Link to Flickr Gallery. Just to bring this up to date I have added a second track that goes all the way through my station. The added bit is built onto a 32X16 plate and built to the same style as the railway station. It houses a small appartment above the line, again fully furnished. However I have attached a link to my flickr account which shows the railway station in place along with the other MOCs. It sits next to the police station. I've just made a level crossing for the road outside as well using the bits from the recently discountinued LEGO railway crossing, but for two tracks. There is still some work to be done on the inside of the station for the second track. I am intending it to be a straight through line so not to have a platform, but that may yet change? I also intend (As they are modular.) to extand the exisiting platforms to enable them to take trains three coaches long, probably by including a 32 X 32 base, although this does eat up those 1 X 1 tiles for the ballast.

The skimmer is nice and maybe with not too many more bricks the pilot could get her legs back? It can be hard when you have limited resources to make what you want, but also it gets you thinking about ways to build that nomally you would not consider and in the long run a little pain at he start (specially for your pilot.) can be a good thing.

How high is the table ff the ground and what run up do the longer wheel base engines need to get up onto it? I like the idea but have found that long trains especially steam engines seem to ground out quite easily even just going up one plate at a time. I wonder how you have overcome this.

Do expressions on minifigs matter to you?
Hrw-Amen replied to lego idk's topic in General LEGO Discussion
It does not matter that much, I use both classic and the newer ones. I prefer yellow rather than fleshies, but the expression/face should match the hair, for example I would not want black beards and then have brown hair. I do try and make then unique by swapping them around if I have lots of the same figure, so that if I am telling a story with them itis easy to identify say which policeman or villian did what. -
I am sure there are plenty of historical (Ancient) themes that could be of interest to children (And adults.) if done properly that could involve some form of conflict or adventure but within the context of the theme. How about a proper Atlantis theme, not that underwater one, but an ancient Atlantis, that would be fun. These sets could also be marketed as educational.

My personal opinion is that people can do what they want and if it is OK with them and it is stuff they own then that is fine by me. However, on a more personal note I don't like using non LEGO items. I think the only non LEGO items I have used are some printed stickers for signs on buildings which I made. I do appreciate things like mini-fig accessories and have considered buying some of them. I have not simply because of the cost. But to use another brands bricks or some copied bricks then I would not do that at all in any way. As for cutting or painting bricks, well in the days prior to the internet where the LEGO you had was what was from your sets or the odd box of basic bricks I did resort to painting a few bricks black when I ran out. Nowadays though I would just not do that as it is easy to get the parts you want within just a matter of days and after all it is LEGO a toy, so it is not that desperate that I need it now is it?

I have to admit that I found the Pharohs Quest sets a little off putting. When I heard of them I was just getting interested in LEGO again and the thought of getting some good representations of those old gods and religious buildings in LEGO was quite interesting. However I soon discovered that the potential of these sets were ruined by the fact that the gods were being attacked by evil human adventurers / grave robbers. All quite offensive. I mean would they make a set where people were attacking a church / mosque or digging up a christian graveyard and destroying religious icons? Just to say it is historical is no excuse as that can be said for most religions around today. The thing is they could have made some really interesting sets with some historical conflict which would have been better but instead they choose to cheapen it.

That does appear to be one mighty big shunter. I did think that it was way to big for mini-fig scale until I sawe the pictures of the real thing and then realised it was a lot bigger than the little engine I had imagined. Yes I agree dark green would have been better, but the parts can be hard to come by and expensive so I think you have done a pretty good job all in all at representing this engine.

If LEGO made one I'd buy it, we had a couple of these on our N Gauge layout when I was a kid, one in BR blue and the other in the old green, a bit like your version. This is the sort of engin I'd like to have, the trouble with the electric ones they produce is that they look odd without all the overhead cables. I much prefer diesel or steam for that reason.

Yes, it is quite hard to tell that these are LEGO from the photographs until you look close.Very well done. Would also like to see an internal shot of the seating arrangements for minifigs.

Thanks for the replies. I am planning a secret Blacktron retreat in my town. Just started getting the bricks together so maybe a while but will obviously be a City/Town (Possibly Sci-fi?) post when it id done. On a side note, managed to get the red cargo train on discount. Built the engine last night, looks good, may try and make a black version as that would be a very suitable Blacktron engine I think?

It is a nice ship, but I don't think i'd get it. I would rather a TLG line for something generic for the next space theme, like the space marines.

OK, have found it now and added my vote. Lets hope loads of others do as well as we could do with some new trains. I did find it quite hard using the discover button to wade through so after a three or so pages I gave up. Still one more vote added.

Interesting on two fronts. First the fixed front wheels and the drive set up. I may try that for a small steam engine as when I made my tank engine I had trouble with that. This looks like a good solution. Secondly 8 wide. I have tried that but felt they looked a little wide.(Your's seem OK though.) 6 wide seem so skinny so I go with 7, but it is quite hard sometimes to build stuff. Still, this is a nice engine especially next to the EN, I do like the dark green color for trains, it is as though it was made for them.

A really nice little train. I like steam trains but thy are so hard to build. This one is nice and bright as well.

Sorry, but after reading back through this I cannot see the link to the Cuusoo project and I would like to add my support as it seems like a really interesting and neat idea for a fun train whilst being based on a real one, so something to keep everyone happy. Can someone point me in the right direction please?

Flickr GalleryBrickshelf Gallery. This is not a very serious railway build, but I am planning a modualr Blacktron building for my LEGO City and so it seemed appropriate to have a carriage for the Blacktron cult leader to ride around in plotting all his dastardly deeds as he went. It does have a detailed interior, with two doors that open and of course roof hexagons that open as well with removable end bits enabling the Blacktron cult followers to move down the train taking advantage of whatever other facilities it may have hooked up. (Like a Buffet car.)

That may be the case but the nearest to me is still three hours drive away. I did raise this with our local toy shop who sells LEGO and asked them about having a PAB wall (As they sell a lot of it.) but apparently they enquired already and were told they could not as they ae not an official LEGO store. So I am not even sure it is possible to set one up yourself as a franchise type thing?

Quite nice model, but I am not sure it is futuristic enough for space marines? It looks like an old Crusader tank from the war. Quite a good attempt at one.

Although I would have liked to be able to buy the Winchester, I do understand the reasons it is not being made. (I may not agree with them but I understand them.) I don't really think a seperate sub-theme aimed at adults is needed. There are many ways that adults can make whatever they want and there are many sets that are aimed at adults or older teens, such as modualrs and UCS sets. Also if as an adult you want to make something you can, you just buy the bricks from shop at home or bricklink or where ever. You can even design it first in LDD or similar if you are that way inclined. The only thing I could possibly see being a good idea and something that could be aimed at adults (Although excluding younger people.) would be bits packs, such as specific colours or sets of technic gears, railway parts, plants, animals, various things have been suggested over the years and some even done at one point or another. Perhaps an ideas booklet aimed at the older builder maybe a good idea, something to give inspiration and plans for a couple of more complex builds with a parts list. But an entire sub-theme, I can't see it happening.

Great roof, I like that a lot. Some times the roof can be so difficult to get right but you have done a good job and made the build look so interesting. Yes! The lad on the toilet is really funny, reminds me so much of school and the practical jokes everyone would play on each other.

Thanks for the replies. I have been working on this since just before Christmas so it has taken just over four months to complete, although some of that time was admittedly getting the bricks together. I am quite pleased with the result although I would have liked a slightly larger garage area on the ground floor. However you can't have everything, there just is not space. I think it needs a couple more of the cells being occupied though and maybe another lab tech and victim on the table. I have to see what is in the spare mini-fig box. I don't think I'd like to be the occupants of the yellow house next door though with that helicopter taking off and landing right by my bedroom everyday!

Really nice with lots of details and so many of those blue panels, 600 you say? Gosh, but they are put to such good effect.

Good to see these appearing in threads. I've managed to get five so far and am thinking of scenarios for them.

Seems like a nice classic sail boat with the wave pattern almost as interesting and requiring a more detailed shot of how it was done?
