Amorith runs down to the marketplace before he goes off on his quest. He goes up to the blacksmith and sells his fang dagger for 25 gold 204+25=229 He also upgrades his dual staff to WP 8. 229-70-80=79 Then he walks up to Portia's and buys 3 nostrums for 60 gold leaving him with 19 gold. He sells one of his elixirs for 20 gold and then buys 3 meads leaving him with 9 gold for another day.

Well, for the longest time I lived as a hermit in Waldurk forest, the orcish wars came and went and little really changed. Until recently I realised that I wanted to see more of the world, I wanted an adventure. So I came here to offer my services as a mage to the people of Eubric. Amorith calls over to Boomingham, "Say, weren't you going to split the gold we gained from the gold ore?"

"Sure" Looking over at his friend Amorith realised how little he actually knew about him. "How did you come to Heroica?"

Amorith walks back into the hall, though he had spent little time there it still felt like home. Eager for another quest he looks to the questboard and signs up for Quest #21 Family history. Then he walks up to the bar and sits down at an empty table.

K-nut, you are no longer the only mage with a diamond. Also couldn't you extinguish fire in other ways, like using your sapphire to hold the air away from the fire and suffocate it? That seems to me like it would take less ether that moving all of that water.

I will also spend 150 gold to turn my uncut gems into true gems. Amorith steps onto the boat with Boomingham.

I will continue my attack. Benji, I think that you should use a remedy on Boomingham, he doesn't look to good. I would do it but I do double damage and I have consumed a mead.

OOC: I don't have a nostrum, I had it in the ice commander battle. I was suggesting that Heinike take a mead and a nostrum while I would only take a mead. Anyway, this round I will attack the Elemental beast from the back row with fire magic.

I was off by half. Still, the point remains that it is the rarest gem, also Althior is the only mage to have one.

I agree in that an amethyst would probably be the most useful and therefore the best to start with I said Diamond because they are so rare. I believe that there are only two in existence in heroica at the moment, the one in Cronks sword and Althior's. Zepher has had some diamonds as drops but that was the chaos beast that fled.

I will drink a mead from the back row in the first round, I suggest that because Heinike cannot attack in the first three rounds uses the time to take a mead and a nostrum.

OOC: I would like the gold ore but I am sure all of us do. Over the course of the quest we have received: Amorith: Elixir, Nostrum, Remedy, 4 gold, dual staff (WP: 6), 4 tonics, ice bomb, unknown potion (+1 power), Boomingham: Nostrum, 2 potions, pickaxe, grand potion, 5 gold, 2 holy bombs, phoenix essence. Frozen saber (WP:9 causes stunned effect) Benji: 2 Remedies, mead, 4 gold, 2 potions, ice bomb, phoenix essence, potion It looks to me like Boomingham has had the most loot and I have had slightly more that Benji. I say Amorith gets the tonic and the elixir, Boomingham gets the potion and Benji gets the gold ore. Amorith looks at the ore with a glint in his eye but he knew that he was unlikely to get it.

After playing the game for a while and seeing which gems are rarer or more useful I think that a diamond would be the best gem to start with. It is interesting that no mage has chosen to start with one yet.

Peppermint, you will be fine to attack, it clearly states that this is a Demom rather than a Demon.

Beautiful model, I love the pillars with the half stud offset but I agree that the water is not as good as the rest of it. Maybe Derfel Cardan's water technique from his guide would be good?
