  1. seriously, folks reading your posts makes me wonder if there are only girlfriends/wifes with hatred on LEGO My girlfriend just chased me away from my boxes in order to try out a new sorting system she's come up with - will take me half a month to learn but afterwards always increases my building process ot: This is coming along lovely! And quite impressive with the stern galleries. Do you already have a plan for how to construct the mizzen mast?
  2. It would be most helpful if you could use some punctuation from time to time. I find it difficult to follow this discussion and it really seems to be interesting...
  3. good lord, low budget, huh? My low budget would make me do micro-scale ships I like the colours and the attention to accuracy! Does it have any interior?
  4. I hope to see more of the brick built hull of the pirate ship! It's a very dynamic scene, well done! I especially like the technique used for the fire coming from the cannon of the pirate sloop.
  5. Thank you all for your kind replies! I am trying to improve my building-style for land-based MOCs at the moment and it seems to pay off I know what you mean. I am trying to build some other "every-day pirate" MOCs and this was one of the first things that came to my mind apart from things like smitheries and prisons... thanks. The lamp design is actually used quite commonly amongst the classic-pirate members and I have not invented this. But I don't know who came up with it first... Do it! All times are good for building pirate MOCs
  6. [pid][/pid]213A Good day to you folks! You did receive a broadside over your weather deck or encountered a nasty tropical storm but there is no ship yard in your vicinity? Don't worry, "Ye ol' Sail Patcher" is much nearer - in the next small settlement or colony! Comments and criticism appreciated, as always! 7. No worries! I think I might have written that a bit too mistakable. What I did try to desribe is that the tumblehome would not be that extreme that a gundeck would start completely "behind" another deck in terms of the recoiling force vector... actually I'm pretty curious no what I was thinking when I wrote that bit - seems pretty messed up now. I shall rephrase it. As for the gunports: I think I'll remove that picture - it is meant as a guideline not as a rule as stated in the text - but seems to jump at people and tackle their attention... I am sorry if I have seem negligent. Sometimes it is quite difficult to write those things in English in an accurate manner and in my spare time. I will start revising all my tutorials, a thing I wanted to do for some time, anyway... they will be up again at some stage.
  8. yes, seconded as well! But you know that you can order individual pieces on Bricklink as well, don't you? Because if you want to make MOCs it might be a cheaper and better investment to directly order certain bricks you want to use in a MOC rather than buying complete sets (that apart from the BSB, this grand old lady that is a must-buy )
  9. My my, that's quite an honour - an honour well deserved three huzzahs for Big Cam huzzah! huzzah! huzzah!

I want one, were can I place my order? This is friggin' awesome! It looks like a dreadnought with serious attitude. And he's also a pirate builder - we are everywheeeeere
  11. Wonderful water! The sand is also very carefully designed, I like that. There's not much to say about the building itself apart from that it's perfrect - an original technique used for the curve and very cool shutters
  12. Thank you all very much! That's one free order of rum for all of you
  13. You mean the building technique used to illustrate the vessel's hull? That might be because it was never intended to build a complete ship - I've just devised it to be able to properly illustrate the curving of a hull for my tutorials - and this tutorial is about historical accuracy, not building techniques - there are far better suited MOCers around here to show good techniques for the actual building process
  14. Thank you very much! And Captain Redbeard should beware - the last pirate trying to raid the place ended up as the scare crow
  15. [pid][/pid]212B And here I was, looking for some rum for my ship - but as it turns out no one here has made a classic pirates distillery, yet! But all the rum must come from somewhere, right? So this is my small "Scurvy Dog Distillery" (psst, ship yard members get special prices) Comments and criticism would be appreciated, as always! 16. And Walt starts delivering! Great find! An elegant design, amazingly round! and a very real wave - I hope the creator joins!
  17. That nails it - I don't know whether I should find this to be an act of sheer crazyness, something completeley amazing or something to adore unconditionally - I think I'll go with all three options.
  18. Pirate section reporting in and being absolutely amazed Great one, That could lead to a new trend. If this MOD is combined with Sebeus Iniwum's automated gunport opening technique there should be no stopping those vessels!
  19. Is your MOC Expert tag a new one? If so, congratulations - you deserve it!

  20. Congratulations! That's a great choice. I'm looking forward to read your articles! And stay away from the rum.
  21. The word "simply" has no business in that thread - I absolutely adore every single bit of this piece of art - from the water (the best LEGO version of water I've seen so far - great choice of colours) to the two stunning ships (yeah - sure, why build one gorgeous ship MOC when you can build TWO!) to the wonderful MOC dinghy and did I mention the great photography? please don't! If you two make a pirate display together I'd just have to steal it and whisper "my precious" all the time - that would not be good.
  22. Congratulations! Is this new challenge a reassignment or may we keep him in the Pirates section as well?
  23. You seem to blend in nicely! Welcome to Eurobricks and enjoy your stay and the lovely community. And have a look at the pirates section from time to time - we build ships as well
  24. This is quite a MOC you have made there, Sir! I really like the city and all the details in it. I find the non-linear allignment of the houses to be especially appealing. The only thing I'd add would be a little variation on the shore battery - maybe different variations of grey, a crack here and there - but it's a brilliant MOC - I can smell that this is going to be blogged.
  25. Again, thank you! I understand what you mean and I hope that I have included your additions to your liking. I also added some bits and pieces and the third part that may be expanded if you want more information on other locations. I hope you find this tutorial as helpful as the rest of my work
