  1. More to offer in what sense? In terms of parts, propably. But I think 7725 is pretty and cute. Personally, I don't like the look of 7735. Seems many people don't agree with me :-) I find 7755 as good as 7760. I guess everybody agree that 7750 is the prettiest one?
  2. Do you know any of those collectors?
  3. Hello everybody, Another major step in correcting and/or completing inventories of 12V trains: 12V TRAIN MOTORS! I thank you in advance for your help. Few people have already helped me in various ways. Thank you too! :-) Since a couple of weeks ago, many improvements are achieved on inventories of 12V trains. Please check bricklink (bb12v, bb12va, bb12vb, bb12vc). But much more work should still be done. There are 3 types of red 12V motors and 4 types of black ones, depending on their contact holes or the pin located on the top. (see photos below) Type 1: bb12va Electric, Train Motor 12V Modern Type I with 2 round contact holes with integrated pin Type 2: bb12vb Electric, Train Motor 12V Modern Type II with 3 round contact holes with integrated pin Type 3 bb12vb Electric, Train Motor 12V Modern Type II with 3 round contact holes with separated pin Type 4 bb12vc Electric, Train Motor 12V Modern Type III with 3 slotted contact holes with separated pin Note that for now, the types 2 and 3 are not distinguished on bricklink, but I already requested to split bb12vb (by adding the type 3 and changing the name of type 2, as well types 1 and 4). They haven't yet replied to my request. Please check your 12V motors: carefully check the type and write down the date exactly as it is written (see underneath your motors). For example, 36 5 means 36th week in 1985; 03 4 means third week in 1984, and so forth. Then give me your data. For example, I would like to get your data as follows: Black type 1: 12802, 26 0, 19 0 Black type 2: 42 81, 15 81 Black type 3: 27 2, 17 5 Black type 4: 23 0, 37 2 Red type 1: 23 0 Red type 2: 25 2, 49 2 Red type 3: 07 4, 39 3 (when checking my own motor, I myself confused the types; or a friend wrote down the date incorrectly, so please double check). If needed, I may ask you photos LATER (not now). Thank you in advance! See photos of all types, red and black, for comparison: Below, I give you the data I have gathered so far. In the first comment below this post, I give some remarks concerning what I have found and what we still need to find out. Thank you in advance! There is no in-consistency between the dates so far. TLG didn't produce two types at the same time; indeed they started a new type once they ran out of the previous type. However, the move from type 2 to type 3 happened for black motor in 27th week in 1982 (or 25th or 26th week?), but I have a red motor of type 2 from 39th week in 1982. So the red motor type 2 was released after the first black type 3 was released! This should be for this obvious reason: as the black motor was needed more than the red one, they had more red motors in their stock, so the move to type 3 happened later than the same move for the black motors. Questions: 1) Did the train 7750 come also with the red motor type 2? Both 7730 and 7750 were released between 1980-2 and we know that 7730 came also with type 2 motor. but all trains 7750 that I have seen came with type 1 motor. 2) Did the train 7760 come also with the black motor type 3? we know it came with types 1 and 2. 3) Did the train 7725 come with the black motor type 1 in its earliest releases between January-August 1981? We already know that it came with motor types 2 and 3. 4) I strongly believe that the trains 7735 and 7745 came also with motor type 4 in their releases between 1989-90. We need however evidence. (evidence for bricklink means a photo of a sealed or MISB set) If you have (or you know somebody) any sealed or MISB 12v train, specially 7730, 7725, 7750, 7735, 7745, please let me know. Your help is very needed.
  4. Some people had already 7730 but don't forget that between 1983-4 the only trains in market were 7740, 7725, 7727 and 7727. For certain reasons, I know that 7725 were sold very well in France (it is the only train I see in market of France, then 7740). 7740 was popular. But still 7727 should had been sold well. Another factor I can think about is that the box 7727 is fragile comparing to 7740, 7730, 7760, 7750. But this doesn't explain everything. The boxes 7725, 7735 and 7745 are not rare at all. By the way, who agrees with me that train 7735 is the less attractive 12V train?
  5. 2 years is short but this doesn't explain it. The sets 7730, 7760 were released for 3 years. The set 7750 also sold for 3 years but only in Germany, Netherland and Belgium (not in UK, France, Italy!). Having watched all markets, I can say that I have seen - 8 boxes 7727 - about 50 boxes 7750 - more than 100 boxes 7730 - more than 50 boxes 7760 The ratio of 3 years over 2 years is 3/2=1.5 but the difference I am experienting is kind of 10, i.e. for 10 boxes 7730 there is only one box 7727! There should be a better explaination. Already one can wonder why the trains 7727 and 7755 were released only for 2 years? They were not sold well in market? I don't know but I find the train 7727 as nice and attractive as 7730 and much better than 7735. I consider 7735 the worst 12v train! I find the locomotive 7755 cute.
  6. Nice collection. I will ask you some questions later. I am focusing on collecting all 4.5V and 12v trains (gray era). For 12v trains, I want to collect all language-types boxes. For 7730 there are 3, for 7750 there is one, for 7715 there are maybe 4. Currently I have 5 boxed 7760, 3 boxed 7730, 3 boxed 7745, 3 boxed 7755,... but mostly are D/F/NL. I need to switch them with a different variation of boxes. How did you find 12v trains? From bricklink? I have a hard time to find a boxed 7727 in good condition and reasonable condition. I have no idea why this one from 1983-4 is so rare? So are 7755 and 7838 from the same time.
  7. 2/2? Like 2nd week in 1982? Are you sure? that should be wrong.
  8. Dear Grrr Could you give me the dates (numbers) written underneath all your motors by indicating the color (red or black) and the type? I am not sure that the red-pinned wheels are indicating the latest releases of these trains. A 12v fan and seller in Belgium told me that he heard this red-pinned happened because TLG ran out of black pins at some point and I guess they didn't want to delay and loss money. So they did what they could. Except that they didn't realize this would cause trouble to collectors and 12v fans 25 years after! Last week, I took a photo of my red-pinned wheel and requested to add it to the inventory items on bricklink. It is in process! Last week, they accepted my first request: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=x488c03
  9. Hey guys! By the way, how do you like my photos of 12v motors? These photos took me two hours! Uopn your request and If you liked these photos, I can share a photo of "behind the scene"! :-)
  10. I searched on bricklink. Seems there is not a similar flyer/brochure in 1991 or 1993?!
  11. Grrr That was a great informative comment. Thanks :-) It is now reasoanble to think that was still a 1993 set. Ok, let's assume that in 1992 or early 1993, the set 7865 was sold out and replaced by 5086. Then this one didn't show up in any service brochure? A little bit odd. How people could order a 12v motor then? On the catalog of 1994, it is stated that the 12v parts were still available. I guess a 12v brochure was still available. P.S. It was satated on bricklink that the motor bb12vc with slotted holes was released in 1993. We figured out that this was not the case, but since (at least) 12th week in 1988 coming with 7865. Since the sets 7735 and 7745 were in market until 1990, then we strongly think that they came with motor type 4 since 1988. For the type of motor: Type 1 bb12va Type 2: bb12vb Type 3 bb12vb (bricklink doesn't distinguish types 2 and 3 for now) Type 4 bb12vc
  12. Grrr, it is not clear this one was published in what year. Moreover, the service 5086 is not present here. I have NOT seen 5086 in any catalog or service brochure yet. Dear Thomas, thanks for putting this here. Could you make an excellent scan of this? Two things are not clear. This was published in what year? Why I cannot find the service pack 5086 is in any catalog or brochure?!
  13. Hello everybody, On Page 5 of this brochure from 1991, it is mentioned: http://worldbricks.com/en/catalog-year/1990/catalogs-1991/1991-lego-catalog-2-en-fr-nl.html For owners of 12V Lego trains, a special 12V train brochure is available. Please contact Lego Spares service. Aux utilisateurs de trains Lego 12V: Réclamez la brochure special "trains 12V" a Lego S. A. ... Please let me know if I can find in internet and download the special 12v train brochures from 1991, 1992, 1993 (or even from 1990, 1989, 1988). Otherwise, iIf you have them, I really appreciate if you can scan them or just let me know, so that I can find a way to borrow them from me, or even buy them. This is for a longterm project for improving the current inventory of 12v and 4.5V trains on bricklink. One concern is the service bag 5086, which is declared on bricklink from 1993, but I am not sure. I cannot find it in any brochure available online! Cheers
  14. Thanks Jetflap. My request to add this rare battery wagon is now accepted on bricklink: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=x488c03
  15. Jetflap- I have plan to add the second variation of this battery wagon on bricklink. Do you have in mind if you got your battery wagon with black switch together with train 7722 or separated in a service pack 5075? Do you remember what year you bought it?
  16. Thanks for your help. Do you remember what year you bought it? What is the number writen underneath the red motor? (if you haven't switch the motor since you bought it in 80s)
  17. Since the train 7715 is red and blue and if you insist on using this type of battery box, then you can find a black one or a blue one. https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=bb45c03&name=Electric 4.5V Battery Box 6 x 11 x 3 1/3 Type III Complete Assembly for 1-Prong & 2-Prong Connectors&category=[Electric, Battery Box]#T=C https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=bb45c02&name=Electric 4.5V Battery Box 6 x 11 x 3 Type II Complete Assembly for 1-Prong & 2-Prong Connectors&category=[Electric, Battery Box]#T=S&C=7&O={"color":7,"iconly":0} If you live in Canada, I think I have one blue (and also black, I need to check) that I can ship to you. But the battery wagon for trains 7720 or 7722 is a better option (that Carrera124 suggested).
  18. Dear Paul, The question was not if you sell your collection, but rather if your train 7730 has the 3 yellow cones with axle (3943b) or without it (3943a). From what country did you buy it? (and what year if you remember). The year may be found underneath the red motor if you haven't switch it with another train such as 7750. (but if they both indicate the same year, that would be fine :-) )
  19. Carrera124 asked me about the bottom of my battery wagon with black switch. Here is a photo for comparison: (I separated the shell-less magnet from the blue wagon since it confused dr_spock) There were three types of battery wagons, the last type came with train 7722 in two different variation (red or black switch). You can see and compare all types in these photos.
  20. Thanks for sharing this photo. Your battery wagons are in neat condition. Where does the other one come from then?
  21. That would be nice. Any way, I believe you :-)
  22. Actually the black switch is rare. I have googled and checked all photos. Also I have followed many sales in Canada or US, then in UK, Germany, France and Netherland for this train. Only found two battery wagons with black switch, both in UK. I bought the first one. Having seen the second one on Ebay, I only got upset because I realized that mine wasn't unique! :-) You should be correct that the black switch was a late variation. I wonder why they decided to change the color of switch?! They could worry about many things rather than this one! This is how Lego makes the life of collectors hard and more expensive!
  23. Based on this photo, you could claim that the switch is blue!
  24. The answer is "black switch". I found this on Ebay of UK. Having seen the black switch, I thought it was a light problem on photos :-) I checked every link on google but couldn't find a photo of a similar battery wagon. So I bought it. At the time, I had already two red battery wagons for 7722. The rest I got as part of big lots. Specially I don't like the blue one. 7720 is not a good set in my opinion. But 7722 looks good at least. (so do 7710, 7715) I should sell them and will put them on bricklink with low price. It is a magnet like others. Indeed there is another magnet detached of a magnet holder that is attached to the main magnet of that battery wagon. Otherwise it has the same color as other other magnets.
  25. What do you find uncommon in this picture? (do not read other people's answers )
