  1. Thats cool I was more spitballing ideas than anything else. so with the fantasty era sets we have Crown Guild, Dwarven (or miners) Guild and such
  2. Microscale map sounds great and I like the idea of guilds too, you could go obvious Warriors Guild Mage Guild Theives Guild or you could go more Lego Like Falcon's Guild Forestmens Guild Lion's Guild Im sure you get the idea
  3. This is fantastic, My fav game of all time combined with my fav thing of all time, ohh my god, I love the cave with the entrance to the vault(the dead just need some signs ) and the vault entrance is awersome, I love the way your vault has turned to hell already (it so true to the game). Keep it up I can't wait to see more

  7. I really like the tags I plan on looking at all the sets of castle I have done, classic, crusader, falcon and forestmen so far and I plan to keep going, I don't know if this is somehting you need or what, but a place for all castle articles would be good as mine could go there. Again, this might all be useless for what you have in mind, so for that I apoligise. Cheers all
  8. I also like this series because it reminds me so stronly of the sets of my childhood (late 80s early 90s), I find it very hard to image that TLC are going to release this set and then nothing else because it won't sell as well without some new supporting sets. That being said, they did the same thing with the Imperial Falgship, but that was to make room for POTC so if the Joust has to be our last set, it will dissapoint me again, but I could probably grow to love the new thing (as I did with POTC). Fingers crossed LEGO dosen't do that to me again,as I was really getting into pirates from 2009 and I have really enjoyed Kingdoms
  9. Here is my two cents on the sets Red Beard Runner 6289 Noooooo! Gimmicks no please not gimmicks. The ship features a back that can fall off and a mast that can lean to the side, my question is why are these features needed, Lego in and of itself is a construction toy, why do we need to have a feature to show destruction when you can simply destroy it and make it up again, Lego you have missed the fundamental joy of what you are. What is the cost of having this magic feature? No Cabin, we have a large ship but no cabin for its mighty captain. To hammer the final nail home in the coffin that is the Red Beard Runner, we have the sails, a ship this large and we only get one sail per mast (it’s usually two) and it’s ripped, dreadful. On the plus side we get a nice variation of minifigs and two black bandanas, which I believe are very rare. But if the best thing I can say for a ship is that we have black bandanas then it does not look good. Compared to the previous two ships, this is a big letdown. Brickbeard’s Bounty 6243 I really like this ship because it actually brown (and hence made of wood) the cabin in the back can be lifted off and there is enough gold trimming to make even the royal family blush, the hull itself is just very pretty. It should also be noted that the ship is they only one to include opponents (in another blue rowing boat, yay) and a prisoner (the beautiful admiral’s daughter), which is why I can forgive the small number of actual pirate crew members. The set is severally let down by its sails though, they just look so childish with that big stupid skull and cross bones, my advice to make this set great, buy some old school sails (for bricklink) or make your own, the silly cannon at the back also isn’t great (I just removed it). This set is not as great as the classic Barracuda or Schooner but it far outshines the Runner and I feel it will have the nostalgic factor playing for it in about 10 years time. Change the sails and this set rocks. I just have far less to do to like the Bounty over the Runner, sure the sails are poor for the Bounty but thats easily fixed,as for the Runner it takes ages to reconstruct the set and get it to a state I like (I remodel it to have a cabin and remove the destruction stuff). My vote is Bounty
  10. Hello All Have we seen this the 6860 The Batcave for 2012 I didn't see it at the start of the post and thought I would add it, sorry if this isn't new. Cheers
  11. Thanks guys The comments have been really nice, I too was born in the 80's and as such all the older sets have a special place in my Lego heart (especially the forestmen). I can see the kingdoms sets going down a similar road, and in honesty they are (to me) the best sets since those of the 80s and early 90s (excluding the MMV as thats the best set ever). 6077 is a cool set and I was lucky enought to get that one first when I got my lego sets (I was about four at the time, it was christmas and my parents got me that and King’s Mountain Fortress 6081), as robin hood was big on tv back in 1990 and I liked them, I still have the whole of both sets and all the figs (and instructions, for both sets), thought sadly one of the visors (for set 6081) broke when I was young (and I can no longer find the madiens hat) so that has been lost in time. Still considering how young I was I class that as a win I remember making my forestmen save the lady in the castle set and taking her back to the fortress (with the loss of a few good me obviously), ahh good times . I picked up a few more over the course of my childhood, but when I came out of my dark age (a couple of years ago) I had to find the rest, personaly I like the crossing set more but they're all great to me. Next up are the Black Knights, I hope they're as well recieved (im starting to research and rebuild my sets now).
  12. I've read that book (clan of the cave bear) and I really liked it (wouldn't advise the next one though, Vally of the horses), I can see what youve done and its great. Wouldn't mind a close up of the bear though so that I could copy it. Great work cheers
  13. Taz, this is really nice it shows that article is a great help to all of us, though I believe alot of the talent comes from yourself. I can't wait to see it finished (as it looks perfect now) Cheers
  14. Hello Again All I know it has been a great deal of time since I last created one of these; for that I can only apologise. Well its finally here, my Forestman's article. The Lego Forestmen Sets 1987-1990 For those who don't know what I am up to (I expect thats most of you ), I am reviewing every set released for Castle, so far I have done Crusaders, Black Falcon's and Forestmen's, so below are the links to the other two. The Lego Castle Crusaders Sets 1984-1992 The Lego Black Falcon Sets 1984-1992 I hope you all enjoy it, and feedback would be most welcome as any comments give me the fuel I need to continue (it makes me happy). Enjoy and Thanks Cheers
  15. I got the 'Armada Flagship' last year on bricklink, all part included and it only cost a cool £35. I had to wait 1 week from order to the delivery arriving on my doorstep. I was very pleased
  16. If only Legocrazy81, yep the conectivity was what made me most excited when I was young and its something I would like to see back, I felt the blacksmith attack from the new Knigdoms set missed an oppertunity, (give it a standard wall at the back and it could have been an add on for the King's castle). Artanis, I have now changed the typo (don't knoiw why I said yellow) and mentioned the possiblity of the all black guy being the Black Falcon (as I thinks it's relevent) I also have the set but lost all the black Plumes (i have had it for like 20 years so I think I can be forgiven), and as for the other set I am inclined to agree but feel the need to include it anyway because of the shield . TheLegoDr, Eagles and Falcon's are different, I believe it was a play by Lego to attract their american consumer, some americans are very patriotic and the idea of an eagle (an american bald eagle maybe?) would appeal more than a falcon (which is more of a medievil hunting bird from europe), though they do have Falcon's in america so I am not 100% sure, its just an opinion.
  17. I have now reworded it to make it clearer Im please you liked the read
  18. Ha the only one I didn't test, cheers it is now fixed
  19. I know what your thinking "two extensive articles only a number of days apart?" yes its a little odd but I have just been driven latly and this is an interesting way to chanel my energies. so enought of the banter, here we have my look at the Black Falcons. The Lego Black Falcon Sets 1984-1992 For those who missed my previous articles I also have The Lego Castle Crusaders Sets 1984-1992 The Classic Lego Castle Sets 1978-1983 The History of LEGO Castle Feedback would be most welcome . Cheers all
  20. Well I am a Knight, a Male and a Human, so I will stick out well hey
  21. Great review, thanks for doing it. I was never the biggest fan of this set, it felt a little too gimicky rather than a solid construction that could be enjoyed after, but I was comapring it to Enchanted Island, Trading Post and Eldorados Fortress so I could have been a little harse. Love those Spanish Minifigs though
  22. This is an outstanding review, good pictures and alot of detail When I got this set I was a little disapointed in price to size ration, but the set is still good, its the common curse of all POTC sets. (p.s I did get a gold bar, sorry you didn't) Thansk for doing the review
  23. This new line is doing everything right, sure they havn't made the best sets (yet) but alot of them are very nice, the dragon prison and mill raid being particular highlights for me, the inclusion of regular civilain sets, the helm, the return of the pitchfork, a jester thats readily available (or was) and the cool dragon design are all positives. Its hard to fully judge because the line hasn't ended yet, we are comparing a fully finished line (and a little bit of nostalga) with a line thats halfway through. I think when we finally recieve all the sets for Kingdoms they will be just as good as Fantasy, it will just depend on your preference, Historical sets or Fansty sets. Personally I prefere the Historical ones
  24. Sorry I am not sure what you mean here, if its the bit at the end, I am going to look at the forestmen, wolfpack and black knights (but Falcons first) which is why they are included. its more of a preview of the future rather than what is next on the list. Thanks for all the positive feedback, it gives me the fuel to write more (though a way to improve the article is also welcome)
  25. Hello again all, I have not posted an article in ages so for those who don't remember, I was looking at all the sets released within the Castle theme. Todays faction of choice Crusaders, if you would like to look at all the sets made for that faction click on the link. The Lego Castle Crusaders Sets 1984-1992 Feedback would be most welcome Cheers
