  3. I use a mix of plastic A4 wallets for smaller ones and old shoe boxes for the larger ones. I did sit down once and sort them out but only got part way though and I have a load more stuffed in a drawer now Nice job for a wet Sunday!
  4. I just spent my 40th birthday at Legoland Windsor, I have Lego on my desk at work and play with Lego with my two 5 year olds. Friends and family know I'm an addict, and happily buy me Lego as presents. It's no different from any other hobby!
  5. Flex is fine, just a bit loud if it's on a wooden floor!
  6. I'm part way through the 8109 and really really wish I'd sorted the parts more before starting, it would have saved a lot of time. I think your main problem will be having space to put them after you've built them all
  7. Twice I've pointed open packets and loose bits out to the staff in my local Tesco and both times they've let me have the pieces - they said they would only throw them away otherwise. It's always worth asking!
  8. Shhh - or they'll jack the £ price up!
  9. Well, I know what the kids are getting for their birthday, whether they want one or not! I'm amazed at the amount of detail they've managed to squeeze in for the size/price and the outside looks simply gorgeous. We've got a town of mostly non-modular houses so it will fit right in.
  10. Thanks for the brilliant review - my wallet hates you! With all the details you've pointed out I've got to buy this!
  11. Fantastic day at the Lego Show. Saw some really cool displays and met some fantastic people. I want to go back! Pics here
  12. Thanks for a really good review of a really poor set. Who decided that huge helicopter looked good on top of such a small hospital? Was it added as an after thought to help bump the price up? They would have been much better off using the value of those pieces to add another room or a bit more playability to what is already there. I think I'll wait till Amazon is selling them at 40% off
  13. Sorry - it was a one off sale Tesco did a few weeks ago - 75% off some of the older sets. The AD and Technic stuff all went within minutes!
  14. I too miss the old box design and their alternative pictures. I also miss the little catalogues you used to get in them too. At least now I can afford to buy the sets rather than just dream about owning them!
  15. I've not opened it yet, but looking at the box it seems the back clips on to the base. It's 24 studs wide and 5 useable deep, so there is some room to add more bits to it. I'll try and do a review when I open it
  16. Just got back from the Legoland Discovery Center in Manchester, and their PAB selection is good if you want 2x2 or 2x4 bricks (and red seats, for some reason) but poor for everything else. I picked up some fences, 1x3 light bley bricks and brick corners which came to £5.75 - I thought that was expensive till I worked out it was £12.86 from the PAB website! I also got a Friends picture frame (853393), which I've not seen before.
  17. Modular buildings are expensive enough - can you imagine how much they'd be if you added a licensing fee to them as well???
  18. Having picked this up for a disgusting £18, I'm really looking forward to building this with the kids now. And it seems to be a good source of parts when they are tired of it too.
  19. Straight track is £1.91 a piece on PAB, so buying the 7499 straight and flexible box means I get 16 flexible pieces for 71 pence. That's not an unreasonable price I suppose. Still, I'd rather get a bag/box of 8 staights for £12, but Lego needs to make a profit somewhere.
  20. Having been laid up with a chest infection for the last week I decided to sort my collection into something a bit more useable and I came to some horrible conclusions. 1) I don't have as much white Lego as I hoped. 2) I have almost my own body weight in 1x1 slopes, 1x1 round plates and bent droid/skeleton arms. I wonder if I could trade them in to Lego for a set of equivalent weight, like a Death Star or something 3) I need more Lego! On the plus side I now have everything organised by colour, and the larger collections into bags of the same type of bricks. Storage is on the cheap side - shoe boxes and freezer bags, and some cheap WHAM divided organiser boxes for the smaller bits.
  21. Tesco in Hanley had 4 boxes this afternoon. I ended up with 1 programmer, 1 swimmer, 1 tennis player, 1 hippie, 1 Galaxy patrol and 2 Aztec warriors. Not too bad for a start. Anyone interested in the spare Aztec?
  22. Stig on a skatebord - genius!
  23. It looks fantastic now it's a little lower. The SNOT-work gives it a really good level of detail that normal brick built busses don't have.
  24. Turn the question around a little - would you want to work for a company that didn't understand the appeal of Lego? I review CVs my company receives for IT positions, and I'd be happy to see Lego mentioned in a revelant way. But then I do have rather a lot of Lego on my desk...
  25. That is one fantastic coach. The detailing is perfect - good attention to detail (like the doors) but not too fussy. Keep it up!
