  1. I have a new sealed Lego 7839 Car Transport Depot from the 12v lego trains era. It includes the depot/platform, section of 12v railway track, railway wagon and a car to put on it The set is still sealed with the cellophane intact but is have been squashed on one side (although this has not damaged the plastic). Best shown with photos: Taking into affect the box damage I would like £70 for the set which I think is more than fair. I have looked on Bricklink and this is roughly the average price for used sets currently being advertised for sale (and much less than any new sets are being adverted for) I am based in the UK but do not have any selling history on Eurobricks. I am however going to the Great Western Lego Show on Saturday 6th October so would be happy to meet so a buyer could inspect the set before handing over the cash.
  2. Although not perfect, I do feel that the ability to control PF trains does improve with practice - mainly how the control is held and pointed. I also only ever adjust the control one notch at a time and check to see if the train has responded before adjusting again I rediscovered Lego too late for the 9v trains which is perhaps what has forced me to persevere with the PF system
  3. Great colour combination and it really enhances the design. Would look good as a modular with other Lego modular buildings (whereas the character of the HH makes it better set apart?)
  4. Great idea. I would definitely be interested
  5. Looks great, slightly elevated and apart from other buildings. Also good to see how the size of the HH compares with other buildings. Has given me ideas......
  6. Thanks for the info, several quite interesting things that could be of use
  7. I think one problem here is that perhaps different countries have different rules. In the UK virtually every on-line retailer states that a contact is only formed on despatch of goods. It therefore gives them the right to cancel any order before despatch (Happens all the time with Amazon) I agree with you totally about the high price will so will not buy. I think the design and colours are brilliant, but as I don't really need it so I will resist, I simply feel that the price is a rip-off. I too have e-mailed Lego and got what looked like a computer generated reply. I think the only thing that will change Lego's attitude is if enough people simply don't buy the set
  8. The power drop is mostly caused by tiny loses in each track joint, when you have a lot of track and joints the loses add up Therefore the answer is to supply power using wires to several parts of the layout so that power at the furthest part of the layout does not rely on the track and joints. You only need one controller to supply a large run but need 3 or 4 feeds from the controller output to each corner of the layout.
  9. Especially like the coaches . Really have the right character
  10. 1. castor-troy - 1 27. Myko - 3 28. Trainee - 1 Some brilliant entries
  11. Next months Milton Keynes store newsletter on Lego site states "Make sure to come to Manchester Arndale on the 24th, 25th, and 26th August to our grand store opening! Get a different exclusive free gift on each day when you spend £25 or more! Plus, take part in some unforgettable building activities!"
  12. Would be best to do an advanced search on ebay for completed listings. It will show what sets have actually sold for. As an example, the results for the Marina are It does depend a lot on condition - whether boxed etc
  13. Visited the Milton Keynes Lego shop this afternoon and amongst the reduced items they had was the 3677 Train set reduced to £118. Not a set you can usually get cheap so I thought it worth mentioning, the other reduced items are probably cheaper on amazon
  14. Your'e right. They can charge what they want, but equally everyone complaining has the option not to buy it I do feel that the high price is not justified and have communicated this via their website saying so. I think it's a great set but will not pay £150 for it! I can't see them changing their minds about the price unless inital sales are very slow
  15. I agree, its now a ridiculous price. There are 2 things people can do. Firstly, complain to Lego and secondly not buy it at the new price. I'll be doing both
  16. The July newsletter for the Milton Keynes Lego store gives a release date of 1st July for the Team GB Minifigs
  17. Looks like a good start - the streamlined look is certainly taking shape Look forward to seeing further progress
  18. Thanks, Great review and great choice and quality pictures One of my favourite releases so far this year, they really seem to have captured the charater of the real thing
  19. New crane design looks brilliant - very neat and looks right - finishes the scene off nicely (and has given me an idea!)
  20. Really Great combination of sets and the wooden decked area looks superb but I can't help getting annoyed by the Harbour crane. Its my (8 year old) daughters fault as she pointed out Lego's design flaw in the set and told me point blank I was not to buy it! (although I have since sneeked one into the house). The problem is that in real harbours ships are moored up and stay still and the cranes move around to unload the ships. The Lego crane is fixed and can only pivot around so I presume that the Lego designers must think that in real life ships are continuously moved around in harbours to allow them to be loaded/unloaded?
  21. I think last year may have been a silver age perhaps with a great selection of sets available together with station & crossing. Trouble is that so many of those sets are discontinued or soon to be (HP, Toy story, crossing, red passenger, yellow freight)that we may be entering another dark age with just the Maersk & red freight set available, no info on anything new soon - hardly a golden age? (at least it gives the wallet a rest!)
  22. Not something that I had considered but HP does now have its own theme park in the US and the WB HP studios are opening here in the UK. SW has neither of those and the companies must be sure of HP's long term appeal to have invested so much money in the attractions
  23. Its an interesting question as I am also a 'normal' railway modeller, have a g scale railway in the garden and belong to a model railway club. I have been to many model railway exhibitions and its common now in the UK to see a Lego railway of some description, something never seen 10 years ago. Except for a few rivet counters, most modellers are very open minded to what others do and have never had a problem with them looking down on my Lego models or implying they are inferior. Although normally put with the Thomas The Tank Engine layouts and other more junior attractions at exhibitions, at least Lego is becoming more accepted I am putting together a Lego railway layout for a model railway exhibition next month and think I have done far more building than some of the normal model railways on show where the track is ready made, trains are simply out the box and even the buildings are ready made & painted
  24. I think the range of new vehicles has been great this spring, but for me its a close call between car/caravan and the dump truck The Dump truck has some great new parts but the winner for me is the car/caravan (inspite of the stupid arch!).
  25. Lego sets are usually around for approx 2 years. Lego have offered many different train stations over the years so when the current one is discontinued there is a fair chance that within a reasonable time a replacement will be offered. Although they have sold level crossing sets before, not as many so it might be a while before another is offered. My advise with the crossing would be to get one asap
