Jurassic World 2018 - Rumors and Discussion
RetroInferno replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Licensed
Anyone noticed the ''Collect them all and...build your own hybrid'' on the back side of the Raptor chase set? Interesting gimmick, I wonder how that would look. Carnosaur legs, Raptor body and Head and arms of the Indo Raptor.- 1,290 replies

Jurassic World 2018 - Rumors and Discussion
RetroInferno replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Licensed
To be fair I really like the locking door mechanism on the set. But frankly the set screams ''We tried to push as many iconic stuff as possible in this set because it's the only jurassic park 1 set we'll launch''. DNA samples, '''''Barbasol TM''''' can, the JP original logo, red phone, ''need the magic word'', Big one, kitchen scene, island map, green Jell-O. Where's the Spas-12 though? , don't give me those tranq darts crap. I hope I'm wrong and we get other sets because that movie's legacy deserves to be treated fairly. I'll also give props for the Jurrasic World 2 set for not including an oversized blue generic vehicle and that Dilophosaurus looks great.- 1,290 replies

Okay, super nice that Lego is willing to make sets based on the best movie of this franchise by a million miles. But by Thor's beard in what parralel universe was it justified to price this 40$?- 1,290 replies

TLG's disappointing 2017 financial performance
RetroInferno replied to AmperZand's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I remember perfectly when Rogue One jus came out and Toys r US canada priced Krennic's shuttle at 150$ CAN instead of 120$. It wasn't just the intention that was hurting. -

Thanks for the information, that puts the already dire north american market in an even grimer perspective for TLG. -
TLG's disappointing 2017 financial performance
RetroInferno replied to AmperZand's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Are you sure? I thought manufacturers sell their good at retailers in bulk and it's up to the retailers to get their money back via sales. What I mean is that it's Toys R Us' problem they are stuck with so much merchandise. Of course sales wise it's gonna hurt Lego because their biggest NA physical retailer will close their operations, especially since the US market is weak enough as is. -
Star Wars Constraction 2018 Discussion & Rumors
RetroInferno replied to VBBN's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Completly understandable it got canned: they shelf warmed the crap out of retailers almost everywhere. The causes are simples, but in the end if a retailer doesn't want your product because it's collecting dust ''Black series Finn'' style well though luck. Same thing hapenned to the ''Rebels'' star wars sub-theme, retailers wouldn't touch them with a 12 feet pole. -
Morality is extremly dubious in the show. They got away with violence using explosions to a ludacris degree. Remember when Sabine used the ''lightning weapon'' to stun everyone on a star destroyer but not killing them? Oh wait the chain reaction blew the whole row of ships up. Each time someone is shot they are always depicted as ''stunned'', since it's always storm troopers they are always seen slightly moving in pain on the ground. The only way the show officially kills someone is by explosions or falling down from a really high elevation. Thrawn was considered ruthless for killing a factory worker because he sabotaged a speeder? That factory worker knowingly sabotaged a speeder that would have killed the user, who probably would have died simply by driving the damn thing. Ear for ear. If Thrawn was really sadistic he would have killed 5 other innocent workers to set an example. The ghost crew are not the ''really trying hard under dog'' that people root for fighting an evil regime; The Empire IS.

I would have liked to put the blame on Star Wars because ever since Disney took charge a clear price increase has been noticable and the sets produced relared to new content has been lack luster IMO. But apparantly it's not the case.; Star wars sold within their expectations. I think their ''movie + cascade of sets'' formula is losing wind fast, I think that both the Lego Batman and Ninjago movie didn't meet the jaw-dropping success the first Lego movie had despite their costs. You can't year after year push soo many new products on the shelves; There's a whopping 42 items related for the Lego Batman movie available at the same time as your Ninjago movie with 33. They over-flowed the market hard with their movie going strategy. Those number of items are inflated because they take into account promo items and combo packs but the point remains. Sometimes ''fewer'' is better than more. -
By survived he means ''We've put him in the fridge like Boba is in the sarlacc up until we find a way to shove him elsewhere''. They hyper spaced with a broken hull and exposed command bridge; both Ezra and Thrawn would logically be dead. I don't really care what Dave Filoni or any star wars exect pulls out of their megablocks to justify lazy writting. ''Oh Thrawn is back guys! Look he's an elderly husk with no more power to be scavenged by these new characters we failed to write properly.'' Just look at what Disney did with most old established characters; Miserable, broken, old and powerless and even worse; their legacy meant nothing. Leia, Luke, Han, Maul. They all look like injuired race horses begging to be put out of their misery. I bringed the Defender arc because Lothal has been pumping them for months and we've seen 3 of them in action for 2 whole seasons. I really don't care if someone loved the show or not; it's just a kid show after all ( Star Wars' strongest feature is that it caters to everyone but screw me right ), but I can't fathom anyone defending the space whales deus ex machina and the way Thrawn was dragged into this pile of manure of a conclusion for his character. How was I supposed to root for the rebels? They relied on BS whimsical creatures to save their skin like they are owed to it, they barely went through any hardships, their smugness for me was intolerable. Meanwhile over at the empire they are facing uber-mensch characters with the plot armor to rule all plot armor, they can't aim to save their lives ( That moment when Ezra is held down by 3 force pikes, then stormies come up and miss their initial shots at an un-moving target 12 feets away had me wanting to throw up ). Even death troopers have been shown as anything but usefull in the show.

What a damn shiet show those two final episodes were; SPOILERS I'm going into SPOILERS here, listing the things that threw me either completly off or made me pull my 3DS and started playing Tetris to forget about just what in hell just hapenned. - So you are telling me that a crew of 8 people were able to seize control of the Imperial Station that hosted a FULL planetary contigency of troops, were able to hold it and blow it up to shiet. - Thrawn was beaten and killed not by cunning, lack of sight or a suprise mandalorian attack that stupid show builded up for the WHOLE season 3, let's use bullshiet space whales that were featured in a single 20 minutes episodes. - More Loth Wolf pretentious crap. - Gregor, arguably the best clone trooper of all time, was killed by a single blaster shot yet that stupid midget pig survived said blaster shot. - Sabine - Hera's smugness - Let's use call-backs characters like Pellaon and Thrawn in a kid's show, because let's not kid ourself this is aimed solely at kids with here and there bones thrown at older fans wih ''MEMBER RUKH? I MEMBER'', ''MEMBER DARK TROOPERS? I MEMBER'' and let's kill them with the worst deus ex machina possible. - Rukh didn't blow up the damn Ghost when he easily could have. It's not like that ship gave any problems to the Imperials in that series. - Screw Filoni and the writers team for digging Thrawn out of the grave and killing him in the most un-gracious way possible, in a kids show of all media. He should have stayed dead. - Ezra fights his way through a whole ISD class Star Destroyer by himself . How in hell did the Empire managed to hold the galaxy for that long? - Action scenes featuring any imperial resistance is boring filler; nothing is ever at stake or interesting during those blaster exchanges, storm troopers land 4 shots in those last 2 episodes, killing one. - Hera having a green haired kid. - What the hell hapenned to the TIE defender arc story? Oh sorry I MEMBER TIE DEFENDERS, THANK YOU DISNEY I MEMBER THEM. My final rating of this whole series of 4 seasons is a Space Whale out of 10. Screw you Disney.

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
RetroInferno replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
So I just stumbled upon Lego's april calendar; no wide event or set dates for the Solo sets? -
Yeah I laughed quite a bit at that. Honestly those two episodes were not that good IMO, they mentionned Thrawn and the Emperor and I was waitting for that to happen, never minding the rest. What bores me to tears though is the ''animals in a dream mysticism'' bullshiet that the show kept using. It's overly pretentious and most of all boring. How many times did simple or force megablocks animals interfered with this show's episodes? The space whales, the lothcats, those awefull wolves, the bird creatures the imperials havn't shot yet that interferes with their radars. As for the big ''hapenning'' of the episode everyone myself included thought it had to happen either at the beginning or the end, they builded it up and they executed well but you saw it coming 5 miles away. Also why is Governor Price such a damn bufoon? The moment Constantine died I swear they delegated his ''high ranked imbecile'' disease right to her, as she manages to let the rebel remnants to flee at the end of season 3 just as he died. And now she succesfully manages to screw everything up by ordering her men to aim the the vital factory components instead of the small ship that landed on it? They couldn't escape the planet anyway, not in that craft, where were the damn Tie fighters too? All I want from this show now is to see Palpatine, his interaction with Thrawn, and the show creators not killing or getting rid of him.

I really, really like this but is there some sort of add-on set that's planned for it? With those technic pin holes there has to be.

There's a reliable source that said that the front section of the train and a wagon is coming, it's even been added to the 2018 news thread. 4-5 figs and no rails.

Wow that new ''villain'' looks like if Briareos Hecatonchires from Apple Seed had a kid with a Fallen from Destiny. -
If they play this out like a Ocean's eleven with Han's origin story thrown in there it might be a fun watch. Completly unecessary but if it's fun why not.

Have we talked about how weaponizing hyper space jumps breaks the mechanics of space combat in the universe yet? I really feel for Mark Hamill, his legacy as one of the most impactfull protagonist in sci-fi, or ever, the young and hopefull jedi, turned into a husk to be scavenged by these characters and Disney. You want to turn Luke into this destroyed man that wants to slowly die on an island? Fine by me, but why the awefull one liners? Why did he leave a map of his location if he didnt wanted to be found? Luke's first anticipated return in more than 30 years builded up by the last movie and the first thing he does is simply throw away that light saber as it was trash, just for the laugh? I was shell shocked with my mouth wide open when that hapenned. We don't see his damn reaction learning Han's death, it simply cuts to ''whatever''. Serious tone, pacing and lenght issues, unlikable characters, useless side plot that lasts for a third of the movie. That trilogy is the cash train running on the railway of nostalgia and corporate greed. Great ideas in concept really poorly executed. Episode IX hype am I right.

What was the last movie you watched?
RetroInferno replied to EbonHawk's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I watched the Blackcoat's Daughter and Gerald's Game. Never before has a movie made me feel sick in my stomach and light headed as Gerald's game; excellent movie up until a certain moment where I felt the need to take a cold shower. Haven't been able to watch the rest yet, and I don't know if I even can. Blackcoat's Daughter is extremly good and creepy, slow paced thriller with horror elements to it. -
A lot of the merchandise is rotting on shelves, especially the hasbro stuff. Heck even the 2015 stuff doesn't sold that well and is still in a lot of shops today( Finn, Rey and Zuvio stuff especially ). Disney doesn't has to care for now; they already made their cash selling retailers their products. Now we are going to have unsold Rose action figures everywhere, I think I'm gonna need a scuba diver kit next time I visit a physical retail store.

Well, take into account that since 2014-2015 there's: - a Star Wars movie taking additionnal place every year. - Lego movies have an obscene amount of sets dedicated to them. - Lego mixed Castle + token futuristic/wacky/one of a kind theme into everyone's favourite Nexo Knight. I sadly can't stray from a certain theme because of $ + space requirements, but this situation pisses me off for both collectors and MOCers of certain themes.
