  1. Fair enough, and a good clarification on your part. I really was beginning to wonder if all of this was normal. It's a good one when you're really sure, but a bit nerve-wracking that night, hoping you were right. Especially since the nights take so long around here. It's my new bodyguard. ... and the pigeon people want to have a word with you.
  2. I am not talking to Lady Dolores. That decaying old busybody was annoying when she was alive, and now she's even worse. I did nothing of the sort, I simply asked for a clarification on clothing and you decided to reveal your night action and ramble on. Oh, and I don't know my damn name either. As for trying to prove your point, you weren't, you were trying to mislead us into making a decision based on a night action that didn't happen and then got mad that the deception was revealed. It doesn't mean you're wrong, it just means you feel very strongly about wanting that decision made. Personally, I find that offering to kill yourself if you're wrong works better. That said, if we go by your painting theory and Dragonator isn't misleading us again, you're right, it has to be Marcus. It confuses me that Lord Ash would hire Calvin to reveal Marcus as a traitor, thus selling out his own, but maybe that's how this all works, I wouldn't know, I'm not Mr. I've-Played-All-These-Before. I don't think we have much choice at this point, but if it turns out wrong, I'm voting for you tomorrow. Vote: General Marcus/Batbrick I will say this: Your entire "he's too involved" argument will gain a lot of points if it turns out that Marcus is a traitor, since he flat out gave it away with the picture, leaving nothing to the imagination. Still, it would be good to score another win, even an easy one.
  3. Can someone translate Lord SlapstickComedy up there for me? If you read it right, it starts to look like he's claiming to be upset that a killer has been revealed, or he wants us to think that he's upset that a killer has been revealed so we'll assume that Marcus is a killer. Either way, doesn't that make his Lordship a traitor? Otherwise, why be upset about the possible revelation of a killer? Now I'm not saying he is a traitor, but he's sure giving me reason to wonder about his loyalty or his sanity, and I'm not sure which at this point. Fortunately, we've all learned not to jump to conclusions, as we did with poor Lord Martin, so I'm not quite ready to have him committed, either to an asylum or the executioner. Now I'll admit, assuming the host isn't being used as part of the deception, I don't think he should come in and contradict things we say, but in this case, you did involve him by making it seem that he didn't perform a night action you asked for, which ended up being your mistake and not his. So I don't really think his clarification of that was giving anything away that you haven't already blathered about yourself, but I do agree that he shouldn't have discussed the night 3 action. Similarly, if I came in and said, "oh no, I wasn't in that room with Mary, I was actually down the hall using my special super hero night action following the killer and it was Lord Slappypants, I saw him plain as day!", I would expect Dragonator to contradict me. So, you're both wrong! Go sit in a corner. And it was Grim, by the way. Dung is what seems to be flying around the room looking for a fan to hit, but since they haven't been invented, it's confused, as we all are now. This day isn't going well. It isn't going well at all...
  4. I don't understand the "attempted to block General Marcus from using his night actions" part. Were you told that your attempt was thwarted, or are you just assuming that? (OOC: Never having played one of these before, I'm always surprised at the kinds of night actions that are out there). If you know this for a fact, then I might have to go along with you, but I can't do it solely on the clothing thing, since Dragonator refuses to clearly confirm that clothing can't be changed, and both Generals have the same cape and either could be trying to mislead us. Heck, they could be working together. One murders poor Grim, the other confesses to an unrelated murder, we split votes and no one dies, then they kill us in our sleep. (next post, but it'll merge) Well great, now Dragonator says you didn't do that, so I don't know what to believe anymore. All we know is that Marcus has some night action that you prevented by whacking him in the head (that figures ). It might be investigating, it might be murder, it might be tiddlywinks in the garden. No one is helping here!
  5. Another clear and direct answer telling us absolutely nothing, great... Looks like we can't count on the clothes, but I do think Majiko was telling us to count on the cape. That means one of our Generals. So we have the one accused by the employee of a traitor vs the one who confesses to murdering a loyalist. Great. Thanks for all the help, Mr. WashandFold.
  6. It does seem like everything and everyone who can is pointing at General Marcus. I don't find it surprising that we'd have a bad General, but now we have one being accused and another who admits to murdering a loyalist. I don't know where to go now. I have a feeling I could use a guard, I just wish I could be sure who to trust.
  7. You know, Dragonator wouldn't be so kind as to give us a free shot at the killer, unless he's being deceptive in the process. Look at how this has gone so far? Everything has been misleading from him. Still, it's a clue to be checked out... (OOC: Someone have the link to the character pics?) I don't know, his cooking always seemed German to me. Makes my question all the more important.
  8. I hadn't even considered that, but it does seem possible. Clearly, Grim was concerned for my safety, then he's killed outside the room I'm, um, visiting... I think you may be right. It would seem that I have attracted the attention of the traitors after our recent successes. Oh yes, my dear, I know it's hard. (OOC: Oh please, I was supposed to pass that up? ) But he wasn't interested in you, he was protecting me, it's neither of our faults, this guilt belongs to the traitor who killed him so coldly. We must avenge his death, we must find the man in the yellow cape and guards uniform. Oh dear. I'm left to wonder why you would make this confession now, right after another murder by someone in a yellow cape. Attempting to throw us off the trail, or sincerely feeling guilty for a mistake... I don't know what to think anymore, but I'm a little concerned that you can kill people in the night, and the one time you confess to doing it, you killed a loyalist. Freudian slip? Noooooo... not Earnest too! It was bad enough when Ernst killed himself, but Earnest... this is terrible!
  9. This is most upsetting... A loyal guard and a true friend, seeking to protect me in the night, murdered by a wretched traitor. Every time we think we're getting a handle on this situation, they manage to kill someone else. This scourge must be stopped before it's too late! *walks off, more confused then ever and mumbling to himself* Why??? (OOC: Are we to consider the images accurate? In other words, do we know that the traitorous murderer wore a yellow cape and had a blue left arm, or is that more "the skull means he's dead" creative license?)
  10. Well, it means that out of the torsos in that case, every one of them has been officially released, or is known to be coming, except 2, the pirate and the farmer overalls next to him. I don't recognise the harbour one in front of him, but I assume it's from a set I just don't have. That has to mean something, either an official line or one in the works. This display is far too new to be anything vastly outdated. The paradisa/surfboard figure is used periodically, including in a recent blue bucket. It's a nice, generic male figure usually. Mixed parts are no issue, they're real parts arranged in interesting combinations. That said, I think we're looking at a real printed torso, at the very least. If it will ever be released or not is the question, but almost everything else in there has. Some of the new hair designs are nice too, and not really much of a jump to picture being real.
  11. I find it very unlikely that SirNadroj is playing a game here. If there is any mistake, it would be on the part of the store for displaying something that might not be official, assuming they aren't. Looking it up, the store has only been open for a couple of weeks? It's possibly they're still changing displays around, and had put something out that they weren't supposed to, then removed it. I've examined a few pictures of the store, but haven't found any good display shots so far. Enfield is the North American headquarters for LEGO. At one time, they shipped S@H orders from there as well, and I assume that promotional displays still would, as the offices and representatives of the company are located there (but normal inventory shipping moved to a cheaper location). SCORE! I knew that with enough effort, I could find a pic of this online somewhere else. From the grand opening of the Chandler store, here is another pic of that figure case, including one of the new pirates (and a new style of overalls and some hair and face variations). That pretty much ends that speculation.
  12. Fascinating discovery. I certainly don't recognise either torso (though the officer looks a little like a custom I've seen. With all of the pirate-friendly parts we've been seeing lately, from sabres to alligators and sharks, I can see where they might be working toward a new line, it's just odd that they would let even preliminary figures out the door. That said, anyone in the Chandler, AZ area who can get some nice pics of those entire cases, with lots of closeup shots of all of the figures displayed, would be doing a nice service to the community. *hint hint* Great find, SirNadroj!
  13. Scrooge, Pooh and Piglet added. Pooh and Piglet are very plain, but cartoon accurate. Scrooge is pretty close, but I'm not happy with the way the dark blue looks, though it is the official LEGO colour. It's hard to really do much about that.
  14. Who cares? I know it sounds a little blunt, but who cares about the counters? They're a vanity issue, and one that I never thought was particularly important. That said, I think they're doing some work on the site. I have folders that haven't been moderated in weeks. I think I'll leave this here for now, but later it will be merged into the old Brickshelf problems thread.
  15. I'm not sure about Scrooge, I think it ended up too big, mostly too wide. I like the glasses and how the hat works for him, but the head itself is definitely too wide. It's probably because of the meet and greet versions of the characters being so disproportionate to the animated versions and my being used to the Duck Tales version the most. As for decals, I'll keep doing what I can. I finished Ratty in my thread and will pick up Scrooge, then Pooh and Piglet next, assuming they wear clothes. Oh, yeah, Pooh wears a shirt at least. I can't remember Piglet at all. Google to the rescue.
  16. I had to make some modifications to the review as I had some of the background information wrong. This torso first appeared in 1982, to my surprise, and then again in 1985 before appearing in this set. I actually have some of the parts from the 1982 set, which I will try to restore. I picked them up in a huge random printed parts lot on eBay. Sadly, they're stickers and not printed, but in incredibly good shape for their age (the clear ones like these have always stayed in better condition than the others). I found myself doing a little of that as I took the pics. YES! That would be a great addition to Classic-Town as well: A Gallery of Classic Pictures from your Towns of the Past! That's an incredible idea, WhiteFang! Please do, that one looks very nice in red. Count on some kind of silly special appearance in any review I do. Almost anyone could appear, but it'll mostly be female minifigs to drive home the point that we need more of them.
  17. I will assume that you actually mean No_Name. Those capital letters are important after all, huh? Please PM an administrator if you wish to regain access to that account and then don't use this one again.
  18. I'd never seen it before, either. I bought it less than a month ago on eBay for $2. Bought 5 auctions from the same seller, but the others were all Classic Space and Castle (and about $4 a pop ). The three printed pieces are absolutely perfect, as is the minifig, so I was very happy, even without a box. Now the problem is, that's all of my currently assembled Classic Town, aside from a couple of Paradisa sets that Alice also has and will be doing (heck, one of them is the one Hinck plans to do too, so I don't think we need 3 reviews of it, even with the pony ). That forestwoman was from a $20 buy that included the whole set and all the minifigs from Forestman's Crossing and a pile of other sets worth no less than $100+ easy. I'm currently searching for more deals, and will review anything I can buy cheap.
  19. INDEXED Number: 6521 Name: Emergency Repair Truck Year: 1987 Pieces: 59 Minifigs: 1 Price: ? In 1987, the Mayor of LEGOLAND accidentally crashed his car into a fence outside of town. The incident was a bit suspicious, but the Mayor claimed that his dizzyness had been caused by over-the-counter allergy medicine and the police quickly closed the case. That, however, wasn't the end of the story. Having been forced to stumble walk a full 3 blocks back to town, the Mayor was tremendously concerned about his inconvenience public safety and vowed that this would never happen again. As a result, the LEGOLAND Highway Department added the Emergency Repair Truck to the fleet a week later and placed it under the watchful eye of his lazy brother a valued member of the community. The Emergency Repair Truck cruises the roads and highways of LEGOLAND, bringing much needed help to stranded motorists and occasionally picking up the Mayor's dry cleaning. Let's take a look at this important little vehicle. The typically folded instructions make quick work of the assembly. You could be on the road in 10 minutes or less if you simply follow them, step by step. The left side of the vehicle, including his mounted wrench/spanner. The right side of the vehicle, including his mounted mallet/hammer. The Highway Department Emergency Serviceman steps out to show you that this truck, 4-wide though it may be, still features a convenient door for him to exit from. He holds his favourite wrench/spanner, which is something of a trademark item in his line of work. His jacket features the Highway Department logo, a zipper, and a convenient pocket. Here you see the printed pieces, which come in the form of the Highway logo on a pair of side panels and a picture of his wrench/spanner on a 1x4 tile attached to the roof alongside emergency lights and a radio antenna. When you see this bright yellow beauty coming, you know that help has arrived. *starts the movie projector* Now, let's take a look at a day in the life of a Highway Department Emergency Serviceman. After a long lunch, our intrepid hero sets out in search of motorists in distress. As he rounds the curve at the end of System Dr, he see a woman standing with her horse. As he is about to pass her, he notices how attractive she is, and decides to back up and talk to her. They appear to be in distress! And she's attractive! Er. She needs help! Yes, that's it! He immediately pulls over and approaches the woman, hoping to be able to assist her in her plight. Excuse me ma'am, I couldn't help but notice that you seem to need some help. Oh yes, that would be lovely. I'm looking for Forestman's Crossing. Forestman's Crossing? I've never heard of it. I'm sorry, ma'am. No matter, we'll find it, it must be around here someplace. Did you try that shelf over there? *points* Excellent idea, lad, thank you so much! Bye! And there you have it, another motorist citizen helped. Just another day in the life of one of those unsung heroes of LEGOLAND, the Highway Department Emergency Serviceman. What will he do tomorrow? His job, of course, after a long lunch. Where will it take him? Anywhere he's needed on the streets of LEGOLAND. Thank you for joining me! *turns off the projector* Featuring useful parts, including 3 that are printed, a nice printed minifigure that hadn't appeared very often previously, and a couple of handy tools, this set offers a lot at what must have been a very small price. I'd give it a 10/10 and be happy to buy several of them today, if they were available. If you would like to make your own Hero of the Highways™, you could use the blue torso decal from the Classic-Town Decal Library, or, if you'd like to make some coworkers for him in different branches of the Highway Department, you could try some of these never-before-seen unofficial colour variations.
  20. What can one possibly say on such an auspicious occasion? I wouldn't know where to begin. *pulls out a stack of papers* The 80's. What do they mean to me? For LEGO, it means the classics: Town, Castle, Space, Pirates. Sets that should always be cherished and never forgotten, just as ... *music begins playing* What? Hurry it up. I just started! Well, finish! FINE! *clears throat* I've been informed that I need to wrap this up now. The 80's was also the decade when true beauty was born in the form of my beloved, the saintly and noble Alice, for whom words fail to adequately describe the sheer magnitude of ... *the music starts over, louder* RIGHT! Classic LEGO and true Love. Products of the 80s, locked forever in my heart. Happy birthday, Alice! You kids will want to turn your heads now. *they lock in a kiss that fogs up your screen* *shadows wipes off the screen from the inside when they're done* Almost forgot... Happy Birthday Dragonator! May your scales never rust. Oh, and you too Evil Willy, whoever you are.
  21. Right, but only when he's joking... He might as well just put it in his sig.
  22. Wouldn't a great night action punishment be to do either their night action on them, or the opposite of it, depending on the kind... It's just the sort of mixed up magic we could expect from our resident wizard, isn't it?
  23. I took over the show in a bloodless revolution, all part of my little plan for world domination, just as is always the tradition in these things. Now enough of that, back to Fabuland business! If you want to continue this, take it to the EB News Index where it belongs.
  24. 2 words, eh? "You're fired."
  25. Agreed. Pacing is vital if we're to keep people involved. We're having a hard enough time with it as it is.
