Hmm, as far as I can tell, the only difference from the last Carbonite Han is that this new one has a worried look on his face instead of a smirk. I do wonder if he'll have a double-sided head though. If he does, I'm thinking the other side would be a blinded version?

It's probably way too early to start a thread for 2013 news/rumors, but yakface.com has gotten a first look at the brand wide packaging for all 2013 Star Wars products (LEGO most likely included, if this year's Darth Maul packaging is any indication). And it's going to be Yoda/AotC themed. Makes sense, as that is the next film in line to get the 3D treatment. Click here for the article Yakface already got a hold of the rumor that the 2013 packaging would be Yoda a few months back, but now they have an actual official image of what it is going to look like: Personally I like this year's Darth Maul packaging better, but Yoda with a lightsaber is probably the most iconic image from Episode II. That and Yoda covers the PT, the OT, AND the Clone Wars, so he sort of ties the whole saga together. So not too bad, considering. If this has already been posted elsewhere or belongs in an already established topic, please feel free to delete/merge.

Man, Jabba's Palace is actually a good looking set. I was secretly hoping it would be bad so I could easily pass on it and wouldn't have to pay the high pricetag this set is rumored to have. Oh well, maybe I'll put it on my Christmas list this year and cross my fingers that Santa gets it for me. I am a little bummed that they seem to be counting Han's carbonite block accessory itself as a "minifigure" now. Would have been cool to have gotten an actual 10th minifig of a new alien or something, but hey, can't complain too much since this thing is already packed to the gills with new minifigs.

Was reading this awesome article about the main LEGO offices link and came across this picture in the slideshow: It's a whole WALL of Star Wars prototypes! Some look like sets that already came out (AT-AT, Sandcrawler, Star Destroyer), but most of them look new to me! Looks like UCS sets at the top, System sets near the bottom! Interesting to wonder if we'll be getting any of these sets in the future or if most of these will never move past the prototype stage. EDIT: Just remembered about the rumor that we might be getting Pre Viszla's Starfighter as an exclusive set late this year. And there are two ships that sort of look like his ship in this picture! Hmm...

92%! It was LEGO Star Wars that brought me out of my Dark Ages two years ago, and I pretty much stuck with it. But with DC Superheroes out now and Marvel Superheroes and LOTR/Hobbit right around the corner, that numer may be dropping a little bit. But no matter what, my collection will always be majority Star Wars!

Got the Naboo Fighter, Republic Frigate, and the LEGO Star Wars Clone Wars video game for the Wii for Christmas this year. Then the day after Christmas I picked up Mace Windu's Jedi Starfighter on clearance at Walmart. WAY overpriced at it's original $40, but for $20 it was an easy buy.

I was hoping this guy had pics of the exclusive summer sets, not the next wave of planets. Oh well, still nice to get a clearer view of the next planet sets anyways. And hey, maybe he still does have pics of the exclusive sets just hasn't posted them up yet (fingers crossed). It is still interesting to me that Lobot is in a planet set and all of the other planet sets so far have included figures that are already available in other larger scale sets. So it gives me hope that maybe one of the still unknown exclusives is a System scale Cloud Car or, dare I say it, a new CLOUD CITY! Maybe not and maybe I'm reading too much into it, but hey, speculating is half the fun!

At first I thought these were fake but then I saw the same user put up those LOTR pics and those look pretty legit and official, so odds are these are indeed legit pics. I know these are just prelims and many things can and most likely will change before these hit shelves next summer, but all I can say is I'm pretty underwhelmed by these. Yes, a LOT of exciting figures, but the sets themselves? Meh. The only one I can even get half excited about is Jabba's Palace, but only for the figures (the set itself seems pretty puny and bland and small). But again, these are prelims, so maybe things will change and maybe once we get clearer and hi-res images I can get more excited. I also find it really weird that we are getting not one, but TWO ships from the new video game, and they look like LARGE sets too. I would guess both ships would fall into the $40 to $60 range judging on size. So Lucasfilm, Lucasarts, and/or LEGO must be really, really, REALLY confident that this game will do well, especially considering that LEGO EU sets usually don't sell that well. So I guess over all I'm feeling meh. They all seem bland. But again, they are just prelims. So I'll be crossing my fingers that the final product turns out much better. On a positive note though it does look like there might be a place to add on other sets on the side of Jabba's Palace (like the old Palace and like the new Hogwarts sets) to maybe beef it up in the future. But then again these are blurry pics, so maybe that is just wishful thinking. And hey, if these do indeed turn out to be sets that just don't strike my fancy, there are still always the exclusive sets to look forward to and at the very least might free up some of my budget to spend on Superhero and LOTR sets instead! Either way, LEGO will be getting a LOT of my money this year!

Oh wow! I really thought all this talk of LOTR in the past few months was just wishful thinking by us fans and that TLG would never, ever actually do this as a theme. Glad to see I was wrong! I am so freaking excited for this line! My girlfriend is going to kill me because I'm already obsessed/spend way too much money on the Star Wars line, and come this summer I'll be adding a second line to obsess over! This is going to kill my wallet, but I don't care! Bring these sets on!

Given how when TLC makes a new mold (in this case the Commando droid head) they tend to use it in future sets whenever they can, I'm sure we'll see these guys again down the road at some point and hopefully by then we'll get their shields. Well, fingers crossed anyways. I mean, it wouldn't be that much different from the Gungan shield that came out this year, just in trans. yellow and a new print.

Comparing the new Friends minifigs to standard System scale minifigs is like comparing apples and oranges. And there have been a few lines in the past with these larger minifigs (I think Technic had large minifigs for a brief period and there was another girl line with large figs in the early or mid 90s I think?) and they never effected any other line that used the standard minifig. So unless something REALLY drastic happens or the market radically changes, we won't be seeing any Star Wars sets with this scale of minifig. Also, if they did suddenly switch Star Wars to this larger size, all sets would have to be double in size and thus double the price tag and I think most of us are already feeling financially strained as it is. So yeah, this new Friends scale figure won't have an effect on Star Wars, or any other System line for that matter. EDIT: I just actually read the review of the set that picture is from and didn't realize how close in size this new scale is compared to the standard minifig (only one LEGO head taller). When I was just looking at the picture I made a guess that it would be double the size, but was wrong on that. Oops! Still, I don't think it'll ever effect lines that use the standard minifig.

I'm loving everything about the Jedi Interceptor set except for the fact that R2's legs just hang out the bottom like that. Sort of wish it was like the old model where you just attach the head. Oh well, all the pros make up for that one huge con, so I'll still get it. I'll just have to display it in a way that hides R2s hanging legs from view or mod it.
-
Wow, that face print looks REALLY faded! Oh well, I'm going to be leaving their helmets on anyways, so I guess for me it doesn't really matter too much. The sand printing on the rest of the figure looks really great though!

Finally bought the Podracer set! And for only $60 (a mix of Amazon's Lightning Deal and the remaining five bucks or so I had on an Amazon gift card)! Bought it as a late birthday present to myself. Can't wait for it to get here!

Well, for the Endor rebel troopers, yes, and it is nice that we are finally getting some in a cheap battle pack. I think we've gotten enough scout troopers already though (unless I'm wrong, they've been in almost every Endor set since the line started with the exception of the two AT-ST sets). I am glad that LEGO is finally acknowledging that Stormtroopers fought in the Battle of Endor and put one in the battle pack instead of two scout troopers. Overall though I'd love to see more Ewoks in the future if they do more Endor sets. I'm sure I'll be eating my own words though in a few years from now when LEGO gives us five sets in a row with nothing but Ewoks and Ewok gilders.
-
I know many people think the tree thing in the Endor BP is lame, but I actually kinda like it. It'll add more forest elements to my growing Endor display. Now I just need to figure out what to do with the FOURTH speeder bike in my collection (fifth if you include the white Hoth speeder bike). I really wish in the future that LEGO would either back off the ground battle of Endor for a few years or at least start making sets based off the Ewok side of the battle (Ewok Village, Battle Wagon, etc). I mean, there are only so many speeder bikes and AT-STs you can release in a given period, right? But overall, these sets are looking awesome. Now time to start saving up some cash.

I love all the details on the ARC (leg printing ), but not a fan of the cloth elements. They look out of place for some reason. I feel they would have looked better if done in plastic. Oh well, still going to buy this set anyways!

I think I like the new print on 3P0. It does have a sort of Clone Wars vibe to it, but that doesn't bother me too much. And it is really nice to finally get printed eyes. He's just going to look so out of place next to all my old 3P0s. Oh well, that's the price of progress, I guess. I'm getting really excited to finally start getting my hands on these sets! Next year can't get here soon enough!

A thought hit me while drooling over these pictures again. When rumors of the winter sets first started hitting a month or so ago, wasn't the Jedi Interceptor rumored to be a Special or Limited Edition set? But in these pictures it doesn't say that anywhere on the box like all previous Special and Limited Edition sets have. So does anyone know if this is still going to be a store exclusive or is it going to be part of the main line-up and available at all stores?
-
Man, I was on the fence for most of these, but now seeing the high-res photos I WANT THEM ALL! I thought the Clone Trooper battle pack was going to be an easy pass for me, but those two clones! And I'm a mostly OT guy and I still want those clones! I give TLC major props for actually giving us a new Nute Gunray. They could have easily just repacked the old one and called it a day, but no, he's all new! So what I'm saying is that all my money is going to be gone again next year.
-
Is that...Lobot I see in the Bespin/Cloud Car planet pack? Also does anyone think that the Cloud Car and AT-ST listed in the new rumor list really meant these small planet sets and not actual sets? I mean, it would be weird for LEGO to release a mini-Cloud Car with Lobot and a System scale Cloud Car with Lobot at the same time, right?

Did really well at an indie/small press comic book show I tabled at this past weekend (made a LOT of sales) so I rewarded myself by stopping by the LEGO store in Woodbridge, VA and picked up the new Ewok Attack. Was the set itself worth $25? Probably not, but hey man, new Ewoks! And it is a nice edition to the Battle of Endor.
-
Dang it! At first the Droid Escape Pod was an easy pass for me (the ship isn't appealing to me at all and I already have a bunch of R2s and 3PO's), and I was happy about that because that would be some money saved. But then they had to go and make awesome new Sandtroopers with sand weathered printing and it's instantly added to my buy list! And does 3PO have a new print as well? I can't tell for sure, but it looks like it. Double dang it! I just hope the model itself is good enough to justify this purchase.
-
Huh...I was REALLY excited about this set so I could further flush out my ever-growing Hoth set-up, but I don't know now. As some people have already said, it doesn't really feel like a Star Wars set and feels like it was meant for another theme. And the fact that it's a Limited Edition means it's most likely going to be REALLY expensive too! Maybe I'll wait for this one if it ever goes on sale. But for all I know, maybe this will be one of those sets that looks horrible in pictures but amazing in person. Will try to wait for a review to come out before passing final judgement I guess. On a plus side though, a red 3PO, injured Luke in underwear, and another Tauntaun are all very cool. So at least there is that, I guess.

Which is your favourite upcoming Lego minifigure in 2011?

After seeing the Toy Fair pictures I had to change my vote from Sebulba to Logray. Sorry, Sebulba!
