I'm excited to see these new Juniors sets; the idea of inexpensive ways to get popular figures as well as providing small and inexpensive ships with printed parts seems worth the purchase. If these juniors sets are based on the Original Trilogy I might pick up a few duplicates and build a chibi army. Trying to decide whether to go Empire or Rebel Alliance.

Welp, from reading that newer post about what the sets look like my theories are gone :( Oh well.

I feel like some crazy conspiracy theorist, but the prices for the Juniors X-Wing, Tie-Fighter, and A-Wing are the exact same prices as the original sets released for those ships. These three sets also take place over the first three years of the Lego Star Wars theme, with the X-Wing being from 1999 for $30, the A-Wing being from 2000 for $15, and the Tie-Fighter being from 2001 for $20. This also coincides with the 20th Lego Star Wars anniversary, with 1999 being the year Lego Star Wars was introduced. Maybe I'm misreading things, but could these be re-releases of the original sets? Or is this all just a coincidence?

Looks great! I was never a fan of the TIE-D when I saw it in the TIE Fighter collection set, but this looks infinitely better!

Decided to add some landing gear to hold it up when on a shelf; also just looks more accurate.

Recently I've picked up an interest in the Y-Wing from the Star Wars original trilogy. This interest inspired me to try creating y-wings of my own, inspired by Lego's sets of the past and my own design choices. However, there was one thing that began to haunt me: the UCS Y-Wing. It seemed so distant, so impossible, so... intriguing. Just last night I handed myself the challenge of creating my own on LDD. However, I decided to stray from the instructions and allow my imagination to flow. Using pictures of the original set and some diagrams of the ship I built a (very) inaccurate depiction of the Y-Wing to the best of my ability. It was designed to be cost-effective, to be simple, to be everything the smaller versions stood for. It was my way of moving on from my childhood and onto bigger things, but still holding onto the past ever so slightly. It wasn't designed to be accurate; rather, at the time I designed it for fun, and thus it isn't very well thought out. Everything is pieced together so that it can be easily disassembled for travel or storage and quickly put back together. Each section is held together with 4-5 pins, hopefully making the connections strong enough for display. Due to my inexperience with UCS, or building anything good in general, it is a bit simplistic in design, and has several design errors, such as the body being too short and so on. The likelihood of me changing the design is small, as I have become rather fond of its flawed nature. Though the body is inaccurate, I am very happy with how it turned out. While still holding some properties of the original, it has a certain Kenner-toyishness to it that makes me smile. Perhaps labeling it a UCS is erroneous; rather, it is just a large version of your standard Y-Wing set, but without any special building styles. Unless I get the uncontrollable urge to change something, this is how it will look. I hope you enjoyed this build and, if you want the LDD file, I will be happy to provide it. Thank you for reading! With a small, medium, and large y-wing here in my "simple" series, let's add in a UCS size model! Only partially through, I think this one is less of an army builder and more of a fun experiment.

Yep; it's entirely inspired by the old 1999 sets, but with a new twist.

It's about 26 cents on bricklink: not the most cost effective, but looks better.

Been working the past few days on a small, simple Y-wing. The idea is that, instead of spending nearly $150 on 3 TLG y-wings I could instead design my own, cheap versions for army building. The plan is to, at Christmas, open up a Bricklink package and have the pieces for three of them, which is why they have to be simple and inexpensive. In total there are three: One normal-sized vessel, one slightly smaller and stubbier, and another that I made to resemble a Hasbro Y-wing toy for a battle pack idea. However, I can't decide on which one to mass produce. Any suggestions would be great, and please, help me decide! #1 is the battle pack. #2 is the normal-sized one. #3 is the slightly stubbier one.

Awesome build! Looks almost like something Lego would make. Keep up the good work.
