind in the canyon is much stronger as the old wooden bridge almost seems to sway with each step. As they approach the middle section, it appears that the bridge seems to shift downward at a greater degree. More creaking can be heard from the weight on each plank of wood. Suddenly, Brakes stops abruptly! A single plank of wood gives way and falls into the canyon. No one hears it land as it falls far into the ravine. Noticing that more planks seem to be missing along the bridge, Arin and Jim have stopped at a large opening. There's about a five to six foot distance without planks. The train rails are also missing from the section of bridge, with nothing to provide secure footing. Arin and Jim consider jumping but aren't sure if they should, or go back?
  24. Jim Butcher is the first to step on the precarious bridge. He begins walking slowly across. Brakes hesitates for a few minutes, then presses down on the old bridge making sure that it can support his weight. It creaks a bit, but seems strong enough, so Brakes continues. Austin suggests that George be next, followed by perhaps Jethro. Both men are relunctant to get on. Steve Thomas gets on calling everyone else a "sissy", as he starts to tread along the bridge. Lorraine follows as Max unties Grill'n George. George and Jethro, untied, begin walking across very slowly. Unfortunately, the rope used to tie George is a bit too short to be of any real use, unless one might want to tie and retie it to the bridge every few feet. Seeing the other cross, Arin takes a mad dash to be ahead. Austin waits to see what happens. The order: Arin, Jim Butcher, Brakes, Steve Thomas, Lorraine, George, Jethro... CRRREEEAAAKKK!
