  1. As Zblj mention it, you can use PF IR Receiver (8884) with PF Extension Wire (8886) to which you can connect the micro motors. One IR receiver can run 2 independent motors (2 channels). The motors can be than commanded by PF IR Remote control (8885). The down side of this is, that you cannot program the IR remote/receiver. If you wan to complicate things, you can use old RCX as the RC remote. Bob Kojima wrote a program that does that. It works but you need a good programing skills to tailor it to your needs. Alternative is to use RCX or NXT (the latter with appropriate cables) and you have programmable solution.
  2. @pingles. I somewhat understand you. I am a technic fan and I found that our youngest (now 3 years old) is enjoying large machines also. From time to time he lost a brick or two but we usually managed to find those. If not, there is always BL. And this love goes the other way around also. I have made used the little fellow as an excuse to purchase a lot of train sets. SO of course he is allowed to play with them. I had a lot of Emerald Night accidents, we managed also to drive the 7939 loco of the table. Yes, it hurts a bit seeing a bunch of overpriced plastic lying on the floor but the time together is worth quite a bit more. And remember, if you daughter destroys a train or two, that is a perfect excuse for buying a new one (or two or three).
  3. I very much like his classic car. I have tried to copy it for my little pleasures but I got stocked. Out of pure frustration I forget about his creations and now you are pulling me back. Arrrgggh!! My frustration aside, these are very inspirational ideas! Thanks a bunch! BTW: this set is very nice for me, it allows a lot of possibilities. I tend to combine the styles and bricks with PF motorized base of models 8183/8184.
  4. I was wondering where you are hiding. It's huge, if I see correctly over 55 cm in length. Is there any hidden purpose for usage of pneumatic suspension? I am thinking about lowrider and possible PF remote control. This would be really crazy, especially with elevating bodywork. Great work.
  5. Just saw it on YouTube. Looks very nice and elegant, like all your creations.
  6. Is this Lego Antikythera mechanism approach?
  7. @davidmull: I think the box size is the same. TB has size for 8043, which is 90x575x475mm, quite close to the numbers on those scanned pages. Unimog has less PF functions as 8043. I think this is good since some of Technic AFOLs are not quite into PF. And others love the full PF like 8275 and 8043. What do you think about number of the parts? It doesn't seem to large. Is this the end of large sets like 8427, 8285 or 8258? @Zblj: Will you buy any of the sets or will you just wait for Lego to send you a nice Christmas package? I am still upset because on last Saturday I had to shovel the snow instead of visiting you. I hate this global warming.
  8. Well, what about new Space Shuttle? I would like to see a new one and the timing would be perfect since the real-stuff is getting phased out. And it would look great next to old one.
  9. I've cracked one or two of these old 16t gears. But I don't remember on which occasion this appeared, maybe in 8868. The old design was not very sturdy for my taste. But since old and new design are compatible, I don't see any damage being done.
  10. Sorry, I was away and then I tried to get our youngest to fall asleep. Why the kids sense that daddy is about to build something out of bricks and they don't want to sleep at all. But we are in contact now. Regards teflon
  11. Gosh, would be nice to have a non-toy for a flagship but I am sure this will not happen anywhere soon. But I am wondering what is Andrew building now. The only downside is that it takes him quite a lot time to build such a great things. I think this creation is also very inspirational. I am always thinking about creating some nice little scientific instruments. I guess I have to go back to the drawing board to get some of this ideas out of my head.
  12. This is quite amazing. I am impressed by using differential gears to get odd ratios like 5/19th. I haven't seen something like that. And there is a history touch (like Babbage's differential engine), which is great for my taste. The only down side for me is that I cannot recreate this without some better blueprints. Did the Greeks used LDraw or LDD 0.09alpha1?
  13. @Cwetqo. I am also excited about the TS3 train. Have you used M motor or train motor for your MOD? It seems that Eric' MOD can "survive" up to speed of 3 with PF train motor. Or perhaps you are using rechargeable battery. Thanks in advance for the answer. I would really like to have that train with motor.
  14. I have used the train motor. I need a bit more building skills to be able to use the M motor. I've also used the AAA battery box.
  15. Yesss!! I'll bring beer (probably lots of it since there is going to be lots of sets)!
  16. Thanks for the encouragement. I agree that rounded bricks might do a better job, however I just have those slopes handy. I try to learn better loco-shaping techniques. And this are the reason why I needed a working locomotive right away: video 1 and video 2.
  17. Congratulations, well done!! But on the devilish side - since I live almost close to you, I can offer you my assistance in helping you to build up all those wonderful sets. Feel free to ask Brez zamere, bravo še enkrat!
  18. I am a follower of this forum for quite some time, however I was more on the reading side. This year I get into trains (my mainly interest is still technic). However since we just entered the happy December, I guess it is time to show some creations. Let's start with something small - a small holiday steam locomotive made for running short trains around our Christmas tree. Emerald Night is nice and elegant but a bit on the large & heavy side. Not to mention that you need to drag a battery box in the tender. I had to do something smaller, therefore I present you a small steam locomotive ready to push around the holiday train. Please note that I have found a large inspiration from Jason Steinhurst (Jayhurst). The length of the undercarriage is 16 studs, the whole length is around 20 studs. The loco measures 6-7 studs in width with maximum width of 10 studs. It is fuly equiped with PF (battery box, IR receiver and motor). It is very fast so I am quite careful around corners. A bit more pictures can be found here. I hope you like my creation.
