  1. I tried to build the Uplink Speeder. I had a lot of trouble, and it was pretty unstable.
  2. It's a really weird set. I've almost got one, but I'd really appreciate closer pictures. I want to build it...
  3. Damn you. I wanted to be the first to post pics of that. I guess I'll just have to post pics of one made with TWO Dark Fortresses! >:-)
  4. Those would be from the Hydronauts. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp...colorID=20&in=S MOOSE...
  5. I dunno. I buy the six-wheeler homage, but I don't really see the Ice Planet in that newer one.
  6. Lovely box-art for a mediocre set. Great work, TLG. Lego Christina Ricci. That's just weird. Topgun visors?
  7. The Gorilla-printed torso is amazing. As is Racer X. He's the new Blacktron, I think.
  8. enjoy. http://www.collider.com/entertainment/news...aid=6784&tcid=1 Direct links: http://www.collider.com/uploads/imageGalle...rand_prix_l.jpg http://www.collider.com/uploads/imageGalle...d_racer_x_l.jpg http://www.collider.com/uploads/imageGalle..._togokahn_l.jpg http://www.collider.com/uploads/imageGalle...ake_oiler_l.jpg
  9. You know what would be awesome? Build the Message Intercept Base out of white and trans-blue.
  10. one cent for the smallest of the arctic alpha team sets. in a store. yes. :-/
  11. *bangs the gong slowly* I hope it sells well enough to be profitable, but not well enough for another wave. Unless that wave is good and bad guy headquarters. at least the robo-animals look fun...
  12. Heck yes.
  13. I've used custom to mean that the base model is an official Lego one, only slightly modified - like if you have an Armored Drilling Unit with more spikes, it's a Custom rather than a(n) MOC.
  14. I didn't know it was ever released.
  15. I paid $70 Canadian plus shipping on eBay. For comparison purposes, that's less than the Dwarves Mine or TIE Crawler go for right now in stores.
  16. Looking forward to more of this. :)
  17. Awesome set, and I dig the pictures. I love the Guard minifigs... and I have to add a warning. This set is EXPENSIVE on the secondary market. I wonder, though - weren't there other chromed pieces in other Orient Expedition sets? What was the intended storyline? (I've since folded it into my Avatar continuity. Yum. )
  18. I'm pretty sure I've read that it will be a mass release in 2008. |-/
  19. Everyone should stay away from BZPower unless they have up-to-date anti-virus and firewall. I nearly got a trojan on their forum last night.
  20. I think my favourite of these is the 7646. I don't dig tanks, and the gunship is way too heavily armed. That being said, the little mech is lovely.
  21. I don't recall mine having an alignment problem on the tubes... could you perhaps take a closer picture of the area? Did yours also have two of the same sticker for the wings of the alien craft?
  22. That was the point. :-D
  23. Yeah, Avatar doesn't really lend itself well to playsets. I'm trying, but I can't think of too many that would make decent sets. Going episode-by-episode, I *could* see maybe one or two of these... Really, I just want official Toph and Iroh figures. - Aang meets King Bumi - Fire Temple - Pirate Ship - Water Tribe Village - Earthbending Tournament - Day of Black Sun Fire Nation Assault - Western Air Temple
  24. There was a third set prototyped: a fire nation tank. That being said, Avatar is a wonderful TV show, evidently lavished with care by *everyone* involved with it - except the people in charge of marketing. :( And really, who didn't dig the Fire Nation ship?
  25. It's not like Lego *wants* people to have a hard time buying their product. In North America, it is often that stores want something exclusive to draw people in - and if Lego refuses the demand of, say, Wal-Mart, then Wal-Mart might not buy as much Lego, and no one would like that. (The oldest one I can remember is the 1593 combo, but I'm sure there are older ones. ) 1 - my feelings: sucks for me, but corporate machinations are what they are. 2 - neither trendy nor regrettable: a necessity. 3 - TRU Exclusives are the only ones I've ever seen at retail (plus the TIE Crawler and the Dwarves Mine, oddly). I'm in Canada. That being said, they're awesome. I heartily dig the Supernova and Republic Cruiser, and the Armored Drilling Unit is *hot*. That being said, I feel bad for them when the exclusives are just old sets wrapped together. Because less people buy them. 4 - Good! Shows that people want them. (and on a side note, I picked up *all* my Vikings in March of this year, at a 40% off discount, from TRU - so I doubt they're all that hard to find. Catwoman Pursuit, I think I *still see*. ) As for side effects - yep. That's what comes from an inherently materialistic hobby like this one. :-P
