Thanks for the heads-up about Merrick, just bought his helmet by itself off Firestar Toys, going to be going on their custom head I already have for him!
-
I’m going to hazard a guess that he means with the hover tank itself being discontinued and then the armour not being featured in Solo or any other major current media (Clone Wars, Resistance and Ep 9) that there likely won’t be any further sets to feature it in the future to expand their army building availability.

LEGO Star Wars 2018 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!
Daddy_Stardust replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Could be a case of firestar to the rescue again then. Well if that's true then that suits me fine given I've got the Firestar Merrick head already, means I only need to buy the helmet, which should be nice and readily available on Bricklink -
Nope, he came with this book and was called "Special Forces Commander". Jek-14 also wears this helmet design with 75051 Jedi Scout Fighter, and a blue version dubbed a "Special Forces Clone Trooper" came with 75018 Jek-14's Stealth Starfighter (a re-coloured E-Wing from the old EU).

Looking good! Only bit that doesn't work for me is the fact that the two regular troopers are holding M41A pulse rifles from Aliens... which for me is just too famous a gun from another sci-fi franchise to blend naturally. But if you like 'em that's all that matters

If I may ask, what's your reluctance to buy a Clone Army Customs helmet? They look great and in my opinion far better than the Arealight version. Arealight Vs COC:

Not even the hair from Merida's mini doll? I know it's not tied back but it's about the closest type to the actress's hair I can think of at present. https://brickset.com/minifigs/dp002/merida

Eyebrows are a bit dark, but The Mandarin?

What's your recent LEGO Star Wars Purchase?
Daddy_Stardust replied to KimT's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Just ordered two of the Conveyex (to combine into a longer train) for my son for Christmas. They were reduced on Amazon by £20, plus I'm not on the UK mainland so got VAT off too, £48 each rather than the £79.99 RRP, a much more appropriate price! Granted it looks nowhere near as good as the MOCs I've seen, but I don't have the talent or parts for that, plus it's what the little man wants so gotta go with it! I'm sure I can modify the front a bit better anyway... even just two 1x3 dark bluish grey tiles and a row of three trans red 1x1 titles to smooth up the front and give it a windscreen I'm sure will improve it. -
Very nice... I'd done something so similar to that! However mine are Clone Army Custom helmets and I used Jace Malcom to become Boss from Republic Commando (well, almost, his more accurate helmet wasn't available at the time! https://www.firestartoys.com/Shop/Minifigure-Headgear/Clone-Army-Customs-Headgear/39907-Clone-Army-Customs-~-Commando-Sarge-Helmet.html) and gave a Republic Trooper the more commonly featured helmet from the CGI mini-movies. I did in fact buy him a white single-shoulder plastic pauldron, but don't like it, it covers too much of the body detail. I'm also not personally a fan of brick-built weaponry, so they've got custom ones... which may or may not be Brickarms? Can't remember haha!

Hmm it’s interesting, it sorta works. However when it comes to official chinstrap heads, there is already some fair variety; two sides of the female immigration officer, two sides to the 2016 Death Star trooper, two sides to the the 2012 Death Star trooper, plus you could use the modern Rebel commando (and older one if you don’t mind plain black eyes) and the reverse of the T-16 pilot - that’s 8 or 9 off the top of my head straight away!
-
Problem is, unless you know a custom one that hangs low, unfortunately they won't be compatible with the neck fur.
-
Well credit where credit's due, 50% is my idea, the other 50% belongs to DrMuttonchops... I just happened to get all my parts in the mail first haha
-
Here we go... someone had to do it first, the complete Cassian Andor parka jacket experience!
-
Very nicely done... gonna have to go all out now myself haha. I've been meaning to do this for ages too, but wanted to make Leia as Boushh into a real bounty hunter before she took his gear, and old school 'glow in the dark' Voldemort's head is literally perfect for what old school Star Wars-Legends visualised the Ubese as. Just a rather expensive head... so here's an idea for anyone with the cash to waste!
-
Fair enough, can't argue with that. How in the hell I spent nearly a grand on Lego however, I do not know. I hope my 8 year old is appreciate of daddy's anal retentiveness haha!!!
-
So I'm guessing that means figures such as these won't be available for regular retail then? I've spent hundreds at Firestar over the years (just calculated it to be a ridiculous £983.62!!!!) but sadly have never spoken to anyone there... beyond the occasional complaint to customer service when I received the wrong thing
-
Wait... what? What's the deal with these ones???
-
Well your support on the matter has had me order a set just for Cassian haha; don't own any for my pilots, I know if I start going too detailed I'll just never stop, but thought this was a nice detail to add in this case. Besides, needed an excuse to order the 'Surfin USA' surfboard to go with my Beach Boys and their Model A Ford
-
They look great just a shame it turns out you’ve all proven what I thought... there technically aren’t any. Oh well. Here’s another question, has anyone tried the blue squadron arms from Firestar Toys on Cassian Andor in his winter jacket? I’m thinking they might look very movie accurate if the colours work!?

Are there any legs that could be used to update the older sand-green Endor rebel troopers?
-
Got my Firestar helmets yesterday and they're absolutely excellent. I actually think Gold 5's is my favourite, just so tastefully done. Still awaiting some more printed snowspeeder legs and another pilot before I can use them all on a group photo though. And you'll be please to know that true-to-form, the heads I've stuck them on bear no relevance to the movies haha, Gold 5 is on a dark-skinned woman (although she does fly our Y-Wing) and the red one is on the 'cocky face' that looks similar to to Biggs, whilst my custom 'Hoth pilot' red starbirds one is now on the scared black woman pilot Red Leader is at least on the lego stern-faced Snowspeeder pilot though, so I may avoid annoying someone out there with that one haha.
-
Still awaiting on my Firestar helmets to arrive. But in the meantime, here's a nice little very basic custom I did that everyone can easily do and most-importantly, is apparently accurate to a background helmet from ESB (probably the Hoth briefing since it reportedly belonged to "Hoth pilot" according to this prop photo, it also appears in many other helmet prop exhibitions), so this is a nice little addition you can make to your squadrons. Just using Luke's original vintage helmet from 1999 (very cheap to find) and a pencil eraser to remove the centre stripe, behold, "Hoth pilot". No idea who he is, but can't argue with an easy-to-produce additional screen-used rebel flight helmet that matches the blue logo ones nicely. Will take an updated group photo of all the pilots once my Firestar ones arrive.
-
Glad I got mine in... hefty prices, though I'm sure they took a lot of work. Now just need more snow speeder pilot legs, found a couple of cheap torsos, but couldn't find a seller with more than one set of legs locally yet (and damnit Firestar Toys usually always had them... until I need them haha!).
-
I guess... I don't bother with the tiny details myself, I don't notice them, but if you're a stickler for accuracy, then my preferred route is always a pencil eraser. Never seems to damage the shine of the plastic, usually gone in 2 minutes.
