I went to my local Sainsburys on Monday, and they had a good selection of all size Lego sets, but this morning only the smaller sets were on the shelves. Even the labels had gone.
Still, we picked up a load of the smaller City sets (the boats are very good at half price), and some Alien Conquest and Star Wars sets. Next time, I'm going in the day before and hiding a load of sets!
I'm happy with the PF being included with the sets, but I'd really like to see less of the flex tracks and more 'normal' track. I can't understand why TLG are pushing the flex track so much as it must cost so much more to produce than standard straight or curved track, and we need a hell of a lot of it to create any sort of useful length.
If I'm running the train, then it's at 3 or 4 (PF remote).
When the kids get hold of it though, they will run it as fast as it will go until it derails and I have to rebuild it.
I've found that letting the batteries run down a bit before they get hold of it means the maximum running speed is low enough for it to not derail as often.
I'm using normal AAAs as well, and they last long enough for 3 or 4 good sessions before they need changing. At about 80 pence for 4, I don't think that's too bad.
I like hoeijs idea of using 4 batteries to keep the speed down - it might stop my son crashing the train every chance he gets!
Like most people here, I've been into Lego since I was a kid, and always wanted the trains. Now my kids are old enough (well, almost!) I've got an excuse to buy as much Lego as I can.
So far it's the cargo train, a station and a load of extra track, and a few houses to make a small town. Hopefully, there'll be a lot more to come!
And in Austria there is a town called Fuc*ing...
Seriously, ZueriHB, 10/10 for the layout and train, 11/10 for having such an understanding wife! I once suggested something similar as a joke and got the cold shoulder for a week.
Today is the first time I've seen the S4 figs on sale, and got the Werewolf, a Viking, a Musketeer and a Soccer Player. No Hazmat Guy though :( I'll try again next week.
They had one last S3 packet floating around on the back of a shelf as well, which was a lucky Gorilla Suit guy find! That's two full sets of S3 now.
If I had the money I'd buy one tomorrow.
It's one of those sets that will always hold their value as well, so if you do get bored with it in the future you won't lose too much money by selling it on.
Hi everyone,
After too long 'a Dark Age, Lego has claimed me back! I'd been a fan since the early 70's, and been into Technic and Classic Space, but let it lapse.
Now I'm back, with Minifigs (just completed Series 3 with the Gorilla Guy), Train and Pirates, and whatever City fits as well.
AFOL, and proud of it..
Mat.
Just got a 7939 Cargo Train from Amazon while they were selling it off at £110.36, and a 7936 Level Crossing for £11.98, so I (sort of) got the Level Crossing for free.
2 day sales are great!
