What are your favorite LEGO Star Wars sets from 2016?
Ellisss_2 replied to jdm44's topic in LEGO Star Wars
6. Battle on Scariff - This set looks good includes some decent minifigures, but does not justify the £54.99 price tag in my opinion. 5. Tie Striker - I like the look of the ship, it is very unique compared to other tie varients. I love the little touches of blue also. 4. Carbon Freezing Chamber - Awesome for the minifigures. Definitely the best way to obtain Boba Fett. The price is amazing at only £19.99. 3. Krennic's Imperial Shuttle - Great looking ship with a good deal of space inside. Nice inclusion of K-2SO 2. Rebel U-Wing - My favourite ship in Rogue One. TLG have captured the shape well, and included some play features. 1. Death Star - Depsite burning a hole in your wallet this is definitely a playset worthy of bearing the UCS tag, unlike the widely hated Assault on Hoth. This set provides excellent minifigures and play features. -

This is epic, you have got off to a good start this year! You have captured the proportions and shape excellently. I like the little touches of lime green too. Kind regards, Ellis.
-
It bothers me also! The amount of Star Wars sets TLG produce, you would think they would design an accurate cockpit, but clearly not! I will probably have a go at designing a cockpit like the one in this thread: Kind regards, Ellis.
-
I would agree 100% with your points. I think for the wings, I am going to mix light gray and dark gray.
-
Thank you! Regaring the area around the cockpit, I will see what I can do. Kind regards, Ellis.

Update #3: Hello, guys! I have shortened the fuselage to improve the proportions of the model and make the troop bay seem chunkier. However, this meant I had to sacrifice room on the interior, but you can still fit around 8 minifigures in. The first image is the longer fuselage of the previous version and the second is the shortened down version I have just completed. Thank you for reading, Kind regards, Ellis.

Thank you! Yes I do think the ship might be a bit slim. I am going to wait until I get that visual guide before I progress any further. Kind regards, Ellis.

@strider117 Thank you! @VaderFan2187 Yes, those curved technic beams look like they would work well!
-
Glad you like it so far. I am definitely going to pick up one of those Visual Guides, I had The Force Awakens visual guide and I was pretty impressed with that. It will be useful for constructing this project and my UCS U-wing. Kind regards, Ellis.
-
Thank you! Any ideas for it?
-
I love this, especially slope detailing with the rocks. Great use of snot too! Kind regards, Ellis.

I currently do not have a picture with the wings open, I will try get one. I will work on the back of the engines. kind regards, Ellis.
-
Ok, thank you, it is a lot clearer now! I will see what I can do. Kind regards, Ellis.
-
Ok, thank you! Could you explain to me what needs to be done to get the front more accurate. Kind regards, Ellis.
-
@krisandkris12 @legoSWfan Look better?
-
Ok! I'm on it
-
@legoSWfan @Kit Bricksto Here are the engines! Took me a little longer than expected because I had to construct each engine individually as they are all unique. I hope these look good, enjoy! Kind regards, Ellis.
-
Obviously not now, I have found a way around it. Nearly got the new engines done, give me an hour, two hours tops. Kind regards, Ellis.
-
@Kit Bricksto Thank you for your help. I am searching for methods to structurally improve the wing mount, but I am struggling. I believe I am going to build my Venator in bricks first, as I can't progress any further with it in LDD at the moment, then probably this. @legoSWfan Ok, the only problem is that the wings cannot fold back because of the engine size, I would have to mount the engines a brick higher/lower. Kind regards, Ellis.
-
@legoSWfan I have tried the larger engines, and they are definitely too large, would you agree? Sorry for the messy floor. I think I will maybe have to try some other methods for engines. Kind regards, Ellis.
-
@legoSWfan Hello, I have made a small update on the engines. I'm studying those x-wing engines from that thread you gave me to get them on my model. I need to stick to one project I have 3 on the go. Kind regards, Ellis.

Welcome, all! I have decided to create a UCS Imperial Cargo Shuttle after seeing the film many times! Although the ship is not aesthetically pleasing in my opinion, it serves a great purpose in Rogue One as I am sure you are all aware. After all the film is named after the ships' "call sign". So far I have created the lower deck/cargo bay, which is used to house Rebel troopers in the movie. Also, does anyone else get a turtle vibe from the cockpit area? The cargo shuttle reminds of the First Order transport, just with foldable wings slapped on the top. The cargo bay will be permanently fixed to the upper deck and wings as we do not see the cargo bay being detachable in the stolen imperial shuttle used by Jyn and Cassian, and I want to get the shuttle pretty accurate. The lower deck will be completely comprised of SNOT and Greebling on the top for a contrast. However it may be I went around on the Star Wars Battlefront Rogue One DLC taking screenshots of the ship, hopefully, the digitalised ship is accurate. Please give your ideas and improvements for the MOC, before I progress any further so I can implement them! Thank you for reading, Kind regards Ellis.
