  1. I might work on that, I was more concerned with getting the nose to work out with the stripes and the height. Six wide has its restrictions, but that is what all of my stuff is so staying there for now.
  2. This project has been a long time in the making. I took the inspiration photos last summer when I spotted a BNSF SD60M in yard switching duty that had remote control equipment installed. I have included a couple pictures of the original prototype as reference, enjoy! Feedback is always appreciated. 3. What sleepers specifically are you referring to? My brain isn't working well this morning
  4. Sign me up for one in 9V, I am drooling all over my keyboard! I have to go get a can of aerosol duster and a towel now! Any idea how soon this can be accomplished? Dan
  5. So are there plans to accomplish this in 9V? I would love that!
  6. Yes, if you take a look at the last picture there is an access section where the seam is. I haven't decided how/what to put there yet. I will probably have to secure the baseplates and anything on top somehow so when I lift it off they stay affixed. Thanks for the positive comments! Yes, the Cargo boat is one of my favs also! All of the sets in the boxes on the shelves and New In Sealed Boxes, my wife keeps telling me I have a problem!
  7. Check out my Flickr page here for albums detailing most of them.
  8. When my wife and I built our new home I decided that I needed my own room for my Lego collection and to build a Lego layout with a complete Lego town. So here are some pictures so far, I hope everyone enjoys what I have done. I used the 9V system exclusively and don't have any plans to change that. It took me forever to ballast the track using the L-Gauge system and a ton of Lego pieces so I really don't plan to change the track layout anytime soon either. The switches are the worst! I am happy with how everything turned out for the most part with the exception ot the yard, I wish it were larger for train staging but such is life. I also wanted a double main but without a 9V crossover solution that isn't possible yet, hopefully sometime soon. Feedback is always appreciated! 9. I used Microscale O scale decals on both cabooses. Even though they are a tad too big I thought they worked out just fine.
  10. Very nice indeed! I am not an 8 wide fan but I am certainly a SD40-2 and BNSF fan! Get some BNSF stickers made up for that hood!
  11. I personally am diggin' that Canadian National version, the Illinois Central Operation Lifesaver is nice as well! But lets get real folks, shouldn't we call this what it more closely resembles, a GP40-2? I know Lego had their constraints when doing the Maersk SD40-2 but there are alternatives out there. Sorry to get a bit off topic and it's obviously just my opinion but Lego made a GP40-2 and tweaked it at that.
  12. I wanted to share a couple of my Burlington Northern Wide-Vision Cabooses with everyone. I built them a while back and really like how they turned out. I believe I was able to capture the prototypical look fairly well, it took me several attempts to get the height and length just right before I was happy with the result. I went with the later version of the BN Cascade Green caboose with the windows welded over for simplicity purposes and the BN Freedom caboose was that way so I didn't have to decide on that. Feedback always welcomed. 13. Thanks! One of the more difficult challenges were the end platforms. These were a structural challenge for me and it took several attempts to get them right and to look correct. After all an SD40-2 is almost as long as a SD60!
  14. The dynamic brake fans are RC train wheels, Lego part # 55423c01 held on with a Technic pin and the radiator cooling fans are Technic wedge belt wheel pulley, Lego part # 4185 held on with jumper plates. The droid arms in green are tough to find and the green tubing is even tougher, almost impossible! The articulated 3 axle trucks are the Talltim Truck design. Here is an exploded view to get an idea: The Talltim Truck by swoofty, on Flickr
  15. The only locomotives that are powered are the 2 axle locos with the 9v train motors and most of the have 2 for pulling power. Yes I just use standard Lego curves for now until I see something that I see is trustworthy enough to make the leap and no PF as of now. I pull trains of 10 - 15 cars with ease with two powered locos. I have a large amount of rolling stock not on display at the moment. The split between the cab windows is a Swoofty design 2x2 gray flag, yes. 2017-02-06_09-24-00 by freezingvettes99, on Flickr
  16. Thanks for the positive feedback, It's very much appreciated!
  17. Now that I have finally figured out how to post pictures from Flickr I will share one of my favorite MOCs with everyone. I have been lurking on this site for quite sometime now and just lately decided to become active. I have seen quite a few attempts at MOC SD40/SD40-2s and I really didn't like the way they turned out so I set out to create something in 6 Wide that truly represented the look of the real thing. I live in the upper mid-west so I grew up around the BN so I have a fancy for Cascade Green locomotives. Feel free to provide your feedback. 20170130_080122 by freezingvettes99, on Flickr 20170130_080106 by freezingvettes99, on Flickr 20170130_080045 by freezingvettes99, on Flickr 20170130_080146 by freezingvettes99, on Flickr
  18. Figured out how to post pictures! Yippe! 20170130_080022 by Dan Durr, on Flickr
  19. Outstanding craftsmanship! I agree as well, I too could watch that beautiful steamer run all day...and I am not a steam fan! I didn't realize that something like that even existed, I have been around trains my while life! Anyways, nice job on your creation.
  20. These are fantastic! Nice work on the extended versions.
