??? Druth Castle Roof Nothing happens. That was a bit of an anticlimax. Did you push it hard enough? Do I look weak to you, woman? Well, you are pretty old. You seem to forget that when you're chasing after me. I never said you were too old. Great. Now what? I have this book that might help. Strantor produces a small book, which he hands to Aluvar. Aluvar begins thumbing through the chapters. AHA! Oh crap. Alvy! Oh, excuse me, I'm sorry. What's wrong? Well, according to this, it only works during a full moon. That's a week away! I have some ideas for how we can pass the time. We may not have a week. We may have a year. We can't take chances standing around. Oh honey, there wasn't going to be much standing involved. Aluvar begins spiraling his hands, bringing them together with a clap. The wind howls, but everything else appears the same. New dance step? No. We just jumped forward a week. Spoilsport. I didn't even feel it! He's smooth. He's had a lot of time to practice. So have you, my dear. Shall we not talk about that now? Fine. Aluvar reaches out with his staff again and presses the button. All hell breaks loose. K-19 Crown Kingdom Castle Town A Dark Alley If what he told us is correct, this is the place. This is a really bad side of town. I've never been here before. It doesn't seem that bad. What about that? Shadows glances over and sees a very large man approaching carrying an axe in one hand and a strange shield in the other. Ah. Is that really all you have to say about the matter? He looks dangerous! Aren't you going to do something? Of course I am. Shadows steps towards the man, a scowl on his face. The man bares his teeth and growls. Shadows does the same in return. Poor lad has flipped. Flipped what? His wig. He wears a wig? Er. No. It's... nevermind, we're all going to die, why does it matter? Fair enough point, but if he wears a wig, I'd like to know about it. He doesn't. I don't think. How should I know? Shadows takes another step toward the man, who takes another step toward him. You lousy, no good, son of a troll, I thought I warned you what would happen if I ever ran into you again like this. You did. It's time. That it is. The man extends his arm, handing Shadows his axe, then his shield. What the... Hello Princess. Uh. Hello. Do I know you? I wouldn't think so. I'm not from now. Here. No, now. Or here, You're half right there. Oh no. You're another one of those. Allow me to introduce Glarg, my personal assistant. Personal assistant? He runs errands, gathers information, occasionally kills people that get in my way. K-k-k-kills people that get in your way... Shadows and Glarg start laughing. You always like them gullble, huh Shadows? Shush. Always, huh? Looks like we have some talking to do, Glarg. Yeah, maybe later, right now we're supposed to be on a mission. Now he gets serious about the mission... Shadows explains the plan to Glarg, who seems all too familiar with this kind of operation. After a few minutes, he leaves. That didn't seem to do us much good. Oh, you have no idea. Let's go. Where? The Rusty Pike. Oh great. Still taking me to all the nicest places. That's where our skellie is operating out of, so I think it's reasonable to go there. So, what's the plan? Stay out of the way. Well, I never! That's what I'm worried about... ??? The terrain is rocky and shrouded in fog. Lush vegetation grows everywhere. The sound of water can be heard in the distance. Aluvar... where are we? I have no idea. If this is where attackers are sent, and it's supposed to trap them, how exactly do we get back home? Aluvar and Elmyra look at each other for a moment, then at Strantor, then all around. You know... I wish you'd asked that BEFORE we came here. Oh. Well... A strange man walks up. Oh, hello there! You must be the replacements for the show! I'm your host, Hank Hinckle-Dinkleman! Grab your stuff and follow me, we've got to get filming, we're behind schedule! Hank walks off, still talking. I know where we are now. Where? Hell.

Fabuland Builders Guild - Discussion Thread
Shadows replied to Shadows's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I was being kind, for the benefit of everyone else. Did you see the original form of this conversation? -
This predates my joining the site, and it looks like it was a good conversation that I'm sure could use revisiting. I own all of your examples except that Ninja Princess, and she is on my "actively seeking" list, much as this lovely was until recently. So, in terms of favourites, I tend to think of what I don't have, as opposed to what I do, which is probably the wrong way to look at it, but that's how it goes. Basically, I'm buying all the female castle/ninja figures I can find. I think I own every adventurers figure made, or close to it (they aren't hard to get), which leaves Wild West, and I'm close to having all of those as well. It's technically Pirates, but I really need one of these (and he works well in historical non-Pirate settings as well). So, in a way, that does fit the subject, since those are my most desired minifigs. In terms of things that don't exist: 1. Any military of any country, ever. 2. Generic Castle folk. 3. Female figures in any historical line (or current line for that matter).

Fabuland Builders Guild - Discussion Thread
Shadows replied to Shadows's topic in Special LEGO Themes
The Fabuland Edge is explained in this very thread, but for those of you who have short attention spans... The Fabuland Edge is the unexpected, and somewhat darker side of life, represented in sharp contrast to the bright and cheery nature of Fabuland. For example: A parrot eating a chicken/turkey leg. Think about that for a minute. See how that works? And yes, the at the end is important, it's like getting the punchline to the joke. Unless it takes you too long, then we all know you didn't really get it and we're ing at you. Class dismissed! -
Scrooge McDuck. I'd honestly prefer the Duck Tales version, as he looks a little less tattered and old. Like so: A whole gallery of general Disney character pics.

I just want to take a second to commend you on the incredible job you're doing with these requests. I've been really busy with projects, and I sincerely appreciate you keeping up with all they seem to be able to throw out there. I'd also like to take a moment to ask that those who request decals and actually use them, take the time to photograph their results and add it to the thread where your decal is posted. It really adds a lot to the whole process, and serves as a great learning tool both for yourself and everyone else. Thanks again!

Still not sure where I pulled that one out of. Please, feel free to give them any background you want, remembering that Aluvar had dealt with their kind before and they are working for/with an evil of such magnitude that it hasn't been identified yet, so other evil characters have some kind of hierarchy, but it isn't well defined at this point. That includes Aluvar's undead son, an old Skellie general and any number of others who are not officially sactioned by the skellies themselves. Revolutionaries, of a sort, suckered into thinking that the evil is on their side, when it reality, it only intends to consume everyone. Sorry I haven't been chaptering it up lately, I've just been really busy and felt like my characters were drifting in and out of mostly funny situations. I intend to add an Aluvar story, this evening, involving the search for that ultimate source of evil in some kind of weird alternate universe. Or something. I won't know until I write it. That's how this works for me.

It's a real contest for fun. Only you can decide if you won. Personally, I think that everyone who participated is a winner! Well, not that one with the weird Ophelia reference. Nobody got that.

Disney Decals to Accompany tin7's Sculpted Heads
Shadows replied to Shadows's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Added to the first post. I don't like the belt much, but it's pretty much accurate. I may add Winky. We can do him in all minifig form, at least. I'd add the judge but that wig... Oh, thanks. -
Just great! Seriously, all of your work has been excellent, and I'm especially happy with Toad and Moley.

Disney Decals to Accompany tin7's Sculpted Heads
Shadows replied to Shadows's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Scrooge and Donald may have different heads, but I think Daisy, Huey, Dewey, and Louie all match (though size would differ). No problem. I've added Moley to the first post. No, they're very good (though that Tarzan chest looks like it's staring at me... CREEPY!). It's a shame you aren't going with the Genie face that way, it's actually incredibly good. I might strip out the blue and see about using it as a normal face for something, if you don't mind. Only thing to watch out for is colour matching. Try to remember that we have to give up a bit of accuracy to the original subject in favour of matching the official LEGO parts you plan to attach your decals to. I also assume that matching anything to painted Sculpey will be an issue, but that's something I don't know about. If you have any questions about colours and their official LEGO counterparts, you might refer to my custom colour chart, just remember, everything prints differently, so it can be a case of trial and error to get it right. -
You're teasing us with this coverage, but it's all been good so far. I offered Jipay some of my clam cream sundae, but he just kept making that face at me. Sure beats the food in the Mystery Castle, I know that much, and we had great seats for the show. I especially appreciated how all the women would lean in to get a closer look. And yeah, I see Jocko and maybe UB, though it's hard to tell because he's both blurry and facing the wrong way, which is pretty much how he usually looks.

Is this going to be a regular feature of your Ambassadorship? If so, I'm gonna be broke by the time the year is up. Yeah, I just dropped a couple of bills.

The one in the middle facing the wrong way is you. The one in the back dogging the camera is Hinck. I ought to move this to Star Wars, but I guess it's general LEGO since Gizmodo has done so many stories lately and they're all linked. -

I added that version to the first post with a more open version of the coat and less detail, but it's accurate to that shot now. -

I can do that, though I really like the first style more. What was that from, a painting in Toad Hall? That's what I want to see. Toad Hall. If he's really interested in doing the heads, I'll do them. That scene keeps making me wish for Scrooge McDuck... -
tin7 has been working on sculpey Disney heads, and with tremendous results. The next phase in the minifig creation process is the torso decal, which is where I come in. I'm not doing all of them, but the ones I do will appear here. Links take you to the sculpted head threads. Sample pics are full size, decals are thumbnails and clickable. J. Thaddeus Toad Mr. Mole (Moley) Mr. Rat (Ratty) Scrooge McDuck (Ducktales) The strips under the torso are meant to go around his cuffs, as shown. Mickey Mouse Donald Duck (Park and Cartoon versions) Pooh and Piglet Front and back for Pooh. Piglet's works as both front and back. Tigger Front and back for Tigger.

Wow! Just, wow. You're very good with the sculpey, and fast at it. I want one of these. NEED one. Seriously, it looks great, I don't know how you do it. I'll see what I can do later tonight on those decals you requested. -
Imagine a commercial between each one, or at least some dramatic music occasionally.

Ick. You'd need a magnifying glass to see that thing, especially being so light and non-contrasting. Ist there any chance of something reading FBG in the original colours? I can't tell which side of the argument you're taking here. -
It's literally going out as we speak, so prepare to be boarded by news bearing pirates! Harr Ye, Harr Ye! *chortle*

Dragonbreath Dragonator forgot to remind everyone to PM him their night actions, so I'm mentioning it now. Thanks!

I doubt it will be the last.
