Nice one. I'll be cracking mine open on Sunday after my kids give it to me for Father's Day. Very generous children. I don't think the numbers being supplied by Toyworld are huge. It isn't being sold through their online store; our local might be getting one or two (even they haven't had their allotment confirmed yet); and even the bigger stores got 10 or less. Mighty Ape apparently presold some, but they've all gone now. Would be nice if the resale price came down for those who missed out, but I think $350 might be a little hopeful.

A word of warning for relative newcomers to Technic: The above statements are lies. Lies I say! Nah. Kidding. It's an awesome model - especially given the limitations of using only the 42000 pieces (yes, zux, all you need is in the set) - but is also quite a challenging exercise to create from the pics for the less experienced (or just plain useless) builder. I must've spent about 15 hours on it all up. Still not too sure about a few obscured sections like the front mount for the engine or the area where the door hinges and side bracing meet. However, lessons were learnt and much enjoyment had. Kudos to Mr Kuipers.

And one has gone already..

It may take a while, but I reckon they'll sell eventually. BL miniumum prices are $600 and climbing, so the TM ones are competitive. Yes, it's quite a bit of coin, but nothing like dropping $7k on a Millenium Falcon.

New 6 hole rims at 42000 and 9398
Fatteh replied to rm8's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
A few people in various threads have posted pictures of 3rd party tyres on the new rims and said that they work well. -
Good to hear Doc. My copy turned up yesterday. Between ordering and receiving, it more than doubled in value. Not that this little piggie is going to market. I'll have to wait for my birthday next month to find out the plate number. Hoo haa.

I think Lego NZ acts as a receiver for the freight forwarder that Lego uses internationally. The local Lego outfit is hence the importer and collects the shipments, pays any duties and taxes outstanding and then couriers the sets to their NZ destination. You are effectively buying from a local company, so big orders should be free of any additional charges.

I don't understand this. There are no end of videos of these crawlers being driven over all sorts of things. No, they haven't got a patch on real RC ones, but if your Lego crawlers only work on the flat perhaps there is something wrong with them?
-
Couple of NZ resellers have listed the 41999 on TM. Starting at $650. Edit: I have a MISB 9398 crawler going cheap if anyone is interested.

You chose this particular forum to complain about people getting the opportunity to purchase this set for less than the $US500 you're asking in your BL store for each of the 4 copies you picked up? Really?

Shipping finally confirmed. Praise be. I think you were right about an "in process" shipping status being a good sign, Alternator. Looks like some people are seeing their backordered sets returned to "customer service" and facing cancellation. What a shabby mess. The last parts I needed for Jurgen's ultimate 8043 turned up as well. Whoop.

Meh. Nearly two weeks has passed now since placing an order for this set as soon as it went live. Have received one automated email saying my set is on backorder and one (very polite) response from customer service saying I might get one, or I might not. Order status is stuck "in process", while I read posts on Lego reseller forums from people boasting about getting 20-odd sets. Not the best online shopping experience I've had.

The availability of 41999 on the NZ S@H page has changed to "available now" again.

I think some have had their orders shipped, but I'm in the same boat as you. There's an NZ specific thread over here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=26231&st=4100 Interesting. I thought this set was exclusive to Lego outlets.

Yes, I have done so and received the same 'maybe' response that others here have. My point was that Kim's explanation seems to imply that 3,000 sets have been placed on backorder because the other 17,000 have been sold. If they haven't all been sold, then why would they need to backorder those particular 3,000? They could just send some of the other remaining stock. If they haven't yet packaged all 20,000 sets, why blame the delay on damaged boxes instead of just saying all the stock hasn't been packed yet? A straight explanation instead of hints from the LA forum would be nice.
-
Can we presume from this that 41999 has sold out? Is there a chance that people with sets on backorder will have their order cancelled? More information would be very much appreciated, please.
-
Bah. Partial shipment, 41999 still on backorder for me. Oh well. That'll be the cheapest XL motor I'll ever get from Europe.
-
Good to know. Thanks Blakbird. Pretty sure those aren't the tires in your photos on the first page though.

Very nice. Aren't those tires Interco IROKs though? I presume they look and work fine when seated in the outside bead and don't require modifying the new 41999 rims?

I second this. Would it be so difficult to send an email explaining the situation to buyers?

Anyone received confirmation of delivery of their 41999 yet? My status is still "backordered", but I did receive the following update: Thank you for ordering from shop.LEGO.com. Unfortunately, the item(s) listed below are currently out of stock and it will be a little longer before we can ship them to you. If you made your payment via credit card, please note that while we will authorize your card shortly. It will not be charged until your item(s) ship(s). You will receive an email notification at that time. There is hope after all.
