The bag tags are such a neat idea- they function as perfect peer to peer gifts for both boys and girls. The key feature Lego has added to this wave of dots is pretty neat as well.

Lego City 2021 Rumours, information and discussion
Gobias1234 replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
Yes! That is a really interesting point- would be neat to see what these structures look like elsewhere. Our city is relatively small but culturally inclined to biking so our bike infrastructure is quite built up. Ours are both public art and work out devices- a neat vanity project done by a local firm that specializes in architecturally interesting bridges. They are a striking red with bold angles. My children adore falling off of them in increasingly scary ways! These new road plates are likely to become a bike path from City to Green space on our table scape until we build up a supply of them. I'm so excited for the new year! -

The shopping street is great and will be a quick purchase for my fam- we are both obsessed with pretzels and avid bikers! -
Eek! The scarf!!

That hermit crab is so cute! Hermit crabs were such a big deal when I was younger! Told my kids that we would never get one as a pet but they will totally get the Lego version!

Disney Princesses 2020 - Rumors & Discussion
Gobias1234 replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
I agree with everything you said! I think the issue with Bruni as a brick built character is that his appeal in the movie is that he is small and cute. Though well done, it feels like a miscalculation to include him as a large, stand alone brick built figure exclusively. to My daughter actually expressed excitement to see him in Lego form and what she meant was as a companion to her mini dolls and mini figs. -
I agree- these are simple builds but I think the accessories/pieces/prints make up for that for other more established Lego fans. Just watching my daughter as a builder- she LOVES new parts, new accessories, new ANIMALS etc to add to her builds. These cubes are her bread and butter, tbh. She can spend her allowance and get new little treasures to add to her world. I haven't shown them to her but I can already hear the squeal! My son really enjoys them too for what it is worth. He HAD to have a sloth so he got his own cube and frequently incorporates his sister's cube into his own play/builds. I really hope City adopts a similar line- I think they could function really well as parts packs/ impulse buys that aren't vehicles that could cover city buildings or themes that might not warrant their own larger set. There are a lot of possibilities different Museum or Library vignettes, Pet adoption, Wildlife Rehab, a themed food fair etc etc. All with named City characters or citizens with fun prints. Getting off topic, so I digress. : ) We skipped the summer cubes because they were kind of meh to my DD. I would love to see future cubes that maybe stepped away from the main friends and veered into other characters. Perhaps a line where one could create themselves in minidoll form?

I agree that Friends gets treated unfairly by a lot of builders! That cat car and little kitten are DARLING! The bright colors are so fun and the details of the Friend's building are once again so great!

I think these are great for their intended audience! A lot of potential for little city builders out there! My personal favorites are the subtle Ninjago tie ins with both the DoJo and Modern Family house and the inclusion of differently abled city residents in multiple sets! Well done, Lego! -
This was the nudge I needed to order them! I dont have an IKEA locally and was holding out until traveling was a responsible thing again but these look like such a fun winter build/challenge. Thanks for sharing!

Disney Princesses 2020 - Rumors & Discussion
Gobias1234 replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
OY! with Ariel and Cinderella again...and again and again and again. They must be continually the best sellers but I wish they would just keep the boat or the carriage evergreen instead of remaking them all of the time. I have a theory they sell so well because they are an uncle panic gift! It just feels like that creative energy could be channeled elsewhere to more interesting princess vignettes. -

I agree- My kiddo was stoked to get his first Duke Detain- much like his older sister was ecstatic to get her first Emmett. Now we have 97 Emmetts and he no longer as special. From a kid perspective as well as an adult's there is risk in never innovating. -

I'm really excited to see what the house looks like! I keep thinking about buying older creator 3-1s but can't bring myself to it yet! -
I agree! I especially like the idea of a park if it has lots of detail and the animal cubes are exciting. The cubes have been a slam dunk in this house.

LEGO City 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion

I love that- what is the name of your town? We have plans for a rectangular Lego layout table once it is safe to purchase two more Trofast storage units. We have to travel to get to an IKEA so that is on hold. This weekend I think my husband is going to draw up a plan to at least build the top over the Trofast we already have with temporary legs so that Lego builds have somewhere to go (and no longer take up every available surface in this house) Until this is fully built, our town is made up of "districts" that live on various selves. What are you doing for your table? How do you store your Lego for your kids? Our current town is Animal Train Town- bet you can tell what my children's main interests are : ) My daughter and I are much more detail and interior focused MOCers and my husband is the structure/exterior MOCer. My son seems to be developing an eye for both! My kids are 7 and 4 so we are still straddling the Duplo to regular system transition. Currently, we are building a large Duplo indoor playhouse before we pack it all away. Anyway, all of that is to say, most of our buildings are from sets, Friends and Creator with kid builds mixed in. Our town is minidoll and minifig inclusive. We currently have a Dragon and Dino district that was destroyed by a tantruming nephew- that is where our Elves buildings live (I Miss this theme- best buildings in the game.) Connected to that is usually Fawn Park- a park where most of the animals live. My daughter's favorite mammal is a deer so the new deer print is going to knock her socks off! We built a theme park out of Friend's carnival sets and Toy Story sets that won't win any design cred, but my kiddos are thrilled with which is all that matters. We are having a "yes" weekend next weekend because our kids miss their friends, didn't get a vacation and will be home schooled in the Fall. So, I think we are going to buy them the Passenger Train to anchor the larger town layout the bigger table will allow us to have as well as the Friend's Waterpark to fill out the theme park area- it is hard to balance our love of Lego with raising entitled Lego monsters. These large sets are not the norm here so I think it will be a treat that hopefully makes them smile! As far as MOCS- I'm currently working on a Library because much of our pre pandemic lives centered around Library programming so our layout residents need one too! Again, it isn't pretty from the outside because as my daughter says "Mom is an Ellie V, not a Jangbricks builder," :) but full of little details that make us smile and have play value for my kids. The Librarian is a ninja which is a pretty rad touch! Anyway, back to City specifically- since my kids are getting bigger ticket sets next weekend *maybe* 60271 is a set we'd consider for the holidays but eek, that price point is still a lot since they already are already dreaming of smaller sets too! As far as vehicles, my son went through a phase of sleeping with the iconic Pizza van and nothing vintage or new can probably top that! Edit: 60257 is on sale so I'm debating prebuying it for Christmas- love the VW van and Electric car. -

Gobias1234 replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
Bringing some Mom commentary- 60271 is absolutely a set that my kids are both going to want, we are working on a family layout that would benefit greatly from these buildings and my son in particular is very into the show. In short, we are absolutely the target demographic but that price is such a barrier! -

HARD agree! *AND* an otter?! Would be falling over myself to buy. -
The new Aurora set appears to come with a fawn/deer with new face printing. I know a lot of people are purists and don't mix animals but I think the new printing looks so much better and true to what a young deer looks like! Much more doe like. Edit- this might be new to only me. I can't quite tell but I think it may have come with a Snow White Set previously. The fawn we have in our collection has blue eyes.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 20. Rumors and discussion
Gobias1234 replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I totally agree that they are pricing themselves out of the impulse buy market. In general, under 10 dollars is what I consider impulse buy territory but the price creep on minifigs is making them unreasonable for the general population. Said the Mom that spent more to buy the ones I/ my kids wanted of Bricklink and just quarantined them for a week or so before I gave them to my kids. But that is only because I'm a more engaged Lego fan than a lot of parents. I'd be annoyed to spend that amount of money and get something my kid was disappointed in. In general, I think blind bag culture is making our children entitled, chronologically disappointed little monsters so we just don't engage with it as much as we can beyond the occasional small treat. -
This is so great!

What about Monkie Kid? Listen, I'm no expert but based on how quickly Lego clamped down on Monkie Kid leaks and the content they generated I wouldn't be surprised to learn a Monkie Kid movie is in early stages of development.
