  1. I doubt it as Lego SW has only been going on since 1999 whereas the Kenner/Hasbro SW figures not only had a run during the course of the original movies but were revived in the mid-90s and have been going strong ever since.
  2. Shop for me has some good sales at the moment with a new item going up every hour at the moment. So far they have the UCS R2D2 for 20% off and the Kingdoms Joust for 15% off RRP: http://www.shopforme.com.au/index.php?main_page=page&id=12&zenid=103a4b4e62f5210abe621c9fcfac2f35 The Joust is a great set if you're at all interested in Castle.
  3. Well I dropped into Myers after work having misread the date at the top of the press release in the link as the date of the sale and was told the sale wasn't on till tomorrow, but the guy said as the signs had started to go up he would give me the 20% off anyway and save me a trip. I got Jabba's Palace, the Skiff and the minimodel with the AtSt Driver in it (I want one to go with my Battle of Endor set). No sign of any LOTOR yet though.
  4. Yep even if mine closes at the $32 it's up to now in a couple of days it actually pushes my Dynamic Duo Funhouse Escape down to less than the US RRP along with the $22.50 in VIP points I had to spare.
  5. Yes but no doubt Myer One card holders will get an additional 10% off which will put it down below the 20% off RRP cost. I was at Myer Belconnen today and they were unloading the new Star Wars sets. They looked great but not at RRP. Jabba's Palace was $199 which seems a bit rough given it is only 700+ pieces whereas Helm's Deep is 1300+ for the same RRP, although I'll admit it didn't seem to contain too much "Billund Air" when I picked it up. My May 4 Shop@Home order is looking much more economical now that the bidding on my TC-14 minifig on Ebay is up over $30. I can't believe people are willing to pay so much for 3 pieces of crappy Chinese plastic depciting an extremely minor character. Can't complain though.
  6. Yes but you can get all the moonstones (bar the Zombies one) in the Vampire's Castle, which is a much better looking set with some interesting pieces than most of the other MF line. It even has the coffin that comes with the Vampire Hearse in it!
  7. Maybe I was spoiled by the Pharaoh's Quest mummies but both this Mummy and the CF Mummy look pretty ordinary to me. Also there's nothing really appealling in the non-minifig aspects of this set to my eye. The chariot is pretty ugly and the mini-chopper too simple. Pass for me.
  8. Assuming an extra 10% off for Myer One holders then Helm's Deep will come down to just over $150...not quite as good as last year where the Queen Anne's Revenge could be had for c$135 but a bit better than a 20% off sale elsewhere. Also the extra 10% off usually works for all the Lego that's 20% off so this will probably be the best deal available to those looking for the new sets locally.
  9. I know the set my wife is hanging out for is a Rivendell set (preferably UCS), which could fit into either the LOTOR or Hobbit themes. I'd like to see a set featuring the throne room of the Great Goblin.
  10. So they're not very compatible then in your opinion?
  11. Shop for me also has it listed at $200 - not too bad for a 1300+ piece set and pretty reasonable if you can nab it at a 20%+ discount.
  12. The couple of times I've ordered stuff previously from S@H it's come from Singapore. It could be that a lot depends on what you order (for example the Sydney warehouse may not have Shop@Home exclusives or themes not yet released in Australia but available at S@H in stock).
  13. Thanks for the heads up...I managed to sneak in and get the Alien Tripod for a grand total of $6.20 after discount and cashing in a Myer One gift card I received last week!
  14. Too true - try to intoduce universal healthcare there any you get branded as a "communist". Also (despite what the media would have you believe lately) we have far-less firearms here (although house prices are a lot cheaper). In any case, you can always take advantage of the high Aussie dollar to buy your Lego on-line, off E-Bay or Bricklink - you just can't walk into a retail shop and buy Lego at ccompatible prices.
  15. Yes Lego sets are cheaper in the US, but would you really want to live in the US just so you could enjoy cheap Lego?
  16. VIP points don't usually appear until several days after orders are placed - so don't panic if they aren't there yet. My order placed online on 4/5 is also now shipped. I saw plenty of series 6 & 7 mingigs at Toys R US Belconnen today. I will sneak over tomorrow at lunch and pick up an evil knight, space patrol dude and highlander, which are the only ones left I want from those series and should be easy finds given they're pretty common.
  17. Sorry but these sets don't do much for me. The Monster Fighters look ridiculous with their cyborg limbs and with a few exceptions, the monsters themselves are nothing special. Why didn't they go for a "Hammer horror" vibe with monster hunters actually looking like they fit in with the gothic horror mode? I don't understand how all the cybernetics come into it. Maybe kids will love 'em but there's not much here I like. Perhaps I'll feel differently once I see the actual sets.
  18. Yep -I just checked Ebay and there's a few on there with current bids of $30+. I'd be happy to get that much for mine.
  19. I agree but with the application of some VIP points due to othewise expire soon and hopefully a decent return flogging TC-14 on E-Bay it was actually more cost effective for me to get it this way than import it. This would be a good time to pick up the Kingdoms Joust if anyone is interested. I paid the outragous postage to get it as soon as it became available because I couldn't wait but it really is a must-have set if you are even vaguely interested in Castle.
  20. OK - I buckled - got the Dynamic Due Funhouse Escape ($10 <TRU standard rip-off price) and a cheap Dino set for the older son to make up the $100. Spent a few VIP points to get the price down and TC-14 can go on Ebay to help make the deal even sweeter.
  21. The Orc Forge looks like a nicely realised set to me, with some good parts for MOCing. My only disappointment is that there only seems to be one hair/ear piece for the Mordor orcs, which means as well as being bald, one will be earless unless you chuck a helmet on his head. Definitely a set for me as I will be getting one of every set with orcs in it in order to build a decent army.
  22. I think it just has to be $100 total, not specifically from SW sets. As I said, not bad if you want to buy one of the larger exclusive sets but otherwise nothing to get excited about.
  23. ...and the May 4 promotion from shop@home is a total wash out - you need to spend at least $100 to get free shipping, which means unless you're going to buy one of the more expensive exclusive sets you might as well not bother. Pity, as I have a few VIP points to spend, but not enough to make paying the exhorbitant shipping rates cost effective.
  24. I'll be getting Jabba's Palace & the Desert Skiff for sure, as well as the Endor planet set (I need an At-St driver for the At-St from the Battle of Endor set), but I can't say any of the ships look too interesting. I'll be interested to see what Palpatine's Arrest looks like.
  25. Hi there, I have been playing Lego Star Wars 3 on my PC and have run into an issue. On some levels the screen goes into "splitscreen" mode and when I finish off the action on one part of the screen the game seems to expect me to start up as a second player on the other side and finish that side as well. However, I am playing single-player with only one controller - is there a way to swap to the other screen without the computer assuming you are a "second" player thus requiring another controller? I can see this would be a fun feature if two players were playing but in single player it is simply annoying.
