  1. Maybe, but I wasn't intending that this should be a review, just a comparison of the vehicles themselves - besides, the minifigs that came with the original (aside from the Clones) are somewhere in my collection but I can't place my hands on them right now. Dr. S.
  2. I am assuming that it is simply a different model of LAAT - we know the Republic constructed different types, such as the type that could deliver an AT-TE to the battlefield, so perhaps this is yet another variation in the design. Dr. S.
  3. Thanks. I mainly did it as I couldn't recall seeing a direct comparison anywhere else and that was annoying me. The new one is larger, but not as much of an increase as the reviews suggested - but it is MUCH heavier. The older one is lighter and slightly smaller, and more heavily armed - I can imagine the two going into battle in concert, one to land the troops whilst the other provides covering fire from above as it seems it would have a larger troop capacity, and the speeder bike in the back. I think they complement each other very well. Dr. S.
  4. Comparison of the two AT-TE sets from LEGO. The original set 4482 is on the left, the newer 7675 on the right. Which one do you prefer? The construction is largely similar. Main differences are: 1) Legs do not click into position - the large hinge pieces in the first set are replaced with elastic bands to pull the 4 smaller legs back into position and the middle legs swing totally free when it's picked up. 2) Top panel is removable on the first version, on the 2nd it's split into 2 sections, hinged, with a little carry handle right in the middle which can be extended. 3) Feet are more robust and do not fall apart like in the first version. 4) The addition of hidden launchers below the front panels - the second version now actually fires missiles! 5) Top gun is further back and now on a clicking turntable instead of swinging free. However I don't think the gun is as nice, but it is larger. 6) Middle legs extend further and have large dish panels higher up to hide more of the mechanism. Dr. S.
  5. Comparison of the two Republic Gunship sets from LEGO. The original set 7163 from 2002 and the newer 7676 from 2008. Which one do you prefer? Dr. S.
  6. I assumed it was the Droid's eye. Great review BTW. Now I know what all the little bits are! I have this set as well, I quite like the Droid. Dr. S.
  7. This was possibly my first ever LEGO set (I can't really recall whether I had this one first or a plane set I can also recall). Thanks for the review. Dr. S.
  8. Some more Walkamatron variants... * * * In the early 1940’s, special Walkamatrons were developed for military purposes. These machines had dual sets of legs on twin axles and were diesel powered. They typically mounted a small machine gun in the centre, or a flamethrower. They were produced by Sinister Incorporated in Tabletown factories for the Allies and became known as “Warmatrons”. In keeping with the Walkamatron principle of doing a job that humans couldn’t be bothered to do, Warmatrons were well suited for attacking enemy defences to save Allied troops having to leave their barracks. However in 1942, the Axis forces developed their own version of the Warmatron known as the “Reichsmatron”, and thus human troops were forced to enter battle once again as the war reached a stalemate. After the war, Sinister Incorporated sued the German government for patent infringement of the original Walkamatron device, and more specifically for failure to secure a licence to construct a foreign version of the Warmatron design. In 1989, a surviving Warmatron and a Reichsmatron were found in southern Italy, still locked in battle as no-one had bothered to turn them off. * * * In 1971, after falling sales of Walkamatron models across the board, Sinister Incorporated scientists branched out with a design that could slimb sheer cliff faces, or even buildings by using a series of pneumatic suckers. In addition, instead of the standard optical arrays on either side of the machine, tools could be gripped. The design resulted in the Burgluratron 3000. Unfortunately, the design only saw limited production after the Police closed down the factory and arrested all concerned. Doctor Sinister escaped capture and instead instituted legal proceedings against the Police for loss of profits. Dr. S.
  9. I own this set and it's one of my favourites, simply because of the cool colour scheme which you mention, plus all the vehicles and accessories. The Res-Q theme is one of my faves of all time actually, I own nearly all of them (missing a small set that was only available in the US or Japan, I think). Dr. S.
  10. We've got a new product now, the ALL-NEW Pet Perambulator Walkamatron Deluxe! Even newer versions are in the pipeline! Dr. S.
  11. Yeah, it's probably the most pointless thing ever! Feel free, it's not a word I made up, I got it from somewhere, can't recall where, it's been in my vocabulary for years. Dr. S.
  12. I'm fairly sure I've got the one at the top. The bottom one looks like a Castle/Viking head? The one in the middle I've not seen before. Dr. S.
  13. I was going to build a MF version of my abode, but it's got at least 300 rooms and the mining droids are still excavating inside the mountain - last time I went wandering I found a brand new bowling alley down on sub-level 349. Good project BTW, I love the little bathroom! Dr. S.
  14. Great video - thanks for posting it. Interesting to see all the different heads currently in production. Dr. S.
  15. Sorry, my bad, my brain is clearly addled. I suspect some kind of slow assassination plot by my enemies. (Note to self - PAY ATTENTION dammit!) Dr. S.
  16. Thanks. I put it there as it was SW related. Dr. S.
  17. Something I knocked up - I used to draw these things at school. And people wonder why I didn't get anywhere... It's on Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/doctorsinister/2794622234/ And YouTube: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=_sAP2IXcfsQ Dr. S.
  18. LOL. Wow. It's a pure coincidence, I assure you. Dr. S.
  19. Lucas doesn't care where his money comes from, he might just do it and something like this could revive a brand. After all, look at what it did for LEGO! I wouldn't write off the possibility. Not that it is one as long as TLC holds the rights. Dr. S. Lucas has no integrity, you just have to look at the CW movie itself to realise that (release a TV movie onto the big screen to scrape up loads more cash). Dr. S.
  20. Interesting idea...does the helmet pinch? Dr. S.
  21. As great as ever! I love these stories - the in-jokes are great and the technical skills in making them are very much apparent. Dr. S.
  22. Besides which...if LEGO dropped SW, then Megablox might snatch up the licence - and can you see TLC tolerating that? Dr. S.
