  1. Hrm... Don't know how to feel about the Sail Barge. If it is another Jedi Luke and not a random alien henchmen, it'll be upset. But if it's indeed Ree Yees, I'll be ecstatic! I really wish a larger set like this would come with more then 5 standard minifigs though. But as long as three of them are aliens, I can live with that. And the fact we are getting Max Rebo? YESSSS! :D About the ship itself, meh. But it IS prelim, soooo... The Gunship though looks solid (I don't have the previous ones so I can't compare). But a good selection of minifigs that cover the main hero cast of the Arena scene (if the Jedis are indeed Anikin and ObiWan). Wouldn't mind if one of the Jedi were an obscure Jedi and that Jango was there, but hey, maybe they'll show up in another set.
  2. Crossing my fingers seemed to work because I woke up this morning to find 9516 Jabba's Palace waiting for me under the tree! Super happy as it was on the top of my wish list this year. Sadly I have to wait until I fly back home in a few days to open it up and put together.
  3. Got my Christmas present from my brother a day early. 7879 Hoth Echo Base. It's a set that I would never buy with my own money but would gladly accept as a gift (which I did)! Lots of great figures and should fit in nicely with my growing Hoth battle display. Crossing my fingers that Santa leaves some more Star Wars sets under the tree this morning! :D
  4. Man, this set was going to be an easy pass for me since I already have Home Base so don't need another A-Wing. But then I see this review and I'm really tempted to buy it now. I think this is now on my "maybe" list or "for sure buy if I can find it on sale" list.
  5. There's no Weequay in the Skiff set. You're thinking of Kithaba, who is a Klatooinian. Oops, I'm letting my inner nerd show. And yeah, we did get Weequays in Clone War sets, but I really hope that LEGO would throw us a bone and give us a non-Clone Wars Weequay in a Sailbarge set, since we got none in the Palace or Skiff sets.
  6. HOLY COW! I won today! I've never won anything in my life! YAAAAY! And thank YOU, CopMike for running an amazing raffle and offering up amazing prizes! You are AWESOME! Alrighty, now that I got all that excitement out of my system... Any of the other winners interested in swapping for my Oola? (Ew, that sounded weird...) I'm 98% certain I'm getting Jabba's Palace under the tree this year and don't need two of her. I'm mainly interested in swapping her for either Saesee Tiin or Darth Malgus. So if any of the other winners are interested, shoot me a PM. And good luck to everyone still in the running. Happy Holidays and Happy Life Day!
  7. IF the Sailbarge rumor is actually true and it's only going to be 5 or 6 minifigures, my educated guess is that with the exception of Jabba, we probably won't be getting any figures that already came in the Palace, Rancor Pit, or Skiff. And I think/hope LEGO would use the Sailbarge as a chance to give us figs that would fill in any gaps left by the other three sets. My guesses: 1. Jabba (I mean, it IS his Sailbarge) 2. Slave Leia 3. Ree Yees (There was a placeholder for him on the prelim box art for the Palace, so maybe he got moved here?) 4. R2-D2 with server tray (because he'd be easy/cheap for LEGO to do and LEGO would probably want more hero figs in a set packed with baddies) 5. Weequay guard (because I don't think we've ever had a Weequay fig, not counting Clone Wars) The sixth fig would probably be a random alien or maybe another Gamorrean Guard. I really hope that LEGO won't waste a figure space on giving us another Jedi Luke or something. I mean, I could understand why they would though, giving kids a main hero to battle the bad guys. But we've already gotten two Jedi Lukes in the span of a year, so hopefully LEGO can resist the temptation and just give us as many bad guy aliens as they can! I really would hope that if this is going to be a big set (like it should be) that they'd at least throw in a few more figs in there. I mean, we got 9 with the Palace. And this would most likely be our last chance for a long, long while for LEGO to make a lot of Jabba's henchmen and background aliens. Oh well, time will tell. We'll just have to be patient and wait.

  9. Ooooh I forgot that 2013 was the 30th anniversary. Okay, I guess that makes more sense why LEGO would want to rush out the Sail Barge so quickly then and explain all the ROTJ sets we've been getting/will be getting. In that case, fingers crossed for maybe another ROTJ set or two for the summer of 2013. Like...a Limited/Special Edition Ewok Village? Hey, a guy can dream, can't he?
  10. Not too surprised about the Sail Barge (if the rumors are in fact true). LEGO loves reusing new molds every chance they get (since they cost a pretty penny to make), and with the new mold for Jabba in Jabba's Palace it was just a matter of time. I am a little surprised that it would be so SOON after Jabba's Palace though. For one thing, there would be two big sets on the shelves next year with Jabba in them, which to me seems a little weird and also might create confusion with the average buyer/parent. It seems like LEGO decided to quickly burn through all the sets they could make for that part of the Saga. The Palace, Skiff, Rancor Pit, and now (potentially) the Barge. Unless they decide to make any more ad-ons to the Palace (still crossing my fingers for a dungeon/droid torture chamber) or a battle pack filled with random Palace aliens and guards (not holding my breath on that one), LEGO will be pretty much done with anything Return of the Jedi Jabba-related for a long while. Or until five or six years from now when LEGO decides to remake all these sets all over again! But I personally welcome the Sail Barge as I was still in my Dark Ages when the first one came out. I'm just surprised that LEGO decided to put it out so fast after all the other Jabba sets. Of course this could all be a false rumor and I end up with egg on my face.
  11. Huh. The new Hoth set seems like a giant battle pack. Kind of disappointed with it, but only because I was around when the last Hoth Battle Packs came out. But that being said, this set will be great for kids who weren't old enough for or into LEGO yet (or for AFOLs just coming back into the hobby). But for us collectors who've already got all the previous Hoth sets the last few years...meh. That being said, I might pick it up if it's a fair price (which it won't be, because it'll probably be a TRU exclusive) or if it's on sale or clearance. Even though I'm starting to get tired of Hoth sets due to the overkill, I can never say no to adding a few more figures and elements to my ever-growing Hoth battle display. Hopefully this'll be LEGO's last Hoth set for a few years and they can start focusing on other battles/movies/loactions. Fingers crossed. Also, does this mean we'll start seeing THREE exclusives per wave in the Star Wars line? I thought the pattern was always six normal sets (not counting planet sets) and two exclusives per wave, but it looks like this year for the winter wave it'll be six normal. Personally, I don't mind more sets a year (even if my wallet might).
  12. Last Wednesday for my 27th birthday I took advantage of the sale Target was having on Anakin's Jedi Interceptor for $30. And when I was checking out, the cashier gave me an extra five bucks off because she said there was a coupon or something for it. So I got the Jedi Interceptor for only 25 BUCKS! A very good birthday indeed!
  13. Once a year the Rebels and the Empire (and a Wampa or two) put aside their differences and come together for Life Day with a day of peace, exchanging gifts, and coming together. Happy Holidays and Life Day, everyone!
  14. So Disney just bought out Lucasfilm for a cool four BILLION dollars! http://thenextweb.co...cash-and-stock/ Also, Episode VII will come out in 2015. And obviously that will mean LEGO sets for those movies. I've got mixed feelings on this... More Star Wars is always a good thing, in my mind. And a new Star Wars MOVIE! But...it's Disney. But then again, Disney has done well (so far) with Marvel. But still...
  15. And don't forget 9525 Pre Vizsla's Mandalorian Fighter and 9526 Palpatine's Arrest were also SE/LE sets from this year.
  16. One thing I noticed looking over all the photos again. Each set comes with at least one Foot Solider, so if you buy all five sets you can build a small army of them without having to resort to Bricklink or Ebay. Pretty smart on LEGO's part. Man, the more I see from this line, the more and more I like it. I'm really hoping this is a hit and continues for another wave or two.
  17. Oh wow, I'm actually really impressed with the Kraang set. A cheap way to get Mikey, a Foot Solider, AND and brainy Kraang figure? I thought it was going to be an android body Kraang, which I have no interest in, personally. But it's the actual BRAIN! That just made this set a must buy for me. I know it's just a preliminary pic and the final product can/will change, but I'm not really digging Shredder's cycle at all. I mean the cycle itself, it looks very bleh. But I'll have to get it because it's the only way to get Shredder and Don. Sigh. Fingers crossed that the final model of the bike is more impressive.
  18. I am glad that pics finally surfaced, but this wave feels very lackluster. I guess that's ok though, because I have a lot of catching up to do on sets from this year still and am planning on picking up some of the TMNT sets next year. I am for sure picking up the Rancor Pit and clone battle pack. If I didn't already have the Home One set, I'd get the A-Wing, but alas. If it had a Mon Calamari other than Ackbar and an Endor trench coat Han, it would be a must buy. But that new pilot helmet is tempting... maybe if I can find it on sale. The rest of the wave, meh. There are some cool looking figs in there, but overall doesn't appeal to me. But I guess it's a good wave for the Clone Wars fans and collectors. I do have to say that the BARC Speeder set seems like a joke and a slap in the face. $30 American (so says Brickset) for THAT? Yeah, no. Way too much for so little. So a cheap first half of the year for me for Star Wars. Hopefully the second half will see more sets I'd be into and hopefully some Episode 2 and 3 sets. Fingers crossed! Hate to burst your bubble, but I believe the BARC Speeder and UMH Cannon are the two store exclusives this wave.
  19. Well I'll be darned...I didn't notice the different shades of green in the photos. This makes me happy! Good job, LEGO! Still wondering where they can put a second version of Don in this wave though. Maybe the Don shown in the poster is our first hint at a sixth exclusive set?
  20. The sewer set looks kind of dumb yet...I really LIKE it at the same time! I dunno, I think I just have a soft spot for sets that are more "playset" then "vehicle". I am glad it's (most likely) going to be cheaper than the Shellraiser, so I'll probably be able to afford to pick it up. I wonder if we'll actually get two versons of all four turtles like some of us are predicting. I'm starting to think we might not. Based on the pics for three of the five sets we've seen, we are getting TWO Leos, TWO Ralphs, and one Mikey. So if we were getting two versions of each, we still need one Mikey and TWO Dons. The last two sets are most likely the cheapest and smallest sets of this wave so they will include at least one turtle, but since they are most likely small sets I sort of doubt we'll be getting two turtles in a set. My guess is it'll be one turtle and one bad guy per set. And I feel that it's going to be Don that'll be the odd turtle out. Stinks, since he's my favorite. Of course, maybe there is a sixth exclusive set in this wave that we don't know about yet. Fingers crossed! Also interesting to note that they put Leo in the two most expensive sets. Smart for TLG's profits, since fans will now have to buy at least one of the expensive sets if they want all four turtles.

  22. The Shellraiser set is supposed to be $59.99 (US), so if these set listings and numbers are accurate, The Shellraiser is going to be the most expensive set in the wave and everything else will be under $60. So maybe I'll actually be able to afford to pick up a few sets from this line! Yay! Also hoping that if this line does well enough and continues past the first wave, LEGO can throw us older fans a bone or two and release a few sets based on the old cartoons and/or comics or at least a set with Bebop and Rocksteady (I don't think they are in the new cartoon). Fingers crossed!
  23. Actually had some spare cash (something quite rare for a poor cartoonist like myself) and bought my first LEGO sets since last December! 9489 Endor Rebel Trooper & Imperial Trooper Battle Pack and 9496 Desert Skiff. But thankfully my birthday and Christmas are in just a few months, and 95% of my wish list is LEGO, so hopefully those will help make up for almost a full year of not buying any LEGO!
  24. It's a shame all magnets are now glued, because I would have bought the Luke/Emperor/AT-ST Driver and ARF & Bounty Hunter sets in a heartbeat. Oh well, maybe someday TLG will be able to sell non-glued magnets again.
  25. Discusion about the 2013 packaging is already going on over here.
