Just saw they selected this! I am very surprised but this is awesome. Shouldn't be too hard to incorporate into a town. I guess I will keep supporting the high piece count modular style buildings when submitted. Thought this would have been too elaborate for an official set.
Nice looking town! I especially like your blue apartment MOC. It is amazing how much better the apartment buildings from the Pet Shop look with white picket fences out front instead of the black, I may have to steal that idea :)
As someone who has only been building as an adult for a few months I really admire some of the build techniques employed here. The curved rear facade for one.
I agree. I just built a 16 wide 3 storey MOC Ghostbusters HQ for this reason, so it could fit into my town interchangeably. If this new set is larger I could see it being 48x32, although I would be really surprised if it is not on a 32x32 footprint.
Thanks! I have a couple of vehicles (Ecto 1, Vacation getaways motorhome, Simpsons cars) but with limited space I really want to focus on buildings mostly. I have started another block. So far I have a WIP Ghostbusters HQ MOC and just yesterday just grabbed a ton of sand green from a PAB wall. After Oct 1 I will be ordering a bunch more bricks and windows when it is 2x VIP points and the free advent calendar :)
Thanks for the nice comments. SalvoBrick I have referenced your town pics many times. I really like your building style.
deraven, yes I did take 2 corner delis plus more parts from PAB and BAP to make one building. The building to the right of that is made from 2 pencil pots and 2 toy and grocery stores plus extra parts. The yellow far right one started as a beach hut plus a ton of yellow 1x6 from a PAB wall and a bunch of online parts. The rest are entirely MOCs.
I would like to add a harbour as I have the Arctic and Deep Sea ships. I see many towns with large blue baseplates, where does everyone get those? Are they older pieces?
Hello,
I have got back into Lego within the past year after an almost 30 year break. I started with a few City sets but then discovered the modulars. After building all the current ones and then modifying a second Pet Shop I was hooked! Now I have started building a town of 16 wide modulars due to limited space. Every floor of each building is removable and there are basic interiors in most floors so far. I have been lurking here for a few months to help with building ideas. This is a WIP and I really enjoy building. I would appreciate any feedback ideas.
