  1. I agree with that! Also, I tend to build on the couch so I am with my family. Having to build at the computer would mean I am alone in a room instead of with them.
  2. True about the achievement feeling, almost like you finished a huge educational book! If they would go back to smaller volumes I for sure want them to be without staples! Use proper glueing technique instead! Interesting response to this message. I did not realize this before, but is indeed true that the build steps nowadays are "simplified". I tend to agree with those who say Technic sets may be more challanging to build as they are now. One way, and easiest I think, is to reduce number of build steps.
  3. Hahaha! I do not have this set so I looked it up on the Lego site, you are right! Very, very unnecesarry set indeed!
  4. I like to store them in a cubaord with doors, putting them on a shelve in time will discolor the backs! I would not go so far to say I have fetish for plastic binders ;-). I just want to keep them as neat as possible. I agree, one big books has a more luxureous feel as several small ones. I like to see the B-model book printed too, although I understand the economic reasons for Lego to stop doing that.
  5. I was wondering if I am the only one with this opinion or if there are like-minded Technic fans. I recently bought several, newly released Technic sets. I noticed that the building instruction books are one volume and therefore become very thick (the book of the 42056 Porsche set being the absolute number one). I do not like this for a couple of reasons. First being that when you are at either the beginning of end of your build, the books tend not to lay open easily. Second reason, and for me most important, I can not store them in a Ordner / Binder anymore they way I used to. I have these transparant punch binder envelops which work great, provided there are not too many pages in a book. I really wish Lego would return to a limited number of pages per building instruction book and go back to the "old way" of providing seperate volumes. What is your opinion?
  6. I will dig up some pictures. I have not made MOC or MOD recently. I have been busy building standard sets, mainly Technic. No need to post these, plenty of them here already!
  7. thanks guys!
  8. that is great! I should try these on the Horizon Express (it is so heavy it eats AAA batteries for breakfast!).
  9. Good news! It is very sad to see companies, like TLG, who invest a lot of time and money in research and development being ripped off / copied by other companies. I hope the Chinese legal system will rule in favour of TLG.
  10. Hello fellow Lego enthusiasts! My name is Walter. I have been using this Eurobricks over the past years, it now is time to register too! My main interest are Lego trains and Lego Technic.
  11. A true Lego Technic set in my opinion! A very nice mix of Power Functions, pneumatics and at a very reasonable price. It is a good value for money this set. Also it is challenging enough to build, even for seasoned builders! I consider this to be one of the best Technic sets Lego released in recent years.
  12. Hi Love this set! A nice balance between Lego Technic and a true to life model. I am glad I bought it!
  13. I have received a reply from Lego on my complaint with regards to the gear change sequence being wrong (sorry the reply from Lego is in Dutch Language): Beste Walter, Hartelijk dank voor uw bericht. In short, the gear change sequence being not in the right order 1,2,3,4 etc) is on purpose. Accoding to Lego the Design Team decided to change the sequence because otherwise there would be too much friction / stress on some parts. I will build the gear box in the correct sequence (read: different from Lego sequence). I am interested to see what the outcome will be. I do appriciate the fast and truly personal reply from Lego on this matter! They did not simply give a short and formal reply.
  14. I suspect the same Richard Dower. I have read a fluffy statement somewhere frm Lego about the gearbox issue. They neither confirmed or denied the issue. However, in my opinion, when you can resolve the issue by simple switching 2 or 3 parts around, then it is an error in the building instructions! If it would recquire different parts then that are in the set and / or modification of the gearox, it would be another matter alltogether. My opinion, admid you made a mistake and solve it best you can (especially for a set as expensive as this one)!
  15. Hi to all you Lego (Technic) fans! I received my Porsche today! However, I must say I am disappointing for the second time by Lego with regards to this specific set. First they disappointed me by not packing the set properly the first time round. Additionally the gear box is not shifting in the right order 1,2,3,4 etc. due to an error in the building instructions. I do applaud Lego for recognizing the mistake(s) they made and stopping delivery in order to guarantee delivery in undamaged condition. When I opened my set today I was glad to see it was re-packed, boxes are in other order compared to previous packing method AND a extra piece of black cardboard (almost like a mini box) was added between the building book and the box to the right hand side. I assume the extra cardboard is there to prevent the heavy book from moving. However, and this is a big however!, after I checked the rest of the content of the set I was disappointed again by Lego. I will explain why. After checking the building instructions I noticed the mistake in the gearbox is still there (steps 267, 268 & 269). I understand Lego did want to reprint entire books due to the costs involved (and time it takes of course). But what I absolutely do not understand is why there is no extra instruction sheet in the set replacing steps 267 through 269)! Why go through all the trouble of opening all sets, re-packing them, add the small extra black card board box and not include a extra sheet of paper rectifying the building book mistake?! I truly do not understand this from Lego. It can not be the cost nor can it be a time issue in my opinion. I am not one to write a complaint quickly but I will write Lego in this particular matter. Mainly due to the fact this is a VERY expensive set for, let's be honest, not the most complete Technic set in existence. By not complete I mean the lack Power Functions and or Pneumatic Functions in the set. Nevertheless, I am sure I will enjoy building this set and I wish the rest of you lots of build fun too!
