  1. Cool review, thanks! Asda is selling this in store for £20. I can't say no to a bargain, so I picked one up yesterday and am impressed. It's a decent build and the three recycling bins look fantastic. The only thing I'd add is more rubbish!
  2. Reading this thread just cost me £100! Mine's now on order.
  3. I'd say they are on a par. They both don't have enough playable rooms, come with lots of extra bits that bump the price up too much and prove that Lego designers don't go to hospitals much. On the other hand, the police stations are really detailed and look great. Maybe that's where they spend their time!
  4. I'd go with the ginger guy for the chief mechanic and the guy on the far right for the normal mechanics. You'll also need one with a very blank expression and a brush, if it's anything like the garage near me!
  5. That's the hospital? That? More like a doctors office Hopefully the helicopter is a separate set and they'll both have a sensible price (for a change). I'd rather have had no helicopter and a bigger building.
  6. Very thourough review - cheers! I built this set the other day and my two kids have spent most of the afternoon playing with it and some of the other vehicles, and the Garbage Truck does fit in very well. The only (minor) criticism I've got is that the cab looks a little too low compared to the rest of the truck - a plate or two higher and it would fot with the real Merc vehicles much better. I might have to have a go at modding it ;) I think that this is a very good, very 'playable' set for the price.
  7. Like a lot of other people, I've shared some of my old collection with my 5 year olds. They're not really old enough for the Technic stuff yet but most everything else is fair game. I've got a display shelf with a firm "if it's on there it's not to play with" rule, which so far they've been very good about. Sometimes they'll make something with their Lego as ask me to put it on the display shelf as well, as they don't want it breaking down straight away. The best thing to stop them going after your Lego is to get them some of their own!
  8. Ask me again in a few years, and I'll say 'yes!' then! It looks like I need to get this set out and have another go with it - I never got anywhere near 25 other models out of it.
  9. Hi Demetreous, I'll have to go with A, because B and C have been done so many times in offical sets and MOCs. D sounds good, but go with the difference!
  10. Difficult decision - all the entries are really good. 2) The Lord of the Rings scene - Elf and Dwarf Warrior Entry (Build by Thor Lund) - 1 point 5) Dumbo scene - Clown, Ringmaster and Circus Clown Entry (Build by Oky) - 2 points (1 from me, 1 from my Dumbo addicted daughter!)
  11. 27) Zoo Keeper Entry (Build by Ninja Nin) - 1 point 23) Dwarf Warrior Entry (Build by TheBrickAvenger) - 1 point 20) Detective Entry (Build by CorneliusMurdock) - 1 point
  12. Neither of the two dogs or the house rabbit my Lego collection has grown up with has ever tried to eat any of it. I can't say the same for my daughter when she was a baby though
  13. Took the kids to the Legoland Discovery Centre for the Lego Star Wars weekend. We got to help build large scale Darth Vader and R2D2, and picked up six of the "limited edition" bricks. We also got a 40024 Christmas tree, too much pick-a-brick and a Christmas Fairy keyring. While we were there I heard about Amazons sale, and came home to get a 7913 Clone Trooper battle pack and two 7936 Level Crossings (£10 each!). At a third off I might have to go back and see what Technic they have.
  14. I picked up two copies of Lunar Command for £15 the other day, for the large baseboards and white bricks.
  15. It doesn't really matter how much you think you need now, you'll soon end up realising that it's not enough! Don't forget that sets like the Level Crossing (7936) come with some straight track and can be found a lot cheaper than the track sets.
  16. Hats off to you - the hangar looks better than the Falcon! The shiney black tiles on the floor give it a fantastically realistic look. 10/10
  17. I'm alternating between Stephen Frys second autobiography (with a thesaurus!) and Analysis of Shaolin Chin Na. Talk about opposites... And for the Pratchett fans - I've just rescued two boxes of my signed copies from my ex wife. She gets the house, I get the books - I think I win!
  18. Damn it! I'm still trying to save up for Lego Pirates of the Caribbean
  19. I love the way you've used the fence pieces in the last carriage.
  20. Me too. I won a 7498 Police Station late last year. Not too bad for 5 minutes work!
  21. Erm, me! I won a police station for filling in one of the Nielsen surveys, so it's always worth a chance.
  22. I can see your point, but equally I don't want to spend a fortune getting the last figure I need to complete the full set - it's just as anoying.
  23. If you mean feeling the packets to see what figures are in them, then I don't see anything wrong with that. If you mean anything else, then I worry for you
  24. That's the first survey I've filled in for them where they didn't ask for an email address to enter into a prize draw
  25. Fantastic. It's a nice simple design that looks relly good, and the floor is stunning. Well done.
