  1. I like it! You don't often see an alternate build of one set from the instructions of another, and in this case it turned out very nice. Not everything needs to be modular and huge, that's never been the point of town/city. Smaller but detailed creations like this with open backs are still appreciated and needed these days, so it's a pleasure to see this. Welcome to EB, that's a nice way to introduce yourself.
  2. That's the problem with this whole situation. We have that coincidence on one side and then on the other we're told of a hidden investigator who got two scum results on his first two tries, which is also very unlikely out of such a large group. Then Pvt. Gale reveals his moustache evidence AFTER being accused. I mean, wasn't that awfully lucky of him to get such important information at just the right moment to take attention away from the accusations towards him? I don't trust anyone right now. You're all full of coincidences and I have a strong aversion to coincidence. I'm going back to my tent to build a fireplace now.
  3. Goofy woman. Digging through things. Looking for treasure. Theft. Sounds like something an interior decorator looking to replicate the temple for her rich clients would do. *points the gun at our resident interior designer and waits for some comment*
  4. *points at the body* Now see? That's how dead people are supposed to look, not just a skeleton with a wig. I consider this further proof that courtyard boy was a fake used to cover what's-his-names separating from the group, probably to do bad things like this. *points at the body again* And, to his left, you'll notice ... Tour guide humour. RIP Willoughby. I DO! I'd like to see if this tooth I found fits in the dragon head and then try moving the head to see if it does anything. While I'm at it, I'll investigate the other tooth for blood, but I think Sigourney is right, rifled pockets are not a sign of supernatural killing, but good, old fashioned human evil, the kind this baby can stop. *pats the gun* Finally, something useful to do. Roster, eh? I'm sure he meant rooster. Poor old guy had an unhealthy obsession with cocks, though I guess it could be roster. Maybe he's telling us that someone on the tour isn't who they claim to be and to check the roster, wherever that might be.
  5. I have a crazy idea! How about both of our supposed investigators actually target the same person tonight and report back? I'd suggest they investigate each other, but one is still hiding. I don't know who to trust anymore. He has a fireplace in his tent???
  6. If I have to be pwned, I can't think of anyone better to have that honour than Sieggy. As for you... I'm not taking the bait, oh former stalker of mine, but nice try.
  7. I only meant pushing him so hard since I thought you knew he was unable to respond. Since you didn't know, it doesn't look so unusual. As for pushing myself, I would if I knew where to push, but right now we've got a lot of people talking in all kinds of directions and not a lot of proof of anything, so for me it's more important to listen and hope to spot the truth within the babble. The third option is that everyone is telling the truth from their own point of view, but one is paranoid as Pvt. Perot suggested earlier. It makes the whole thing most confusing to me. It is like the person who always lies and the person who is always truthful, but one gets hit in the head and everything goes funny.
  8. $40 each is waaaaay too much. $40 for all of them, assuming they are decent cardboard displays or have the plastic domes, maybe, but you have to really be interested in that kind of thing, they aren't good sellers.
  9. A fascinating bit of EB history and a logical feature to enable. While it may be considerably after the fact, I add my support to this decision.
  10. Then, much like your face, this is a weird feature. I really didn't know that. Must have been decided before I was staff.
  11. Which part of my reply didn't you understand?
  12. Fairly common problem with the forum software (IPB), but it catches up eventually.
  13. No rush! *leads the group in a rousing chorus of Let's All Go to the Lobby!* I could really use some junior mints now.
  14. I think that's the same key, the one in Jack's missing pocket that ended up falling from the ceiling. Now there's a sentence you don't see everyday. Well fine, we've seen the creepy moving statue that now sits comfortably on a treasure chest in a pirate ship room in a spooky old temple, let's all go to the library! (sung to the tune of "Let's all go to the lobby!")
  15. Since you should know that he is currently on border patrol duty and won't be available for another day or so, I'm a little curious why you're pushing so hard. He can't exactly reply from the woods. (Dragonator notified the staff that he will be out of town for an academics related event and won't be back until tomorrow night, his time) As for the rest of the discussion... Good lord, the clues we are not getting for days and then now we are drowning in them, but we are not knowing the truths from the falsehoods. I am going to continue to observe and see what is developing, like a fine wine I think this will all come to it's full value in time.
  16. Looks like the Imperial construction team took Moff Jerjerrod's friendly advice and doubled their efforts to get so much done with such accuracy. Even the unforgiving Emperor will be pleased. Sometimes a build like this will feel overdone, but in this case, despite the scale and the sheer number of figures, it feels perfect. That's a tough balance to get and you've managed it expertly. Great job guys!
  17. So you'd still have to print the decal on paper first? Yeah, that wouldn't go well. For a simple design, like numbers for a license plate it might be ok, but for a minifig not so much. I wonder what other kinds of devices exist for that purpose that might be better suited to the quality needed for the job. Hmmm.
  18. Was it basically a colour copier? If so, in what form would the decal need to be in and wouldn't it just be easier to use sticker paper in a printer? I mean, it sounds like an interesting idea, but we're going to need more details unless someone remember the thing precisely.
  19. Brilliant show, funny in the way that funny should be, on different levels for different people. It could have easily just parodied James Bond episode after episode, but instead if took on a variety of other influences and frequently did the unexpected in hilarious ways. I haven't seen many shows that could pull off the same thing (the absurdly hilarious "Sledgehammer!" in the 80's, perhaps), and absolutely none today. I have the boxset of the series and it's great, plenty of extras and good quality transfers. I haven't seen the movie, though I had at least heard it was better than the ill-fated Andy Dick series that lasted a whopping 12 episodes or something. I rarely think the modern version of anything is as good as the original (Wild Wild West, anyone?), but I do intend to give this movie a try if for nothing more than the bit of nostalgia that I hope it contains.
  20. Seedy-licious! It's full of character(s). What more is there to say? It's refreshing to see a nice looking roof that doesn't require anything overly bizarre. The walls are very white, especially the side walls, that's probably it's biggest weakness, though I'm not sure how to solve it without more ivy/plants. Overall, a fine presentation of a style of building we don't often see in LEGO, which is always nice. I'll give this a 972.
  21. We also 'heard' from the Lt. that he was outside, not inside when attacked, but Pvt. Gale says otherwise. I do not know what we are to believe or not now, except that nothing we saw may be right. I do not know why we see anything we can't rely on, but there it is.
  22. The one that delivered the white bunny?
  23. A common misconception. Without spoiling much, I'll explain a little. Your first mission gives you the ability to control time. Without completing it, you technically die at the end of the first three days. There is no logical reason to allow this, but it can happen. It's amusing, in a way. Once you can control time, you set out to do lots of little things in particular story arcs within a three day period. Once you've done a particular chore/job, you don't have any real reason to repeat it, so it isn't like repeating the same game over and over. When you enter a dungeon, time stops. You can't hit the three day limit while in there, so time isn't as daunting as it seems. The time limit is less about a limit and more about a sequence of events and scheduling things. If everything happened at the same time, you'd never be able to achieve all of your goals. To give a specific example, I'll make something up. Let's say you meet someone who wants to deliver something to a specific person, but that person is somewhere else and only there during a set time. In order to get there, you might have a number of other things to do. Your time challenge is doing all the things you need to do to achieve that and meet the person you're trying to deliver to at the right time. If you miss, at the end of three days you start time over and yes, you would lose all progress in that particular arc, but not any dungeons you'd beaten or other achievements made. You do have the option to keep a journal of achievements and that carries over, as I recall (it's been 6 years since I played it?). Sometimes it's all about getting a bottle or opening something so that in another story arc, you can use that to achieve something else. It's complicated and was a pretty daring way of doing things, and being so different from the norm, it isn't as popular is it probably should be. Plus, without Zelda or Ganon, it's a little like Link's Awakening: you know you're in a Hyrule type place, but it isn't and few of the usual things are there. You will, however recognise a few people and types of people and some parallel concepts between MM and OoT. Overall, it's a worthwhile play, it's just going to require a different way of thinking to really get into it. The dungeons are as good as you'd hope, though, and the errands are interesting enough. It's a little like a soap opera in spots as you learn about the lives of people, not unlike the teacher and her plots in WW. Play it, it's a good time.
  24. Why is it unfortunate at this point? Yes, at one time the Chinese produced figures (primarily Gear figures as opposed to sets) were coming out at a lower quality, but TLG acknowledged that problem and by all indications, things are back to normal. Continuing to automatically equate what you assume is Chinese made with lower quality only truly diminishes the product in your own mind. Pointing out a legitimate problem would be a different situation, but as it stands, no one has done that, they've just fallen back on the "OMG! ARM MARK! CHINESE!" nonsense. The colour/translucency problems predate the Chinese factory, so pinning that on them is silly. The arm and neck changes are just a product of the times and I can guarantee that as each factory is brought up to date and moulds are replaced, you won't be able to tell where anything is made anymore. These just happen to be made from those new moulds. If you want to gripe about moulds, start a topic about sprue marks in weird places and I'll join right in. At some point, people need to get over the hysteria and simply look at each product individually as it comes out. It would be like saying that a particular auto maker put out a bad car in the past, therefore all of their cars are bad. It's silly and it doesn't serve any purpose, so in the future, I might start closing topics that get detoured in this way, or simply removing members who can't seem to move on and stick to the subject at hand which is not idle speculation about a quality problem that appears to have been resolved. When someone can post an up-to-date fair comparison of something and indicate the problem, then that's the place for such talk. Until then, this isn't.
