  1. Thank you so much! Haha, dispite looking nothing like it architectulally, it does seem to have that charm :D I'm starting to think so myself. Better at 16 wide that is, these wouldn't be any good if not for the stunning origionals! Thanks! From a distance it does look like they are just a little taller! Thanks! :D It's funny how the eyes decieve you into seeing what you expect to see :D Thanks! It was scary pulling them apart but at least i knew I could go back if it was a disaster! Thanks! I think that this solves the 'scale' issue between some of the older ones. It's funny just how similar the GG is to the PS after you take the massive bay window off! Space was my main inspiration, and after I started the challenge became working with a smaller space :) Thank you so much! Thank you so much! That was very kind of you!!!
  2. Perhaps we should have a collaborative LDD build for a large street, all making one building each, and then share the .ldd files :D
  3. Awesome! I'm interested to see where you go with this, it's fascinating to see what decision you take when it comes to removing details that I kept, and vice-versa! Especially the modified balcony and the brickwork on the side, which I decided to keep for my next building instead :D
  4. Thanks! That's the best part about Lego, I have the parts and the instructions so I could go back if I wished to :D There are very fer parts left, surprisingly! In a few places I had to pull from my own stash too, but the extra windows from moving to 16 wide came in handy! I was pleased with how it turned out, I tried very hard to fit a door on the front but it all worked out well regardless! I was tempted to use the large black doors from the back of the original, but the bright red garage door was just too good looking! Yes, I've been planning on doing this for a while. Someone on this forum made a great 32wide pub using it, so I tried very hard to make mine it's own quaint little design :) Thanks! I don't take credit for the pool table, someone actually posted on here an .ldd model of it that I then changed a little for stability. I downloaded it in January when I first started building and just had to find a way to include it! Thank you so much! My favourite part about the Emporium is moving to 6wide arches and showing off that great iron work in the windows :D Yes, the Green Grocer looks great alongside the Pet Shop with the similar brick work. I plan to make the other half into a 16wide apartment complex, but am waiting on some new bricks to arrive first so it can be in a new colour :) Not only cuter, but brighter and more colourful too, I think because the eyes can take them all in at once. Haha - I actually had an idea to do that, but changed my mind after I started to alter these ones. I may give it a go a little bit later in the year though if I can come up with an interesting way to tie them together :) Thank you so much!! Thanks! This makes the late nights worth it :D Indeed, the MMV was too nice a set to leave out of my display. And my GF got it for me before I had started to get into building for myself, so I felt I had to do something with it. A pub seemed a natural choice for the style! It's the one I was most worried about, due to loosing the door, but it turned out well, especially in the middle of a street :) Thanks! And a huge thank you to everyone for commenting, and for getting this posted to the front page! What what a wonderful surprise to wake up to!
  5. I've fallen in love with the 16 wide style, so i decided to take some of my existing sets and adapt them. Now I have some unique buildings that I think have retained most of their style and charm, and I have more space to place some new buildings in the future! My street of 16 wide modulars Grand Emporium, Green Grocer, Medievil Market Village and Fire Brigade This is the backside fo the Fire Brigade and Market Village Pub The rear shows the Grand Emporium and the Green Grocer The Fire Brigade The firebrigade is deep, using most of the pieces from the set The ground floor is the garage, housing the engine (barely) and all the tools needed for maintenance When the bell sounds, the garage door raises to allow the engine out Upstairs retains most of details of the official set, with the kitchen and sofa for relaxing, and the stairway to roof access The Medieval Market Village In this pub, beer is served direct from the keg. The boxer has come to drown his sorrows after loosing his latest match just hours ago This man is determined to drink all he can! The middle floor is a snooker area, where the girl watches her date set the table He will let her win The top floor is a storage room, I don't have enough barrels to furnish it fully yet. The dragon is just hanging out The Green Grocer A little ugly, but it works The first floor needs some new tiles for the expanded floor A shot inside the door The fireplace has been retained The living space is a little cramped for a family, might wanna get a bigger bed. And loose the kid! The Grand Emporium A woman picks out new clothes from the rack The wedding outfits are displayed on the first floor The middle floor sells housewares The view out the window is great, and the extra light makes the whole shop more inviting The top floor keeps the chandelier and has an expanded toy section, with lots of Lego The kids make their choice as the dad worries about cost! Finally… A sunny view of them all
  6. I was just thinking this would work well for a comic rack! I might have to change one of my planned buildings to put the comic store back in as I took it out when my own plan proved to be too bulky a solution!
  7. I saw this in action at BrickFete and it was very impressive! The motion is mesmerizing!
  8. It's inspiring how much you have fitted into such a small space! I'd love to see more of the little grey building!
  9. Thanks! I appreciate it :) The theater is my fave too, it's so imposing in the line up! I designed it to be similar to one from my home-town at first, and it was where my Dad took me to me first wrestling show. Then the design changed to make it fit into a modular street layout better, which made it wider and less deep. My first plan was quite similar but only 32x32 and lots of chairs, but as soon as I decided to put a wrestling ring in the design had to change! Thanks! I think it works well when you can peer in at such a colourful crowd! Yea, I got the figures in an auction at a local event the day before and just had to include them! I only know who Darth Vader is, but the other characters were too bizarre looking to NOT have hanging about in the town! I originally thought I could use the collectible mini-figs to do a Halloween display, but then noticed that 95% of my town was in costume! I appreciate it! I'm making some 16 wides now like the Pet Shop to expand my town without taking up too much more shelf space :D
  10. A few questions: 1. What is the width and height dimensions that you are working with in bircks/studs? 2. Will the MOC have an interior, or be lit from inside? And eilonwy77 - how do you keep your mosaics from falling if placed vertically?
  11. Looking forward to watching it grow!
  12. I went in June and got a cup almost exclusively of 1x2x2 trans clear window pieces!
  13. I have most of the ones I want for less than $4 each on Bricklink, just need the Graduate, Zoo Keeper and the Royal Guard now!
  14. Did I see this at Brickfete?
  15. A question slightly out of left-field, but how do you deal with dust and such having your buildings displayed on a shelf like that?
  16. This is great work, thanks for sharing! Any chance you could share some LDD files?
  17. Here are some more pictures that show the structure of the theatre, and one of the bakery that I didn't post for some reason! View of the strcture of the ground floor View of the structure of the 2nd floor View of the side to show of the oversize Minifig-eye view Detail of the top front Next door is the bakery and sushi store
  18. Thanks! I appreciate the response. Perhaps I will one day expand it to something approaching the size of your town The day before, I got a bag with about 50 Star Wars figures in. I only know who Darth Vader is, so I figured I would just up my population with some weird people lol. The hotel is my GF's fave, the colours look great in person! All my own design. I have the LDD files, but they changed dramatically for structural reasons when building. I will post some more shots when I get home. Thank you! I need to try to get away from greys in my next buildings a bit, but I tried to make them all interesting :D It was! And a lot of money spent on BrickLink! I'm gonna take a little rest for a bit I think before I start building again, and take some time to better design on the computer I think :)
  19. Thanks! It's been a lot of fun! And this forum has given me a lot of ideas and inspiration :D
  20. I have been browsing this forum since christmas when I started getting back into Lego! Here is what I have built in the past 6 months: My buildings mixed with Lego View of the street Girl with her dog The Cape Party meet at the streetcar station The town takes weed killing seriously! The mummys have come to the end of their vacation, and the bus is arriving to take them home The doctor is driving his sports car past the theatre The Eagle Theatre hosts lots of events and is the place to be since it was renovated But be careful when you service the AC, the zombie is stuck up there because he is afraid of heights and he gets hungry! A little detailing on the interior of the theatre Looking down from the ceiling at the crowd chearing on the luchador as he springboards into the ring As the action in the ring between Luchadore, Heart Throb Jack and Punk heats up, Sumo John appears to lay down a challange! A view over the shoulder of Luchadore shows the rest of the interior The mexican Stereotype exits the bakery with a smile on his face having bought some of the cakes in the window The living room is beautiful, but may be a little bare if the dog doesn't spot the thief! The race relaxes after a hard days racing A deal takes place in the sushi store And a line forms in the bakery Everyone was excited when they saw a pet shop opening up, but all is not as it seems... For a start, the owner reffers to himself as Space Daddy, and dresses in a somewhat questionable fashion And some of his 'pets' for sale have a questionable history! The apartment above is rented by a young couple who don't seem too worried about Space Daddy, what with the great rent that they get And the love the layout. Now if only they could get a larger bed! The hotel provides basic, yet attractive rooms in the heart of the town - perfect for visiting tourists and celebrities The roof is the star feature, with a large swimming pool and glass balcony A view inside shows the hotel floors. Each floor has one large room and two smaller rooms. Every room has a balcony This view shows the hotel rooms from the front The main hall of the hotel has a bar, check-in desk and a beautiful fountain The corner space has been bought up recently and turned into a gym and office space Here the CEO of Empire Industries describes to a worker how he would like his office to be set up. The boardroom table has yet to be delivered... Downstairs, furniture is delivered and arranged, while the foreman tries to explain the colour difference in the stairway railing the backside of the office space The front desk of the gym is fairly useless, As all they will tell you is that they are not taking sign-ups Inside the gym meanwhile, the equipment is being put to good use This little store sells droids, designed to help people with their house chores. The cost makes them something of a luxuary item You can have any colour you want, as long as it's tan! Upstairs, a painter works on makeing the appartment move-in ready Reports are that sometimes, the droids go bad... This old industrial building was recently gutted and turned into the ultimate night spot in town The roof-top access allows patrons to take a break from the noise and enjoy the warm nights in the summer The top floor features a night club that boasts the longest bar in town... And guest sets by the best djs Downstairs in the band area, the crowd are excited to see a popular band in an intimate setting And bands love the chance to play to an enthusiastic audience The bottom floor is a restaurant that serves great food The chef loves having everything he needs to make amazing food, and being nextdoor to the grocer helps! The kitchen is a little small, but has everything the chef could need
  21. Isn't this worth a small fortune?!?
  22. Awesome pinball machine! I'd love to see how you did that :)
  23. 1x1 round in dark green, 1x1 round in white, and a red 1x1 round cone :)
  24. Exceptional use of colour and ultra modern beach-house look!
  25. ++! I also like the arcade machines, good work!
