The camelcamelcamel.com website is useful for looking at Amazon prices. As an example, the 8092 data can be seen here, looks like £13 was a good deal If you registor you get it to alert you if the price of a product is reduced

There is good discussion about Lego tack on this thread

Which wheels are coming off the track? As others have said watch at slow speed and it might help to diagnose the problem if you could indicate whether all or just some of the engine wheels are coming off?

Thanks for the links and sorry for missing them originally (I thought I had read through thoroughly!)

Looks like a great start to me The best thing to do would be to lay it all out for real and see how it looks in real life. Let us know how thing progress (and it would be great to see some photos if possible)

What's a Better Engine, Red or Yellow Cargo?
tbroyd replied to Paul B Technic's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I like them both but for me they are different types of loco for hauling different types of train. For me, the yellow engine looks like a large powerful main line loco for hauling fast freight or passenger trains The red engine is a switching / shunting / slow speed freight loco or for hauling engineers trains For me therefore, they both have their own different role on my layout. My suggestion would be to get both! -
I think Lego have done a great job with the design of this new building. My only problem is when its placed between other modulars it seems to look wrong. To me a Town Hall is a building which normally stands on its own and not crammed between other buildings. I'd be interested to know of any buildings really like this? If I get one I might have to separate it a bit from the adjacent buildings (perhaps by adding a 32 x 8 stud paseplate on to the one provided and using the additional width to provide an alley way each side)

I'd light to think I'm the Emerald Night, whether those who know me would agree is another matter!

If you decide to go with Lego road baseplates then I would suggest looking at car boot sales. I've got lots from my local ones and never paid more than £1 each. They are usually the older style with the green studded area and if you decide you don't want them you can sell them on Ebay for a profit! If you decide to stick with the idea of printing them then do let us know how you get on. It would certainly allow much more freedom in your design

Are LEGO Trains Classed as "Real" Model Trains?
tbroyd replied to Paul B Technic's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I have exhibited at a couple of model railway exhibitions here in the UK and I'm doing another next month. I've only ever had positive comments and there are always crowds looking on. Many of the visitors are 35 years plus and have not touched lego since they were children. They are therefore quite amazed at whats possible in Lego now, the range of parts available and the colours now produced. -
eBay user sells instructions for other builder's MOCs
tbroyd replied to Badsneaker's topic in LEGO Town
As I said earlier, you can click the report link on the listing to report it as selling a digital e-mailed copy is against ebay rules Click report, select 'Listing practices', followed by 'Other listing practices' followed by 'digitally delivered goods' Ebay do take notice and pull listings if enough people report them -
MOC: Engineering Wagon Using New Panels from 4434
tbroyd replied to tbroyd's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I Agree Black and brown would both be really useful for railway wagons -
Was given the Lego City Tipper Truck 4434 for Christmas but thought the new panels used for the tipper might make a good wagon for the engineering (MOW) train I am building Need to fit black buffers but quite pleased with the shape. The panels also have potential for making a longer bogie wagon. Anyone had a play with them yet?

Wilkinsons have some half price lego offers here Makes the base plates good value and even the appalling harbour set isn't too bad at £32. I think there is a charge for delivery but pickup from a wilkos store is free

Debenhams have got a few good reductions such as the 8069 Technics Backhoe half price. You can also try for an extra 10% off using codes GD34 or DB2U A bit gutted that I missed out on QAR half price at the Disney store - sold out now!

They include tools, hats, hair, brooms, gas tanks, mugs, cups, radios etc. Each bag contains at least 100 parts and they are selling for £3 each All the bags are different but my one contained:

The 3 sets can still be purchased cheaper on Amazon individually. If you are prepared to wait they are often cheaper still but the amazon prices are comparatively high at the moment

As well as the Star Wars Vulture Droid give away on 3rd December, they are also giving out a City Police Helicopter on 10th December. Not sure of the design of the copter as I haven't seen a photo yet -

Hi. Looks an interesting town with some great buildings. If it was me I would move the building fb ge & gc one plate to the left along with the 3 road plates next to them. I would then put something like a park or a play area in the space created between the roads that go up and down in the middle. (they don't realy make sense as they are) Hope that makes sense! Look forward to seeing some pictures in due course

Went to Legoland yesterday making use of our standard Merlin passes. Decided to buy 10217 HP Diagon Alley making use of the 10% discount that the Merlin pass gives on the first £100 of purchases in the Lego shop. The sales assistant didn't think I was allowed a discount because its a 'hard to find' item so checked with a manager only to return and said that I was entitled to £25 off as its 'hard to find'. So I managed to get the set for £107.99 instead of £132.99 So if you have a Merlin pass and are at Legoland Windsor check out what discounts they have on the 'Hard to find' items at the back

Great model, really looks the part Was interested in what the white 1x1 hinge bricks are on the front of the bus on the white unrights between lower and upper deck. I am aware of the 1x2 hinge bricks but can't find a 1x1 version (I happened to be looking the othr day as it would have been handy for something I'm building)

Anyone had any experience of these Looks like a complete remote control engine and carraige for £39 (plus £24 shipping). Could be cheaper elsewhere but wondered just how good the mechanism etc is

Thanks for the photos on the Frisco Loco Kyphur. I've also seen photos with the buildings on but never seen them for sale, the loco shed looks similar to the Lego one which now sells for silly money on ebay & bricklink, I always wondered how much the enlighten ones might cost?
