Heroica RPG - Quest #49: The Light That Reveals Everything
Scorpiox replied to Etzel's topic in The Heroica Archive
Haldor rubbed his head. "Ow... but it looks like I arrived just on-time. Good work on rooting out the bastard, Cronk." The nord steadied himself against a wall. "Sorry, where are my manners? Maybe something did happen to my head after all, or is it just a side-effect of the wine? I thank you for your hospitality here, Priestess, and I'm glad that we managed to sort out this grisly mess before Jorke could do any more harm. It is just sad that this had to happen at all, and I guess we'll never know why he did it. I hope that all goes well in the Convent for many more years to come." Haldor bowed low, and turned to his comrades. "You two did really well, you solved this lot without any help from me. I realise that I've been little other than a liability this quest. But before we go, there is something that I'd like to do first. Is there any chance that we can visit the novices one last time?" -
Oh don't worry, Super-Haldor will soon be arriving to save the day!
-
In places, yes. But at least it looks as though the killer has finally been cornered!
-
Nah, in this situation it would be more likely that Haldor would just eat a random chicken leg that he finds on the floor, which later turns out to be the only mortal object capable of defeating the witch. And then he team-kills the whole party by accident.
-
Good thinking, CM, now go and fetch Haldor quickly, so this mess can all be over!
-
Hopefully so. I've got all of the information ready at my disposal, but no pictures. Shouldn't be too long before we're up and running.
-
Well then start asking more questions! Haldor has stormed off here, so it's up to you and Cronk to handle the brats novices, so we can move on. I REALLY want to be back in time for Quest #53, I mean really.
-
See, he's not angry, he's just reinforcing the area against mad crossbow shots! Just so long as the happenings can be posted up here, I'd love to know what is going down.

Heroica RPG - Quest #49: The Light That Reveals Everything

"Oh bloody hell! Can't anyone see that I'm trying to solve this?! Can't you all see?! Oh go on take your stupid bloody fears, see where that gets you! Why do I even care?" Haldor throws his hands up and turns away from the others. Filled with frustration and anger, his face a mask of rage, the shadow of something nasty on his face. The nord is flashed with an anger he has harldy felt before, and he cannot control himself as he swings for the bedpost and flips a table. Before anyone else can realise what has happened, Haldor is gone, leaving a trail of dirt in his wake. -

Haldor stepped forward. "Sira, what was your opinion of Mandric? Did you speak to him often? How 'close' would you say you were?" -

"You have a very perceptive mind, Cronk, I hadn't really read it like that before. So, to Sira it is then? From what others have been saying, Mandric seems to have been close to her; so his death could very much have been the result of an argument after he tried to get closer than she thought was right. And if you're right, and he was completely off his head, then it would hardly have been necessary for her to engage him at all." Haldor sighed and turned away. "We seem to be darting around all over the place." -

"Ever been drunk, Cronk? Trust me, drunks don't tend to think rationally. And the point I was actually making, is that is more likely to be someone such as Ansar if it after all, was just a a drink induced fight that went wrong. Also, logical as it would seem for Sira and the Priestess to come accross Mandric, I sincerely doubt that they would have been able to overcome him in a fight. Unless he was so drunk that his wits had gone and drafted out the window." -
Someone wants to show off their exclusive Elrond...

"In that case, Ansar looks to be a likely suspect. He strikes me as a fairly angry bloke who, when faced with a very drunk and armed Mandric, could have done many kinds of things. Helmer also, if only in self-defence. If Mandric was even half as drunk as we think he was, it wouldn't have taken much for him to get himself into a bad situation." -

"I think that we can rule out Mandrea being responsible at this point. From what we've garnered at this point, I doubt she would hurt a fly, let alone her own brother, who she seemed so close to. No, I can't she her having anything to do with at all, not even in a spur of the moment thing. So that is one name that we can cross off here." "Well, if Mandric wasn't expecting anything to happen, there is nothing to say that Ansar couldn't have wrestled control of the dagger before Mandric new what hit him. But you are right, we had better go and give him a wave, now that we've got hold of some more facts." -

Haldor shrugged. "You raise a good point there, Cronk. So it is likely that our killer isn't one who would be armed, unless that is, they thought the murder through so carefully to deliberately leave Mandric's dagger behind to make us consider a suicide. I don't know." "But I think it is unlikely that Sir Helmer would have killed Mandric, as I think that a Paladin like him, relying on a code of honour; would need far more provoking that just a petty quarrel to actually murder someone in cold blood. Or Jorke neither, he seems all for preserving life, I just can't imagine him going off taking it away, besides, he has no motive that we know of. Mats just seems apathetic to the whole affair, so I can garner that it probably isn't him either. So far, I'm considering the Priestess, Ansar, and maybe even an accident to be responsible for this." -
Haldor needs a T-shirt reading 'Watch out! I'm going to make everything worse if I can't help it!'.

2 by dr_spock - 1 point (I love the combination of parts here, plus the premise is really nice) 7 by Rumble Strike - 1 point (I've never seen a better use of that torso and the ski goggles) 17 by DarthNick - 1 point (Simple, but I love the head with that blue body, the colourscheme looks great)
-
Now why would you want to do that? Is this because he single-handedly wiped out the rest of the party, whilst trying to help them?
-
Typical Bluecoat, bullying and taking advantage of a poor citizen, for his own gluttonous needs too! You'll get your commuppance, son.

The 'History' section of the bios will contain any important information about origins if a race is particularly rare or focused in an area, for example, the Aoi's homeland. But obviously this will not go any further than usual habitats for the most common species like humans and elves. I think that a 'Notable Members' piece will also be nice for the rarest of creatures, so that it is possible to make clear links if thinking of using a race in terms of actions and personalities. While that may be, I think that the Embassy could still stand as a race-specific questions and answers topic, or at least serve another additional purpose. I'd like to make the most of Largh-múnd.

"Well, I can see how it might look that way, but in fact we only came here because, of delivering the letter, so there could very likely be another connection with Mandric's death. But thank you for putting up with us for these few days, Mats." Haldor stepped back for a moment to gather his thoughts, before away to again to speak to his comrades. "But what we musn't do is resign ourselves to expect a massive conspiricy or strategically planned murder, there is still the very real possiblity of an accidental death, in which case it might just be best to let it go. No matter what happened last night, punishing someone, maybe even with death, for something that wasn't their fault isn't my kind of justice. I'm just saying that we ought to keep it in mind, that's all, in the case that we don't manage to find anything conclusive in the next few hours." The nord then wheeled around to walk with Alexis the rest of the way to Sir Helmer, wherever he may be. -
The main issue with this, is as WBD says; there are two types of Werewolf/Werecreature, the original manbeast permanent form creatures, which will go in the Embassy, and the infected night-changing Lycanthropes, which will be only hinted at as they are not a species. So you are correct about that. Try Lord of the Rings, mate, it's even better. And it isn't going to be spoiled by unnecessary sequels. Okay everybody, since a few people seem to want it, should I be adding additional 'Lore' sections to the Embassy, and if so, what should they contain?
-
Be sure to expect the first few races up-and-running in a few days. EDIT: Woah, just noticed that this is my 2000th post here on Eurobricks. So this is what being a Duke feels like...
