Khan Makhmos, (N, 16) ... In reply, the Shanagh force marched forward, eager for blood. Quickly the marches became a run, both sides wanting to get into battle as soon as possible. Makhmos' was grim, as it was in all battles. He made a gesture forwards, and his cavalry gallopped towards the enemy ranks, before suddenly coming to a stop just yards before their foes. Every orc grabbed their bows and began to loose hundreds of arrows upon the bewildered Shanagh. Makhmos too fired his bow, caving in the heads of many an orc. A dishonourable way to fight indeed, but it did the trick. A hail of arrows came back in reply, knocking many of Makhmos' warriors off their saddles. The Shanagh's own horse archers fired back through the gathering dust from battle. Makhmos made another gesture, and his cavalry quickly reformed, before drawing their swords and spears. The Shanagh horsemen made some gestures too, though they're too rude to mention here. Both contingents of cavalry began to charge each other, weapons raised, bronze swords gleaming against the harsh scarlet sky. This was the part of the battle Makhmos liked the most. Now was the time for him to prove his bravery once more. Screaming as loud as they could, the two sides crashed into each other with great speed. It wasn't long before Makhmos' boys had carved through the Shanagh's ranks, splitting their unit in two. Makhmos was now deep into the Shanagh force, cutting down any riders who dared oppose him. With a mighty bellow he thrust his spear into the chest of an Orc, before drawing his sword again to slay another foe. Ogkhlala fought side-by-side, fighting just as heroicly as his father. It wasn't long before the Shanagh horsemen were routed. In a panic they galloped away to their camp, hoping to be safe there. But Makhmos' boys were skilled horsemen and quickly caught up with their cowardly foes. With their spears they hewed down the fleeing orcs until none remained. The orcs under Makhmos let out a great cheer, before turning their attention to the Shanagh infantry that had engaged Makhmos' own a few yards away. Still in his battle rage, Makhmos said with a mighty roar: "CHAARGE!" The horsemen galloped forth.

Why does Adalaide have a gun? Do we all have guns? I can't find my gun. Has anyone seen my gun? Another wine please...

Oh dear, is Pedro dead? ... There isn't any more of that whiskey left is there?

There were a few 2009 sets at Toyworld Porirua, so I bought 8014 Clone Walker Battle Pack and 8401 City People.
-
Having just purchased the new Clone Battlepack, I wondered how well the black kama included would work as an official lego trenchcoat. Here are the results: It doesn't look quite right, but I think it works reasonably well. I'm thinking I could add one of the old solid capes to his back to make it look a little smoother. I'd love to hear your opinions on this.

And I'm Piav Blockioli, the better-looking one. We've worked with the Baritones for some time now, and for our efforts we've recently been promoted to captains. I'm deeply grateful to have this honour, and in return I hope to serve you well in these dark times. I'm fairly confident that my twin brother Perry is not a rat. Believe it or not, I've known him since I was a child, and he's never stabbed nobody in the back before.

No, the character in this story will stay seclusive for the most part, though in my other story Khamul is heading off to meet up with the other trolls.

Potato received! ? -
Thanks for the info, ForceMaster, the sets sound very promising! It sounds as if Indy will be getting a jacketless torso with the Cairo set, and I can't wait to see the return of the turban and scimitar. I presume Ambush in Cairo is the same size as Motorcycle Chase and Jungle Duel, and Fighter Plane Attack is about the same size as Peril in Peru? Thanks again ForceMaster. I don't suppose you saw Venice Chase or Graveyard Fight too?

The Baritones 2 Introduction & Discussion Thread

My reletive Perry bears striking resemblance to Lee... I can only hope their similarity is just in appearance. A very nice twist indeed, I'm looking forward to this. -
Khan Makhmos, (N, 16) The tall khaki grass danced against the gentle breeze. All across the plain the ground swayed and shimmered with the light from the setting sun. The sky was red. Inside his tent Khan Makhmos sat, deep in thought. He reflected on his days of glory, his resiliant defence of the Abukh camp, his audacious victories against the Shanagh tribe, the wars that made him the most feared Khan in all of the Orcish Steppes. Decades of battle had made Makhmos a weary man, each of his scars telling a tale of his bravery. The glory days of Makhmos were over and now he was old and withered, but he would continue to lead his tribe into battle right until his death. Indeed, though his body was frail, Makhmos was still a mastermind of the battlefield. Makhmos sat... ... and sat... ...and sat. The tent door flapped open. His hawk-eyes flickered up in an instant to see the silhoutte of a warrior. "What is it, my son?" "Father," Ogkhlala began, his long hair wrestling with the breeze, "the Shanagh tribe have entered the battlefield. The men await your orders." "Excellent. Good work my son." Makhmos lifted himself up from the floor, and followed Ogkhlala out of his tent and into the glaring red sun. Makhmos examined the infantry before making his way to his cavalry. Ogkhlala helped Makhmos up onto his steed. This particular horse was Makhmos' favourite. It had served him well over the years, never faultering. It had been with him through many of his most glorious victories. It was a truly seasoned battle-horse. From atop this horse Makhmos surveyed the battlefield. Nothing but tall, flat grass for miles, the sky red with blood-lust. The perfect scene for one of Makhmos' battles. Across the plains stood the Shanagh, nowhere to hide, chanting and taunting. The foul horns from both sides began to sound, and Makhmos, without uttering a word, drew his scimitar and raised it above his head. As one his army began to march towards the already doomed Shanagh force.

My creation Mini Star Wars EP.1-3
MagPiesRUs replied to CREATION K.O creation's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Great work, CREATION K.O. creation, what brilliant minis you've made. My favourites would have to be the Hailfire Droid and the Republic Gunship - I love that you've added a little Yoda in the RGS. Thanks for sharing. -
That's a true beauty, ZCerberus! Your ship is progressing very well. I'm wondering, are you planning on replacing the decaled torsos on your marines with the official redcoat torsos from the new Pirate line? They both look quite similar.

I thought you may be interested in seeing the MOCs I created for the Witch Hunt Mafia game. You're not? Ah well, here it is anyway... I'll start with those two buildings that were in the background of practically every photo... Generic Peasant House I couldn't find one more red slope to finish the roof, so decided to leave a hole in it to make it look a little weathered. The back. It seems the owners like their house aerated. As you can see I've cut a few corners. Don't worry though, it gets much worse as we go on... Market This one is simply the main building from 6267 Lagoon Lock-Up, only with a red roof with a dome and market flags. I quite like the dome though. Back: Spanish Windmill This one only appeared in the background of the introduction thread and the morning of day one, as after then I had to break it up for pieces. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of it alone, but here's a picture I could find of it. Note the use of the dome technique again. Witch-Burning Stake and Platform The platform saw a few changes as the game progressed, starting off as entirely wood. It was changed to be made of stone when it was pointed out that it wasn't the wisest of ideas to play with fire while on a wooden platform, and later on some sticks were added at the base of the stake. Mustafa's Stall There was much mystery surrounding this pleasant little stall, but it turns out that nothing was amiss here. (Trivia: It is a little-known fact that Mustafa was the first man to master the use of skylights. ) Charles' Manor This featured when Azufre's resident perv Philip tried to take a peek at Joan's whatsits, and the subsequent awkward Charles-Joan-Sergio-Alexander meet-up. This one was quite a rushed job. The final photos featured very little of the wall itself, and the parts that were in the photos were too dark to see. The bedroom. Yes, there is a mix of grey and bley here, but I figured it would be too dark to notice in the photos. The exterior and interior combined: Hernan and Gustav's Farm This farm was the scene where Hernan lashed out at his Miguel with his large selection of blades, and managed to wound the unsuspecting vigilante. The farm was originally going to be on the windmill, but when that was broken, this became their new farm. And what farm isn't complete without a scarecrow? The River Fuego The site of the arrival of Roberto and the escape of Fernando. On one side of the bank is a farm that bears striking resemblance to Hernan's. Charles' Ugly Grave This one was a last minute addition to Fernando's escape when I realised that the word "Lady" was underneath my avatar. Fernando's house As seen when the soldiers searched the inquisitor's house. On his shelf are the items he purchased from the market, his spare staff, and Martinus' delicious croissant. This room was a quick alteration of my Guy Fawkes MOC. Even the SNOTless plates where the barrels should be are still there! Alexander's Church One of the few MOCs in the game that wasn't a half-hearted effort. Here it is altogether. I never made a roof for it though a none of the photos required it. Side: Needless to say, the church was never intended to be seen from the back. The two pieces seperated: The front: Side: Top. Here we can see the bell and the much controversial key-cross. Doors to the church: The inside of the church: The church altar, with candles and the key-cross: At the top of the church lies a large cross and a stained-glass window (inspired by Dragonator's from his Dragon's Keep MOC): Side walls of church, with lattice windows, arch and back-door: And finally... The Rest of the Mess Seen in Long Shots of Azufre There they are! Buildings straight from 7785 Arkham Asylum, as well as a red roof version of 8779 The Grand Tournament (how I still had that intact after 4 years is beyond me...) and wall section from the church. Not my finest pieces of work, but they served to make the town look bigger, and you can barely see them anyway. ... And that's it! Thanks for looking, comments are much appreciated.

Wow, what a creative comic you've been making. I've found this comic very addictive. I love the premise of it - a classic story with a modern twist. You've put some great writing into this. All of the personalities of the characters are very well developed and the pace of the comic is perfect. I love the photography you've used - it has a real dark and gritty feel to it, and it reflects the story well. Great work, I love it so far. I can't wait to read the rest of it.
-
Ah thanks everyone, I'll get to writing right away. I'll finish the story of Khamul, then start the story of the Abukh Orcs which will hopefully see more interaction with other players.

Thanks again for the feedback. Thank you. The flag on the car isn't supposed to be a swastika mind you, it's just a plain red flag. I can't find any good reference pics of it anywhere, but this one will have to do: Thanks. I agree that the back wheel needs some mudguards, but due to the sloped 6-wide piece I used, it proved to be difficult. In the end I didn't bother, but hoped that the car boot would be a good enough replacement. Thanks again guys.

Wow, this is superb oo7! Where do I start? The roof is simply stunning, very Japanese, and I love the contrast between the white and the dark grey. The MOC is really bustling with life, I love all of the details you've put outside of the fortress, such as the falling leaves, rice paddy and the vegetation along the river bank. The minifigs you've made look very authentic, very clever uses of the deatheater head, skellie-sword and Lando helmet. The entrance to the fortress is superb, I adore the torii you've made, as well as those lamps (?) outside the gate. The whole MOC looks even nicer with the addition of your tea house MOC, which does well to make the whole scene look more tranquil. Before I start babbling, I'll conclude by saying that this is a wonderful MOC. Like Sandy, I too would love to see some more photos of this masterpiece.

Ah, thanks for the compliments, and for bringing this back to attention. It was only a couple of weeks back that I was considering creating a larger version of this MOC. The painter will be back one day...

The Many Adventures of the Whacker and the Walrus #7
MagPiesRUs replied to Hinckley's topic in Brick Flicks & Comics
Another brilliant episode! This one had some great moments. I especially loved the muffin hat and Imitation Anime Hinckley's death. However, due to the weekly format, I felt that this episode lacked the focus that the others did. I was also a little disappointed with the way the steampunk pirate debacle was wrapped up. It felt like a bit of an anticlimax to me (though I can hardly talk... ). You more than made up for these though with your entertaining writing and excellent photography. I really loved this episode, great work, I'll look forward to reading your next comic (whichever series it may be) in the future. -
I'd love to continue my 6-month old story of Khamul the Orc, but I haven't followed the story for the last 20 or so pages. Is there a plot summary somewhere? If someone could write one it would be much appreciated.
-
I'd like to play too.
-
Very nice! I like the way you made the rod to hang the tapestry, and the use of the flowers at the bottom works well. The picture itself is nice too, but I'm unsure why there is white coming through into the castle. Is this mist? Once again, nice job, and good luck in the contest.

A very nice poll, theBrickster! These sets would have to be my two favourites of the Indy line, so it is a tough decision to make for me. 7682 Shanghai Chase has a superb selection of minifigs, all exclusive to the set. The gangsters look great in their black suits and fedoras and it's great to have a new Indy. The cars are great too, it's nice to get some 30's cars, but from the pics I do get a feeling that it's a little incomplete. There don't seem to be many clever techniques in the build of the cars, and there is very SNOT on them. The other thing that concerns me about it are the big silly-looking wheels, which really takes away from the design to me. I feel that the Adventurers spoked wheels would have worked better. That said, I still love the set, and will look forward to buying at least one copy. 7622 Race for the Stolen Treasure is a great set, the only set to include soldiers with kepis. The vehicles are amazingly built, with minimal <insert that tiresome argument> pieces and some great techniques. There is a lot of SNOT used on the vehicles, which give them a really pleasing clean and smooth look. The first time I saw these vehicles I was stunned by the detail, as I had never seen an official lego car with such a clever design while still staying in minifig scale. The only complaint I can find in the design of the vehicles is the use of tan and brown plates that disrupt the colour scheme, but most of these pieces cannot be seen in the finished product. Although it's rather pricey, the Race for the Stolen Treasure makes for a great army builder set, with 3 Nazis, a jeep and a truck, and you can never have enough of those metallic gold treasure chests. In the end I voted for Race for the Stolen Treasure, as although Shanghai Chase has the better minifigs, the vehicles in 7622 are in my opinion better designed than those in 7682.
